Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post 1309: Paris, Mon Amour! 💖🩰🗼

Bonjour, mes chéries! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, writing to you from the City of Lights! Yes, darling, Paris is calling, and I’ve answered!

This week, I decided to take my pink tutu to a whole new level of fabulous. I traded in the quaint cobblestones of Derbyshire for the chic, Parisian streets, taking the Eurostar over to Paris – oh, how I love that magical train journey! The whirring and clanging of the rails always gets me feeling excited. I’ve got to say, those continental train lines are far superior to our dear old UK railways – maybe they're onto something with all those pastries and hot chocolates!

Paris has a different energy – it's all about elegance and glamour, a complete contrast to my Derbyshire life of hay bales and horse shows!

It felt fantastic to step out of Gare du Nord – the air buzzing with a different vibe, a little bit magic, and I'm convinced the air itself is scented with perfume and freshly baked croissants. It’s no wonder the fashionistas flock to this gorgeous city, the clothes shops here are simply exquisite – especially for a pink-tutu aficionado like me!

But what are we up to today? You may be asking, "Emma, what does a pink tutu wear to a Parisian cafe?” Well, you just wait and see!

A Ballet Bonanza!

As soon as I arrived, I knew where to head first - the Paris Opera House. The home of world-class ballet and grand, dazzling performances, what more could a pink-tutu-loving girl ask for? I just adore watching graceful dancers and feeling their passion for their art, their every movement like a whisper of magic.

This Saturday, January 25th, is a special day for Paris, filled with Parisian enchantment: the Opéra Garnier hosted "The Sleeping Beauty", an exquisite ballet production I'd been dying to see. Oh, darling, the costumes! The costumes, they were pure sparkle! They just added to the enchantment of the performance - a true celebration of ballet. My own pink tutu may be a far cry from the magnificent tutus in the ballet, but hey, it was all I could think about as the beautiful ballerinas waltzed and twirled around the stage. I swear, I saw more than a few people staring at my tutu – even the elegant French women!

A Foodie's Fantasy

After the ballet, I indulged in a Parisian culinary delight. I dined in a quaint little café, tucked away on a cobblestone street in the Latin Quarter. Think charming tables, checkered tablecloths, a menu that made my mouth water. And yes, my darlings, it's the moment you’ve been waiting for! I wore my pink tutu with pride amongst the Parisians. The gentleman in the next booth even complimented my choice of outfit - a French "Très Chic!" which must mean something truly fabulous, darling!

Let me tell you, they are quite proud of their pastries and cafes here, and let's just say, my tummy was certainly singing! I sampled everything – croissants, macarons, tarte Tatin. Honestly, it was almost a crime not to take a few extra back to the hotel for a midnight snack – just a little taste of Paris. The coffee, that coffee, oh the glorious smell – I can’t wait to get my own Parisian espresso machine.

Fashion Finds - Parisian Style

Darling, of course no trip to Paris is complete without a spot of retail therapy. I had to visit some of the iconic Parisian department stores. You just cannot deny their allure, that is until you see the prices… my goodness!

Here’s where my pink tutu got me into trouble! (What a surprise, eh?) It seems, pink tutus have the uncanny ability to draw in curious shoppers! A shop assistant came rushing over to me and showered me with questions. “Did you create your own tutu?” “Do you wear it everywhere?" "Do you make tutus for others?"

It seems Parisian style is embracing a touch of magic and whimsy and a splash of bright pink – even if it means embracing the occasional pink tutu! And let me tell you, they were more than a little surprised when I confessed that yes, darling, I wear my pink tutu EVERYWHERE. I may even have tempted a few to follow my lead – maybe even wearing a pink tutu themselves!

I discovered the most beautiful shoes at "Bonton", a chic Parisian children's store. It’s overflowing with playful clothing, stylish dresses, gorgeous, little boots - everything just cries out to be photographed, a pink tutu would look incredible with the outfit! Of course, I tried to keep my purchases down to just a couple of pairs of sparkly ballet shoes – the temptation to buy for a certain little person I know was hard to resist – you know the one.

*I just couldn't help but snag a pair of chic heels with pink glitter on them, it’s a rule of mine, never go home without something pink. * These heels, darling, they were calling my name! I may have had to skip the afternoon macaron and croissant, but hey, when shoes this lovely call you, you just answer!

A Touch of the Unexpected - Street Performances

Another Parisian adventure took me to the "Île de la Cité," which feels straight out of a romantic novel, even better with a pink tutu in tow! You just can’t help but feel swept away by the beauty of the Seine and the enchanting Parisian ambiance.

As I explored this romantic corner of Paris, I was surprised by a street performance that really stopped me in my tracks - a "ballet flash mob". A small group of dancers, seemingly dressed in everyday clothes, launched into a beautiful choreography – it was unexpected, stunning, and completely enchanting!

I swear, for a moment, the entire Île de la Cité paused in wonder as these impromptu dancers performed, their movement smooth, graceful. It just solidified that Paris is filled with surprises and whimsy, it’s almost impossible to predict where you might find a touch of artistic brilliance - like a dancer in a pink tutu!

As my time in Paris drew to a close, I realised this trip had gone way beyond shopping and delicious treats. I had a truly amazing experience. The energy of Paris - it's in the streets, the cobblestones, the café terraces, it just flows around you! I soaked up every last moment of my pink tutu pilgrimage to this romantic city. The Paris air is truly intoxicating, especially when you wear your favourite pink tutu and experience all its enchantments.

Until next week, mes chéries, au revoir! I'm dreaming of the ballet and, of course, Paris!

Love, Emma 💖🩰
