#PinkTutuBlogParis: Bonjour from the City of Lights! (Post #1086)
Saturday 17th October, 2020
Oh là là, Paris! I've finally arrived, and I am positively giddy with excitement. My trusty pink tutu, aptly named "Parisian Pink," has found its way onto my petite frame, and let me tell you, it's ready to twirl its way through the city of romance and fashion. This is, after all, the dream of every tutu-loving ballerina, right?
It all started with a whirlwind of preparation. Packing was an adventure in itself – carefully selecting my pinkest frocks, glittery heels, and of course, my ballet shoes. (You can never be too prepared, darlings.) My journey on the Eurostar was a delightful escape in itself – imagine, hurtling through the countryside towards Paris with my head full of dreams of macarons, haute couture, and iconic Parisian dance performances. It was pure magic.
The moment I stepped off the train at Gare du Nord, the air thrummed with excitement. The city was buzzing, a vibrant kaleidoscope of colours, aromas, and a certain je ne sais quoi that just drew me in. My heart did a little pirouette, and I couldn't wait to explore.
Parisian Flair on the Seine:
After a quick pit stop at a charming cafe to enjoy a delicious croissant (a necessity!), I headed straight for the Seine River. It's so charming, isn't it? This romantic river with its bridges and the beautiful architecture surrounding it was the perfect setting to capture the essence of Paris through my camera lens. The sun was starting to set, bathing the city in a warm, golden light, creating an ethereal ambiance. And what do you know? The day also brought with it the Parisian Open Air Cinema. Oh la la, so beautiful. It was such a special touch – watching a movie under the twinkling stars, the iconic Eiffel Tower casting a majestic silhouette in the background. It was utterly dreamy, darling.
Dance! Dance! Dance!:
No trip to Paris is complete without seeing a ballet show, and trust me, this was no ordinary performance! The ballet at the Palais Garnier was an experience I'll never forget. The theatre was stunning, an elaborate masterpiece of art and architecture. Every corner radiated grandeur, the velvet seating plush and opulent, the ornate chandeliers glimmering like constellations in the grand space. The ballerinas danced with such grace and passion, and I couldn’t resist tapping my toes in time with the music. Every pose, every move, it just felt like the embodiment of grace and beauty – the essence of ballet at its finest.
Pink Shopping Paradise:
Who says ballet and shopping don’t go together? A trip to the city of fashion was incomplete without indulging in some serious retail therapy. Walking the chic boutiques and shops on Avenue des Champs-Élysées was an experience in itself – from haute couture to whimsical vintage finds, I discovered treasures that whispered Parisian charm in every colour, every detail. Of course, the pinkest hues stole the show! A delicate silk scarf, a beautiful pink beret, a delicate chain with a dainty pink enamel heart pendant… It’s safe to say my pink collection has been considerably boosted.
Finding Paris through a Tutu Lens:
Paris is a city that demands a little je ne sais quoi, an air of confidence, and what better way to express it than with a pink tutu? This delicate confection of tulle embodies all that's playful, whimsical, and oh so stylish.
The City of Lights definitely appreciates the twirling. Just yesterday, as I gracefully sashayed through the Luxembourg Gardens, my pink tutu attracting all sorts of admiring glances, a group of young children rushed towards me with bright smiles and whispered "Bonjour, mademoiselle!" And it felt like a tiny pink miracle! To think, even in the most sophisticated of cities, the whimsical charm of a pink tutu can touch even the youngest of hearts.
From Montmartre to the Marais:
Every corner of Paris reveals a different story, a unique treasure. We explored the vibrant atmosphere of Montmartre, its winding streets filled with artistic energy and charm. Climbing to the top of Sacré-Coeur, with its majestic white facade bathed in the warm afternoon light, was a truly awe-inspiring experience. I even managed to catch a breathtaking ballet performance at the Théâtre de la Ville, tucked away in a charming alley in the Marais. A more intimate setting than the Garnier, this performance brought the grace and beauty of ballet right to our hearts, creating an intensely magical experience.
The Pink Tutu's Magic Spell:
So, why does a pink tutu make me feel so at home in Paris? Maybe it’s the way it adds a touch of whimsicality to a city renowned for its sophisticated elegance. Perhaps it’s the fact that it embodies the spirit of freedom, joy, and grace that resonate with the very essence of Paris. Or perhaps it’s simply because wearing a pink tutu makes me feel a bit like a modern-day ballerina, twirling my way through a romantic fairytale.
Whatever the reason, one thing is certain - Paris loves its pink tutus, and they seem to love me back!
Stay tuned, dear readers, because next week, I'll be sharing all about my incredible Parisian ballet classes at the prestigious École de Danse de Paris. It’s sure to be a lesson in Parisian style and ballet magic!
Until then, stay rosy and remember, every day is an opportunity to wear your pink tutu and embrace your inner ballerina.
À bientôt!
