Bonjour, mes chéri(e)s!
It's your favourite tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, back from the City of Lights, ready to share another week's worth of Parisian escapades with you. This week has been absolutely pinktastic, overflowing with ballet, fashion, and oh-so-much je ne sais quoi!
As you all know, my recent journey to Paris was all thanks to a wonderfully successful run in Swan Lake last month. What better way to celebrate my triumphant final curtsy than with a whistle-stop trip to Paris? I simply couldn't resist a little escapade across the Channel to experience all the magical enchantment this city has to offer.
I must confess, I find the Eurostar an absolute dream for travelling. The sleek, modern trains with their comfy seats, speedy service and a generous legroom, make for such a luxurious start to any trip. My tutu stayed pristine all the way from Derby!
Landing in Gare du Nord, Paris just whispered to me, inviting me to get lost in its beauty and glamour. This week, Paris truly did live up to every expectation.
A Day at the OperaThe highlight of this trip was undoubtedly the evening performance at the Palais Garnier. The Opera Garnier, with its opulent grandeur and historical legacy, has always been on my ballet bucket list. Oh my goodness, what an incredible evening! Seeing La Bayadère brought me right back to my dancing days. It was truly breathtaking - the costumes, the set design, the precision of the dancers...it left me utterly speechless. I'm sure I even cried a little!
The only slight downer was my tutu getting caught on a stray coat rack handle in the theatre foyer, causing a little unraveling incident! However, I patched it up in my hotel room with a couple of bobby pins and a sprinkle of fairy dust – the magic of my trusty sewing kit always prevails!
Pink Princess on the SeineSpeaking of the Seine, how can I not mention the most gorgeous boat trip I took on the river on a sun-kissed afternoon? A glass of champagne, a croissant (or three!), and a truly magnificent view of the Eiffel Tower? Heaven!
The Seine itself seemed to glisten with a pink hue – perhaps it was the reflection of my glorious tutu!
A Little Shopping TherapyA Parisian adventure wouldn't be complete without a shopping spree, would it? My Pink Tutu needs constant replenishment of gorgeous accessories and fashion treasures! I found a beautiful boutique filled with whimsical floral-printed blouses, silk scarves, and, naturally, some exquisitely crafted tulle. You can bet I came home with a pink satin headband and a sparkly silver brooch that would make a ballerina’s heart skip a beat!
I can't help myself; the colour pink makes my heart soar! It reminds me of spring, of blossoming flowers, of happiness and carefree days twirling in the sun! It's not just a colour for me, it’s a feeling. A feeling I hope to inspire in everyone.
Paris: A City of InspirationParis, with its rich history, romantic ambiance, and artistic heart, truly feels like a second home to me. Every cobbled street, every enchanting bridge, every little cafe buzzing with life…it’s just magic. It fuels my love for the art of ballet, inspiring me to dream bigger, to twirl brighter, to always pursue my passions.
Paris is, dare I say it, a very pink-friendly city! Pink blossoms bursting forth on trees lining the streets, charming Parisian cafes with pink floral tablecloths, a rainbow of colours on the stalls at Les Halles…It’s all pure pink delight. I wouldn’t be surprised if this city was designed with me in mind!
Of course, every trip needs a good dose of traditional French pastries. Oh, the deliciousness of those creamy, flaky croissants! And the macarons! A delicate whisper of pink buttercream sandwiched between delicate, colourful meringue cookies - a taste of pure Parisian bliss.
Tutu TimeTo conclude, let me say this: this trip to Paris was nothing short of dreamy! But now it’s back to the real world and my ballet rehearsals! I've got a very busy schedule ahead of me with the upcoming season kicking off next month.
My next ballet performance is The Nutcracker in December! I’m already excited!
