Pink Tutu Paris: #1178 - Bonjour, Paris!
Bonjour, darlings! Emma here, back from the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and whisked away to the City of Lights! Oh, Paris, how I love you! It's been far too long since I last danced on your cobblestone streets. This weekend's adventure is all about Parisian dreams, ballet performances, and, of course, the most wonderful shopping this side of the Channel.
This Saturday, July 23rd, I stepped off the EuroStar feeling a delicious sense of Parisian glamour, already knowing that my pink tutu was going to feel right at home amongst the beautiful architecture and the iconic Parisian style. And it did! My twirls across the Gare du Nord station platform brought smiles from fellow travellers. What could be more perfect for exploring the City of Love?
The Pink Tutu Tour: A Parisian Ballet Blitz
Paris is an endless feast for the eyes. The beauty is intoxicating; every corner holds another hidden treasure, another architectural wonder. This time, I wanted to make the most of this city's ballet heritage. You can’t mention Paris without thinking of dance, right? It's literally woven into the very fabric of this city's soul.
First stop: L’Opéra Garnier, a true architectural masterpiece and the epitome of Parisian opulence. From the moment I stepped inside, I was mesmerised by its lavish grand staircase, its rich velvet interiors, and, of course, its iconic chandelier. And you all know how much I love a chandelier! Just imagining the grand ballerinas from yesteryear taking centre stage here was magical! The tour ended in the opulent auditorium and gave me all the inspiration I need to choreograph a beautiful ballet inspired by Parisian beauty.
Then, it was off to a thrilling performance at the Opéra National de Paris. The performance was incredible! From the exquisite costumes and dramatic sets to the sheer brilliance of the dancers, I was completely swept away. And, just as I imagined, the entire theatre had a feeling of grace and refined energy; even the most casual onlooker couldn't deny the enchanting beauty of the ballet.
Fashion: Oh là là, My Darling!
Paris is fashion heaven. Even my tutu can't hide my obsession! But no matter how many times I come, the fashion here is never less than exhilarating. It's like a giant ballet performance, and we're all performers! This trip, I'm after a few specific looks:
A flamboyant blush pink feather boa, just the perfect finishing touch for my evening ballet outfit, imagine a dramatic waltz across a grand dancefloor.
A vintage sequined jacket, because every woman needs some extra sparkle! The vintage stores here have endless rows of shimmering jackets, I feel the need to acquire them all!
A Parisian chic straw boater is non-negotiable. This stylish accessory has the perfect summer flair, I just love it.
And of course, a new pink tutu, you never have too many! I'm picturing a blush-toned cloud of tulle, just perfect for strolling along the Seine or exploring a charming Parisian park.
Shopping Adventures: Beyond the Tutu
Beyond my tutu-tastic quest, I'm always on the lookout for vintage finds, cute boutiques, and anything unique and Parisian. The streets around the Palais Royal have a charming blend of contemporary art galleries and shops overflowing with Parisian delights. There's a fabulous Parisian street fashion store in Le Marais – I’ll be sharing a special “Shop the Look” post next week – you have to check out the colourful, funky style!
Foodie Delights: Parisian Bites
No trip to Paris would be complete without indulging in the city's famous culinary delights. My tummy is getting a workout on fresh, beautiful baguettes, croissants (especially a delicious raspberry one!) and creamy French pastries, which always seem to call to me! For dinner, I'm treating myself to a decadent three-course meal at a traditional bistro. I can almost taste that luscious creamy soup and those tender chicken and frites. Oh, Paris, how I love you!
Travel by Train: A Tutu and TGV Adventure
Getting here by Eurostar was fantastic. There is such elegance in train travel, especially for me. There’s no airport security hassle, no packed flight, and time to just relax, put on some music and get lost in the sights. Of course, there are the snacks, and who could resist a hot cup of tea and a buttery croissant on the journey to France. Oh, the romanticism of it all!
Saturday Inspiration
I love how Paris feels, I love the light, the fashion, the people, everything is just more colourful and vibrant, I'm not even sure it is! But everything just seems so alive. That, and a few tutus, are the best inspiration. Paris is the best place to feel truly alive and embrace my tutu spirit. If I can bring this sense of magic back home to Derbyshire, my mission is accomplished.
If you are a fan of dance or just have a passion for experiencing different cultures and exploring new destinations, make sure to put Paris on your travel bucket list! Don’t forget to embrace your inner fashionista and go pink! And remember, darlings, life is meant to be twirled in!
Until next week, darlings.
Au revoir!
Emma xx
