Bonjour from the City of Lights, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, back with another post from my fabulous Parisian adventure!
It feels absolutely magical to be here in Paris, especially during the festive season. The whole city sparkles, and it's almost impossible not to be swept away by the romantic atmosphere. As soon as I stepped off the Eurostar at Gare du Nord (always a fun journey - I can't resist twirling in my pink tutu as we speed through the French countryside), I was instantly mesmerised by the sights and sounds of the city. I knew this would be the perfect setting for a weekend full of balletic bliss, beautiful fashion, and, of course, some truly exquisite shopping!
Now, before we delve into the heart of my Parisian escapades, a little confession... December 26th was not just any random day! Did you know? Today marks the anniversary of my very first professional ballet performance! Ten years ago, I stood nervously backstage in Derby, Derbyshire, and with a flutter in my heart, danced my way onto the stage. It's a milestone that still feels surreal, but the memory fuels my passion for this art form more than ever. And you know what? My whole Paris adventure feels like the most perfect celebration of this journey.
The City That Never Stops Dancing
Right from the moment I arrived at my Parisian apartment, which has the most gorgeous view over the Seine River, I felt the magic of Paris washing over me. It's almost like the city breathes ballet – the graceful curves of the buildings, the elegant Parisian women, even the way the sunlight plays on the streets... It's just the perfect backdrop for twirling!
And let's be honest, darlings, it would be impossible to come to Paris and not attend a ballet performance, wouldn't it? My favourite ballet, "Giselle", was on at the Paris Opera House. Oh, the splendour! The ornate decorations, the shimmering chandeliers, and the exquisite costumes were enough to make any ballerina’s heart beat faster. Seeing those incredible dancers, their bodies telling stories with every move, inspired me to new heights. It’s a reminder that with dedication, passion, and a dash of glitter (let's be honest, there’s always room for glitter!), dreams can be achieved.
Pink Tutu Paris Shopping Spree
After my theatrical feast, no trip to Paris is complete without a dose of retail therapy! I love how Paris is like a giant boutique. Every street is brimming with fabulous boutiques, and I practically felt my inner shopaholic scream with joy. I simply had to explore the shops on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, where some of the world’s most exquisite couture houses reside. Can we just talk about the shoes? Oh, darling, they were to die for! Imagine delicate ballet slippers paired with the perfect pink tutu – I practically saw myself twirling down the Champs-Élysées!
My other favourite haunt for Parisian chic? The Marais. It's a little neighbourhood gem filled with independent boutiques and designer brands. I even found the most beautiful handmade pink ballet tutu – just a tiny one, mind you – which I intend to decorate my little dressing table at home with!
Fashion Notes and Style Inspiration
Of course, as a pink-tutu loving girl, I couldn't resist incorporating some Parisian style inspiration into my outfits! While in Paris, I embraced the chic Parisian look. This weekend I opted for a classic black turtleneck paired with my favourite pink tutu skirt and a beret. The whole look is Parisian, stylish, and of course, infused with a little pink tutu magic. I added a touch of vintage charm with a tiny crossbody bag – because even ballerinas need a bit of practicality in their lives, darling. And wouldn’t you know it, I spotted a beautiful little bakery right by the river that even sold little pink-coloured macarons, perfect to enjoy after a delicious coffee and a good ballet practice session!
More to Come...
That’s just a glimpse into my weekend in Paris, darling. But there’s so much more to tell – I discovered a hidden gem in the Latin Quarter, stumbled upon a wonderful ballet workshop, and of course, ate a LOT of delicious croissants! Join me again next Saturday for more Paris adventures on www.pink-tutu.com and don't forget to wear a pink tutu! It’s my mission to make the world a little brighter, one tutu at a time. Au revoir, my lovely readers!
With love and twirls, Emma
