Bonjour mes chéries!
The sunshine is streaming in through my window, illuminating the Eiffel Tower postcard nestled on my bedside table. Yes, darling, you read that right. Emma the Tutu Fairy is in Paris! This fabulous city of lights, fashion, and, of course, beautiful ballet! I arrived yesterday after a delightful journey on the Eurostar – it truly is the most civilised way to travel! And yes, I did wear a pink tutu. It felt entirely appropriate, wouldn't you agree?
Paris has always held a special place in my heart. It's like stepping into a dream. From the cobblestone streets lined with quaint cafes and charming shops to the stunning architecture that whispers tales of bygone eras, Paris is simply enchanting. The energy here is palpable – a contagious blend of chic elegance and unbridled joy.
My weekend itinerary, you ask? It's packed with pink and plenty of twirls, naturellement!
Friday, 16th August – Eurostar Adventures and Parisian Welcome
The day began in my little corner of Derbyshire. As usual, my wardrobe had a mini-meltdown, but eventually, I settled on the perfect Parisian outfit: a flowing pink chiffon dress with a blush-coloured tulle overlay (think vintage Parisian elegance with a playful twist!), my trusty black ballet flats (comfy yet chic!), and a sparkly pink clutch for that touch of Parisian magic.
The Eurostar was an absolute dream. I met the most lovely ladies on board – one was a budding young ballerina, the other, a vintage fashion aficionado with a wardrobe that would make Marie Antoinette green with envy. They were both delighted by my pink tutu! It truly is a conversation starter. I firmly believe we all need a bit more tutu in our lives!
We arrived in Gare du Nord feeling like Parisian stars. The city felt alive, a symphony of laughter and music. We checked into our beautiful hotel – all chic black and white interiors and plush velvet furnishings – right in the heart of the Marais district. A quick change (another pink outfit – can you even blame me?!), and we headed out for an early dinner.
Dinner was an experience. A quaint bistro tucked away on a charming cobblestone street. We savoured the traditional French cuisine (all those cheesy gratins and heavenly pastries!). And of course, I treated myself to a decadent pink macaron – a delightful symphony of textures and flavour!
Saturday, 17th August – Ballet Bliss and Fashion Frenzy
And so, we reach the present day, dear reader! I am bursting with excitement for all that lies ahead.
My morning will be dedicated to ballet, of course. Today, I'm off to the renowned École de Danse Parisienne for a ballet class. The iconic studio is renowned for its rigorous training and for being the alma mater of some of the most famous ballerinas in the world. Just the thought of twirling amongst those hallowed halls makes me tremble with excitement. I'll be sure to take photos for my Instagram – be sure to check out my @pink_tutu account for all the behind-the-scenes ballet magic!
After class, a much-needed shopping trip is on the agenda! The famous Galeries Lafayette and Printemps department stores beckon! Imagine all the pink shoes, dresses, and accessories that await! I’m on a mission to find the perfect vintage pink feather boa for a special ballet performance I’m planning back home.
Tonight, however, is dedicated to the magnificent world of ballet. The Opéra Garnier is hosting the La Fille Mal Gardée – an enchanting tale of young love and forbidden romance, beautifully brought to life with exquisite choreography and vibrant costumes. My excitement knows no bounds!
Sunday, 18th August - The Parisian Art Scene
As much as I love a good shopping spree and the intoxicating rush of a ballet performance, my heart also yearns for art and culture. On Sunday, I plan to wander through the streets of Montmartre – the enchanting bohemian district famous for its stunning Sacré-Coeur Basilica. I hear the views from there are simply breathtaking, overlooking the city like a sprawling Parisian tapestry. I’m already dreaming of the perfect picture – pink tutu with the Parisian skyline in the background!
My final Parisian adventure will be a visit to the Musée Rodin, where I'll be captivated by the sculpted masterpieces of the renowned Auguste Rodin. It's no secret that ballet and sculpture have a deep connection. Each graceful pose and flowing line resonates with a deep artistic understanding, transcending the boundaries of art and dance. I can already envision myself posing beside The Thinker, a ballerina in thought.
A Little Bit of Magic
This weekend in Paris, I'm letting myself indulge in all the wonders of this incredible city. The Parisian magic is tangible, intoxicating, a potent mix of creativity, history, and a captivating charm that leaves you utterly spellbound.
There is truly a piece of Paris within every one of us, a spark of inspiration and creativity just waiting to be unleashed. So let’s go forth, darlings, and twirl with Parisian grace, embrace the colours of life, and maybe even wear a pink tutu for the ultimate touch of whimsy.
Adieu, from the pink tutu-wearing ballerina in Paris!
Stay tuned for my next Parisian escapade! And remember, dear reader, to always sprinkle your life with a little bit of magic.
Xx,
Emma
