Pink Tutu Blog - Paris Post 1207: The City of Lights (and Pink Tutus!)
Bonjour from Paris, my darlings! It’s Emma here, and it’s finally time to share my adventures in the City of Lights – the most magical place for a girl with a pink tutu and a passion for ballet!
This week I took a whirl (literally!) on the EuroStar to Paris – nothing beats the romance of train travel, especially when you can rock your favourite pink tutu whilst admiring the beautiful countryside whizzing by. Of course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog without some fabulously frivolous fashion, right? So, I packed my suitcase full of twirling-ready outfits – think silky pink blouses, tulle skirts with matching feather boas, and a bevy of bewitching ballerina shoes – you know, the kind that make a woman feel like she can dance her way through life!
This trip is a celebration of all things fabulous. You see, I recently completed a string of charity performances at a lovely little theatre in my Derbyshire hometown. We were a smash hit – everyone absolutely adored the performances, which meant not only did I raise a lovely amount for charity, but it also boosted my ballet-fuelled bank account, making this Parisian dream a reality!
Paris, in my humble opinion, is a place where even the most mundane things turn into an elegant affair. I’m captivated by the beautiful architecture – think classic French wrought iron balconies adorned with trailing bougainvillea and charming shops bursting with chic trinkets – even the mundane Parisian lampposts have an air of sophistication. It’s the ultimate Parisian indulgence. Oh, and did I mention that Paris is literally full of fabulous fashion!
Saturday's Happenings
So, on Saturday (2023-02-11), I found myself in the Marais, where every turn on the cobbled streets revealed an adorable little café, bakery or independent boutique filled with stylish trinkets.
This area was an absolute must-see, especially for a pink tutu aficionado like me! I had to grab some cute little French treats – pastries, pain au chocolat and macarons – it’s just the way to fuel up on a Saturday of Parisian discoveries! I wandered through this captivating quarter – feeling utterly delighted by all the pink things!
Oh, and how about the Parisian fashionistas, darlings? There were ladies in sleek pencil skirts paired with exquisite scarves, gals rocking trendy berets with oversized knit sweaters and – of course, a myriad of beautifully stylish people rocking a bold Parisian chic, something that will inspire my fashion wardrobe back in Derbyshire.
Now, onto the ultimate highlight of this Parisian escapade, my dear friends! I treated myself to a performance at the illustrious Opera Garnier! Oh, the opulent beauty, the glorious acoustics and the sheer theatrical genius – it was magical. I have a confession to make, darling – during the final performance, I did allow myself to slip into a mini-pirouette (don't judge!) right there on the second level of the opera house. Let’s just say it was utterly divine and added to the whimsical excitement.
Later in the evening, I indulged in a fantastic meal at a charming Parisian restaurant – oh, that Parisian elegance never ceases to impress! It was one of those meals that makes you feel as though you've stumbled upon a culinary treasure – think beautifully presented French cuisine in the most whimsical settings.
The restaurant’s decor was charming and romantic - lots of candelabras, lush fabrics, elegant lighting – and of course, I had the best time indulging in delicious French cuisine, a Parisian tradition I've long yearned to experience!
And let me tell you, there is something utterly intoxicating about strolling through the cobblestone streets of Paris as dusk begins to fall, its iconic landmarks shimmering with a magical glow. I took in the sights of the Eiffel Tower with a sparkling champagne flute in hand - an experience that transported me to a fairy tale – this is what dreams are made of!
My dear friends, it’s been an exhilarating whirlwind of a day. And as I bid adieu to my favourite pink tutu for the night (it deserves a rest!), I’m already counting down the days till I can once again indulge in Parisian glamour. I can’t wait to share my new Parisian discoveries with you.
Remember my little dears, keep twirling, stay fabulous and let’s spread the pink tutu love wherever we go! Until next week, I leave you with my favourite pink Parisian mantra: “Every day is a new opportunity to live life in a beautiful ballet.”
Until then, I'll be back with more Pink Tutu Adventures next Saturday!
Keep up with all the fun at www.pink-tutu.com
