Prague, My Love! #PinkTutuPrague, Post 4!

Hello darling readers! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Prague adventures! I’m so excited to be sharing more of this incredible city with you.

As a reminder, if you haven't checked out my first three Prague posts, Pink Tutu Prague - The Train to Prague, Pink Tutu Prague – First Impressions, and Pink Tutu Prague - Finding the Perfect Pink Tutu on my blog www.pink-tutu.com, you're seriously missing out on my Parisian pink tulle delights! And you wouldn’t want to miss how I’ve embraced Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires – my own personal Parisian dreams come true.

My little dance shoes are already aching for my first Prague performance, but before we get to the ballet (oh, don’t worry, the excitement’s just around the corner!), let’s talk about this week’s highlights. This past Sunday was pure magic, filled with a blend of old and new, beauty and tradition.

It all started at Prague Castle on a glorious morning. Honestly, the whole experience was just breath-taking. The castle sits on a hill overlooking the whole of Prague, with its majestic architecture, cobblestone paths and breathtaking views. I felt like I had stepped into a fairy tale.

As you know, I’m a big fan of fashion and history (the history of tutus especially!). So you can only imagine my excitement walking into the Old Royal Palace. Every detail whispered a story – the Golden Lane with its quaint little houses, the beautiful St. Vitus Cathedral, and the enchanting Charles Bridge across the Vltava River.

There was even a cute little souvenir shop with the most adorable vintage postcards - I snapped them up immediately, naturally, because they will be the perfect additions to my Pink Tutu Prague collection, once framed with pink of course!

My visit to Old Town Square was a symphony of sights and sounds, particularly at The Old Town Hall, with its stunning astronomical clock, that played its musical display in the afternoon. And honestly, the sheer scale of the Tyn Church, with its Gothic twin spires pointing towards the sky – I just couldn't tear my eyes away. I’m getting a little pink-tinted, but Prague truly is a sight to behold.

After my historical jaunt, I spent the rest of the day strolling through the Prague Old Town, indulging in the deliciously Czech trdelník, this cinnamon-sugar pastry that’s the epitome of “sweet” satisfaction! My fellow pink-tutu enthusiasts know the perfect treat is one with a bit of pink! So imagine my glee when I found a baker who dipped the trdelník in pink frosting! I'm definitely going back for another pink pastry before I head home!

Later in the evening, I took in a performance by the National Theatre. Prague is full of so many talented artists, with their captivating stories. The production of Tosca, a timeless Italian opera with its passionate and dramatic performance, left me speechless. It was a true feast for the senses. The sheer energy in the room was electrifying. I found myself swaying with the melodies and getting completely swept away by the performances – it’s amazing how a simple piece of music can stir so many emotions!

Even though this blog is mostly about my travels, I must confess, my time spent in Prague isn't solely about sightseeing and pastries – much as I do love those, of course. It's also been about finding some truly inspiring and unique pieces for my wardrobe! Oh darling, I promise, a new blog post all about it is coming your way very soon!

Speaking of inspiring pieces, how's about we move on to my beloved ballet? You’re not going to believe what I discovered about the ballet scene in Prague this week. Prepare to be wowed…

Imagine my delight upon discovering a stunning old Prague Opera House, adorned with majestic details and intricate architectural flourishes. The ballet tradition here goes way back, you know – a real love affair between this city and ballet. As if the very architecture was built for dancers!

I must share a secret I found out in this opera house…it was originally built for a famous 19th-century Italian opera company, with ballet performances as an integral part of their shows! I absolutely love stories like this. There's a genuine romanticism associated with the old ways. So much about history unfolds as you travel - Prague was brimming with so many amazing ballet gems to find. And speaking of gems, how about a glimpse of my little gem? My Pink Tutu Prague will shine with this opera house as my backdrop this Saturday.

I had a special invitation from the theatre director, to watch their rehearsal - talk about making a splash! I can’t share the ballet yet, darling readers, but I’m making it my secret - something fabulous to share with you on my next blog post!

But before I say farewell for this week – because who wants to wait that long – you simply must take a peek at this incredible little dance academy I discovered this week…It's truly a gem in this incredible city. The academy itself, called the Taneční Centrum Prague, has got everything you need. A beautifully refurbished old dance hall that's a ballerina’s dream!

The moment I walked into the Taneční Centrum Prague I felt right at home. They had ballet barres adorning the entire hall – there’s nothing better than the gleam of wood. I got so caught up with my inner ballerina – my own personal practice routine, so much so, that I completely forgot my camera. Don’t you just hate it when that happens! However, as much as my pink tutu wishes to share everything, I managed to snap this sneaky shot. This little picture definitely doesn’t capture the magic of this stunning little academy.

I am making plans for my Pink Tutu Prague to take to the dance floor here. Imagine my pink tutu against those gleaming ballet barres. Pure magic!

But even more important is the heart and soul behind this ballet centre – a passionate, experienced teacher, and her dance students. The sheer enthusiasm was contagious - so exciting and vibrant! Watching these budding ballet stars – especially a little girl no older than six with the grace of an angel – was an amazing sight to behold. And I can’t believe I’m saying this… the whole atmosphere was so very much about community, support, and nurturing dreams, making me realise this was so much more than a ballet school.

And the other amazing thing, apart from these vibrant dance enthusiasts, you know where I spotted one of my very favourite things in the world…well I spotted many things, if truth be told. But one thing truly blew my pink tutu away. This stunning vintage tutu tucked in a corner of the centre, looking just as elegant and graceful as if it had come off a stage! I may have even snuck it on (in a very safe and careful way – I’m not a wrecking ball, darling!) for a little photo op!

The academy’s passion for dance and dedication to each student reminded me why I fell in love with ballet in the first place – and with the tutu, of course. It's all about freedom, expression, and, of course, pink tutus! The heart of this dance school reminds me that every dancer’s journey is unique, their steps special, and they each hold their own version of a pink tutu dream.

As I reflect on my week in Prague, it’s clear, this city of a hundred spires is an endless source of inspiration – and beauty. But there’s much more for Pink Tutu Prague to explore and a plethora of pink moments to share! Until then, happy pirouettes and keep spreading your pink tutu love!

And keep checking out Pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for your weekly pink tutu delights! Until next week!

Lots of pink tutu love, Emma
