Pink Tutu Blog Paris #1218: Bonjour from the City of Lights!
Bonjour mes chéries! Emma here, your resident Pink Tutu enthusiast, back from the whirlwind of Parisian delights. It’s Saturday, 29th April 2023, and I’m finally catching my breath after an exhilarating few days exploring the city of love, fashion, and of course, ballet!
This week's adventure began on Thursday morning, boarding the sleek Eurostar in London St Pancras, feeling every bit the chic Parisian en route. You wouldn't believe the number of admiring glances I received in my pink tutu and oversized sunglasses (naturally, a touch of glitter on my cheeks wouldn't be out of place)! The train ride itself was a journey of enchantment. The views flitted by, and I found myself scribbling in my diary, penning a new ballet choreography inspired by the English countryside vanishing into the tunnel.
Landing in Gare du Nord felt like stepping onto the set of a glamorous French film. Parisian fashionistas, artists, and musicians flooded the streets, each with their own captivating flair. I instantly knew this city was meant for tutus! I grabbed a delicious croissant at a nearby patisserie – an absolute necessity, wouldn't you agree? – and decided to venture towards the heart of the City of Lights: the Eiffel Tower.
Seeing the iconic structure towering against the azure sky was truly breathtaking. It took me straight back to the first time I saw a ballet performance; awe and sheer exhilaration in equal measure. To be so close to the spirit of Paris – romance, beauty, art, history – well, it was almost too much for this tutu-loving girl!
Now, no trip to Paris is complete without indulging in a little retail therapy. And trust me, darling, the boutiques in the Marais district did not disappoint. I found the most divine blush pink silk scarf, perfect for twirling in, and some seriously chic vintage heels that will have everyone asking, "Did she buy those in Paris?" (Spoiler alert, yes, darling! 😉). Of course, I wouldn’t have left without a visit to the infamous Galeries Lafayette, where I snagged the most dazzling sparkly ballerina slippers (in, of course, pink!).
The evenings were filled with enchanting performances, from the stunning ballets at the Palais Garnier to the mesmerising cabaret shows in the Latin Quarter. I even caught a live show of the ballet street crew, ‘Parisian Pirouettes’ – their dazzling footwork and athleticism left me utterly speechless. They inspired me to explore the city on foot, and I found myself captivated by the bustling street performers, artists, and musicians, each a tiny glimpse into the heart and soul of Paris.
My journey back to Derbyshire felt like a fairytale ending. As I watched the English countryside slowly roll by from the Eurostar window, I felt filled with the vibrant energy of Paris. I'm already dreaming of my next Parisian escapade – perhaps a trip to the Musée du Louvre, where the iconic "Venus de Milo" seems to inspire tutus in its own right.
Speaking of inspiration, dear reader, I believe that even the smallest act of pink tutu defiance can spark joy and creativity. This week's challenge? Grab your fanciest tutu, wear it with a confident smile, and embrace the power of pink. It’s time to let our inner ballerina shine! And don't forget to check back next Saturday for another captivating story from the Pink Tutu Blog!
Au revoir, and don't forget to twirl! 💖
