Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #1206 - Saturday 4th February 2023
Bonjour, mes chères ballerinas!
This week, it’s Paris! The City of Lights, the fashion capital of the world, and a haven for lovers of ballet – and of course, tutus!
I'm thrilled to be back in this beautiful city, where the air seems to shimmer with creativity. My journey began in Derbyshire, England, a journey that whisked me away on the EuroStar, my favourite mode of travel, to Paris. It’s so comfy and allows me to take in the passing scenery – it’s a far more elegant experience than flying. The train carriages are like mini performance spaces - just the right size for a mini impromptu dance routine or, if feeling bold, a flash mob – pink tutus, naturally!
Of course, this journey isn’t just about enjoying the luxurious railway journey, it's about exploring, discovering, and finding inspiration, always with my favourite pink tutu by my side!
For my Parisian adventure, I opted for a beautiful pastel pink tulle creation with delicate silver beading, a true masterpiece that added a touch of Parisian chic to my ensemble. It flowed so perfectly as I navigated the busy streets, catching the eye of locals and tourists alike - every glance a small victory for my ultimate mission to get everyone to wear a pink tutu!
So, where did my Parisian ballet adventure lead me on this fabulously fashionable Saturday?
First up, a delightful morning spent at "L'École de Danse Classique de Paris", a charming dance studio nestled in the Latin Quarter. The cobbled street leading up to the building was adorned with pink crepe paper ribbons – such an inviting welcome for this ballerina! It is such a vibrant area, the perfect spot to get into the Paris vibe, before stepping into the studio and dancing with a bunch of enthusiastic locals. It is incredible to see the dedication to the art of ballet in such an eclectic place.
After a warming session, I grabbed a croissant - they were even more delicious in this enchanting part of Paris! - and a latte at a nearby cafe. The scent of freshly baked bread mixed with the strong coffee, made for a sensational treat. It felt like I was truly in the heart of the City of Lights.
The afternoon was all about experiencing the world-renowned fashion and design. We explored the "Galerie Vivienne", a stunning covered arcade that’s a treat for the eyes! Imagine a 19th-century passageway, lined with quaint boutiques and buzzing with activity. From chic cafes serving dainty pastries to art galleries bursting with colourful paintings, it was a feast for the senses! The space itself is so enchanting. It's the kind of place that whispers secrets and inspires creativity, I can't wait to share some of the fascinating details from my trip to Galerie Vivienne - keep an eye out for more about it in next week's blog.
Of course, a trip to Paris wouldn't be complete without a trip to a Parisian fashion house. What could be better than "A Parisienne Affair: Dior, Chanel & Beyond" - an incredible exhibition of French fashion that had me completely enchanted! The stunning designs in the exhibit transported me to a world of sophistication, where elegant lines and bold colours harmonised seamlessly with the whimsical textures of luxurious fabric. It was like stepping onto the pages of a stylish fairy tale! I left with my senses overflowing with new inspiration – you can expect a fabulous post full of photos soon.
And what is Paris without a visit to one of its stunning ballet shows! This time, it was “Romeo and Juliet” at "L’Opéra de Paris". As the curtains rose, revealing a breathtaking stage, a symphony of colour and movement swept over the audience - and then it happened...the dance began, and I was immediately swept away by the emotion and athleticism of the dancers! Their expressive movements, telling the tale of love, passion, and tragedy - and they didn't even have to say a word!
The show left me speechless and filled with the purest form of ballet bliss! To experience this kind of passionate and heartfelt performance on such a magnificent stage was simply a joy – you just had to be there to really appreciate the impact! I hope that, one day, I’ll be dancing on such a stage!
Paris - it always takes my breath away - from the Parisian street cafes with their relaxed ambiance, to the iconic fashion stores with their incredible window displays. It’s a city that has it all! I love the combination of art, culture, fashion, and delicious food - all a fantastic inspiration to any ballerina. Paris is such a treasure trove for finding beauty in the unexpected - I find myself inspired by everything I see!
As my journey into the Parisian world continues, I look forward to sharing more of this magical experience with all of you! So, be sure to join me next week as I tell you more about my latest Paris adventures. Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com for a weekly update on all things ballet-related.
