Pink Tutu Adventures in Paris: Bonjour from the City of Lights! (Blog Post #1188)
Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-loving blogger, Emma, back with another adventure from the heart of the Parisian dream!
This week, I'm twirling in the city of romance, fashion, and all things fabulous: Paris! As you all know, I have a special fondness for the magic of the train, and the EuroStar whisked me away to the City of Lights this week. Every clickety-clack of the wheels felt like a tap on my ballet slippers, whispering, "Emma, get ready for some Parisian magic!"
Now, before we dive into my Parisian escapade, a quick update from Derbyshire. My ballet schedule is jam-packed! I've got three shows this month – a modern ballet adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland," a romantic waltz with the Derbyshire Ballet, and a charity performance of Swan Lake, which is always a real feather in my cap! And, of course, my favourite pink tutu makes an appearance at each one, garnering applause and compliments!
And speaking of pink… have I mentioned I love pink?! Honestly, there's no colour quite like it – it's the colour of love, sweetness, and boundless joy! It perfectly embodies my spirit. It also, I'm proud to say, is the theme of my Paris adventures! Every Parisian day is filled with the most wonderful pink delights: delicate macarons, the blush of the Eiffel Tower at sunset, the charming pink roses that grace every corner. Even the pigeons seem to be wearing shades of blush this week!
Now, onto my Parisian diary!
Day 1: The Grand Arrival
I landed in the Gare du Nord, feeling like Cinderella stepping out of her pumpkin carriage – except I'm sure Cinderella wouldn't have had such a lovely, twirly pink tutu on! The air buzzed with excitement. I was instantly transported into a world of elegance and romance. After checking into my gorgeous little boutique hotel (oh, it had a pink-and-white patterned wallpaper – perfection!), I made my way to the Seine.
I walked along the riverside, the cobbled paths, and the soft lighting painting the city in a magical, romantic hue. A perfect day in Paris couldn't have been more charming, a setting fit for a storybook heroine, or in this case, your favourite pink-clad blogger.
Day 2: Art, Beauty, and Pink Bows
Parisian fashion, of course, is at the top of my to-do list! I adore exploring vintage shops in search of unique gems to add to my pink tutu collection. (Because one tutu is never enough, right?) Today's finds included a magnificent feather boa, the colour of sunset skies, and a crown of faux pink roses, ready to add a touch of fairytale charm to my Parisian looks!
Later, I paid homage to one of my favourite artistic icons: Edgar Degas, whose paintings are filled with grace and a passion for ballet. I wandered through the Musée d'Orsay, marveling at his breathtaking sculptures of dancers. He truly understood the art of motion – and perhaps, a little touch of pink tutus?
Day 3: Bonjour, Monsieur Eiffel!
It was a day of grand Parisian romance – and a pinch of pink! Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower, so today, I climbed to the top! As I gazed over the cityscape, bathed in the golden hour light, the city truly resembled a miniature, glittery wonderland. This incredible city, this iconic monument... pure Parisian magic!
Then, after enjoying a delicious pink-themed dessert at a charming cafe in the heart of the city, I decided to add some theatre to the mix. "Cabaret" – an evening of unforgettable costumes, music, and of course, a splash of Parisian je ne sais quoi. The music, the choreography, the costumes – it was everything I had dreamed of and more! Even the lipstick of the leading lady was a shade of pink, my favourite shade of course, that shimmered and twinkled under the stage lights!
Day 4: The Louvre, the Pink Lady!
Parisian art and fashion are so closely entwined, and my adventures continued in the Louvre. What a day of wonder! I strolled amongst masterpieces and marvelled at their magnificence – Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" was even wearing a blush pink! She looked stunning, and a bit jealous of my pink tutu!
I found myself drawn to the "Venus de Milo," a statue that oozed classic elegance and beauty. She almost had me thinking about taking a sculpting class to try and sculpt my own “pink-tutu” themed Venus, maybe I could even name it after my favourite opera: “La Traviata!”
Day 5: Montmartre Magic
Today, I walked the cobblestone streets of Montmartre, the heart of Parisian artistry! I visited Sacré-Cœur Basilica, its white walls rising majestically against the sky. But more than the impressive views, it was the energy, the creativity, the heart of the artist that touched me most! There’s something magical about this place.
As I painted the evening, in watercolour tones, in the vibrant artistic atmosphere of Montmartre, the streets of the village bustled with life – musicians, artists, street performers, all basking in the glow of creativity. And, oh yes, the bakeries… those delicious, perfectly golden croissants, the smell of warm bread wafting through the air. That's the life, isn’t it!
Day 6: The Seine & Swan Lake Dreams
Paris is an enchanting place for dreams, and this afternoon, I indulged in a river cruise on the Seine. I sailed along the Seine, feeling like I was floating on a magical dream! I watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the city in hues of orange and pink! It’s enough to make even a veteran like me swoon!
Back at the hotel, a few steps from the Champs-Elysees, my feet tapped with anticipation for tonight's ballet performance: "Swan Lake." My ballet class taught me all the graceful moves and the power of Swan Lake, and seeing a live performance brought my passion to life. The stage was lit in hues of pink and white – even the lead ballerina was wearing a gorgeous pale pink tutu. It made me feel right at home, surrounded by the magic of dance, a little pink tutu, and a sense of pure delight!
Day 7: The Perfect Parisian Finale
A final day in the city of love! It was the day to savor every bite of Parisian sweetness – croissants, crepes, and the best hot chocolate in the world! The French pastry shops were filled with delectable delights, making my Parisian farewell so very sweet!
Oh, and did I mention my Parisian souvenir shopping? I found the most gorgeous pink ballet slippers and a fluffy pink feather boa! And you know what? Every Paris adventure requires a souvenir tutu! This one has “Je t’aime” embroidered on it – what a wonderful memory to take home with me.
