Bonjour, darlings! It's Emma here, back from my Parisian escapade! Oh my goodness, you just won't believe the sheer fabulousness of this city! It’s utterly enchanting, and of course, I’ve been twirling my way through every street, every shop, every show, spreading the gospel of pink tutus!
This week's journey was extra special, because I travelled on the EuroStar – just think of it, my darling, a whole magical train journey! I’m truly obsessed with this mode of transportation. So chic and easy. I tucked myself away in my corner seat, admiring the rolling countryside and sketching furiously in my little pink notebook – I’ve got all my Paris plans, dreams and outfits carefully jotted down. Of course, my tutu of choice for the journey was a shimmering cerise number, perfect for a bit of travel glamour.
Once I stepped onto Parisian soil, I could practically feel the city's vibrant energy buzzing around me. It felt so familiar, yet also brand new, like I'd arrived home after a long time away. Paris always welcomes me with open arms and lots of delicious patisseries!
Day One: Opera Extravaganza
I wasted no time in getting to the heart of Paris – the Opéra Garnier! This iconic landmark is just swoon-worthy! It’s absolutely stunning, the intricate architecture and exquisite interiors would have even the most jaded of souls gushing! I spent the first part of my afternoon wandering through the opulent hallways, snapping photos (don't worry, darling, I've got plenty to share!), and letting my imagination run wild about the ballets performed within those walls.
My day was topped off by a simply sublime performance of "Swan Lake." I've seen many "Swan Lake"s in my life, but this was truly spectacular, from the beautiful costumes, the passionate music and the talented dancers. As I sat in my plush velvet seat, completely immersed in the beauty of the ballet, I found myself wishing that I was back on the stage! You can be sure, though, my lovely lot, that I'll be hitting up ballet class as soon as I get back!
Day Two: A Tutu-tastic Shopping Spree!
Where can a girl find fabulous outfits that can rival the Parisian chic? The answer, of course, is in the City of Lights! The second day of my adventure was all about unleashing my inner shopaholic. I sashayed my way around the iconic Marais district, letting the pink hues of the twilight inspire my purchases! You guys know my style is bold and beautiful, with plenty of pink tutus and fabulous accessories to add some sparkle! I managed to snag a couple of chic floral-printed dresses, some gorgeous pearl earrings, and even a must-have pair of glitter ballet flats - I may or may not have bought enough pink tulle to make another tutu…
Day Three: Montmartre Madness!
On this particular day, I found myself drawn to the charmingly Bohemian atmosphere of Montmartre, where I felt every bit the artist, just like those fabulously talented people before me! As I climbed the steps towards the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of Parisian magic. The entire hillside, with its quirky shops and cozy cafés, was truly enchanting.
After taking a break at a little café with an oversized pot of steaming tea (delicious!), I walked through the cobbled streets of the Latin Quarter, getting lost in the charming alleys and discovering hidden gems around every corner. There were even a few delightful dancers practising their pirouettes in a park, their tutus swirling gracefully through the air - a truly beautiful sight. I can't resist popping in on a dance class whenever I'm near one, I find the rhythm so infectious, you know? It just calls to me!
A Quick Look at This Week's Hot Dates!
What better time than December to soak up the magical atmosphere of Paris? There's just something special about the city in the lead-up to Christmas. As I wandered the city streets, the scent of freshly baked pain au chocolat filled the air and there were twinkle lights adorning every tree. The magic of the season truly is here!
The markets are full of vibrant, seasonal decorations and tempting Christmas treats, but my absolute favourite find was a tiny bakery called "La Belle Tarte" which has been open since the 1920s! There I sampled a beautifully crafted fruit tart, which was both delicious and exquisitely presented, all decorated with sugar flowers – talk about a treat!
Day Four: A Bit of "River" Culture
No trip to Paris is complete without a stroll along the Seine. Oh my, how this iconic river never fails to inspire! You just have to marvel at the timeless Parisian beauty captured on each riverbank, with cobbled quays, ornate bridges and stunning historical buildings. It really is a visual feast, darling.
This day, I took a leisurely boat ride and watched the sunset from the water, letting the golden light wash over the cityscape. You wouldn’t believe how stunning it looked – like something out of a fairy tale! But that's Paris for you, all grace, romance, and a touch of whimsy! I simply had to capture the perfect Parisian selfie against the sunset backdrop and posted it with the #PinkTutuParis hashtag, of course!
Time for More Ballet!
I’m incredibly excited, darling, because as part of this week’s Parisian trip, I caught the enchanting production of the "Sleeping Beauty" at the beautiful Théâtre du Châtelet! I've been so looking forward to seeing this ballet, as the entire concept of fairies and magic spells is right up my alley (pun intended!). I loved watching the graceful ballerinas and charming prince – just like stepping into a fairy tale!
The gorgeous costumes and elegant set pieces left me completely entranced. And, of course, the sheer joy on the dancers' faces while performing was absolutely contagious! I must admit, this performance definitely put a little extra spring in my step for the remainder of my stay!
A Quick Tutu Recap: What Makes Paris So Special!
- The food! I haven't mentioned it yet, but darling, I've been sampling Parisian cuisine throughout my stay! This city really knows how to indulge. Everything from buttery croissants and rich pain au chocolat to delicate macarons and delectable French onion soup! Oh, la la!
- The energy! You can just feel the passion for life, culture, art and beauty that makes Paris so unique! There’s always a flurry of activity on every corner – a street performer entertaining a crowd, a group of artists setting up their easels, or a chic couple strolling along the riverbank!
- The style! My darling, you just can’t ignore the unparalleled sense of style in Paris! From chic boutiques to charming street vendors, Paris is a feast for the eyes.
But, I have to say, darling, it’s not just the beautiful buildings and breathtaking performances that have won me over, it’s the people! I’ve met so many wonderfully kind, welcoming and open-hearted souls in the heart of Paris, and you just know they love the beauty and magic of this place! It's simply impossible not to get swept away by the contagious charm and delightful energy!
So what’s my takeaway, darling, after yet another trip to Paris?
Paris is a true masterpiece – a city of magic, beauty, and endless wonder! And the best part? There's always something new to discover around every corner. It truly is a city that makes me feel alive and inspired.
