Prague Diaries: Pink Tutus and a Whirlwind of Charm! (Post #3)

Hello my darling darlings! Welcome back to my weekly peek into the pink-tinted world of a travelling ballerina! This week, I'm buzzing with excitement after a whirlwind trip to Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires, and oh my goodness, did it live up to the hype! It was a glorious symphony of medieval charm, captivating architecture, and - of course - stunning performances that stole my heart!

The Journey: A Magical Ride

Leaving the rolling hills of Derbyshire, my journey started with a chug-a-chugging adventure aboard a train, the scent of roasted nuts and anticipation clinging to the air. Honestly, the thrill of train travel is utterly intoxicating – a world of windows and endless stories. And let’s not forget the exquisite fashion scene on board – I spied an adorable woman sporting a scarlet beret and a perfectly vintage trench coat. I just had to snap a photo - you know how I am!

But I couldn't be truly on a trip without a little touch of the extraordinary. So, as we neared Prague, I decided to do something I’d only dreamt of - a magical carriage ride! A gorgeous dappled grey pony with a silky mane took me the final stretch into the city. We were a pair of dreamers in the crisp air, and even the cobbles seemed to whisper secrets as we trotted towards the Old Town Square.

Prague's Splendour: A Pink-Tinted View

Prague truly is a spectacle! It's like stepping into a fairy tale - gothic churches pierce the sky, colourful houses line cobblestone streets, and the river Vltava meanders through it all like a ribbon of silver. Even the shops seem to have a charm all their own - brimming with Bohemian glass and beautifully crafted trinkets. I found a whimsical little store overflowing with embroidered pillows, silk scarves, and even a velvet cushion emblazoned with a tiny dancing ballerina – perfect for my ballerina-themed boudoir, wouldn’t you agree?

But let's get down to the real reason I came to this captivating city - the ballet! The magical energy buzzing through Prague resonated with my soul. The cobbled streets felt like the stage of my life, every corner beckoning with stories waiting to be danced out.

A Ballet Dream in Prague

On the 17th of May, I was absolutely enchanted by the National Theatre. Imagine the opulence: a grand, soaring ceiling, velvet seating, and the soft murmur of excitement echoing through the auditorium as the lights dimmed. The air tingled with anticipation, a symphony of hushed breaths as the curtain rose on the ballet performance – my absolute heart's delight.

Tonight's ballet was "Giselle" - a masterpiece of dramatic storytelling through movement. The performance was nothing short of divine, each graceful movement, every expressive gesture – it was poetry in motion. The ballerina’s leaps were so high they seemed to brush the celestial heavens. I, for one, could practically feel the ethereal emotions weaving through the air.

I was entranced by the artistry, by the skill, the dedication - the ballet's history, and its connection to a legacy of artistry spanning centuries was just intoxicating! After the performance, I even bought myself a beautiful antique ballerina brooch. She’s the most precious keepsake, a testament to this magnificent journey.

A Fashionable Frenzy: Pink and Pretty in Prague

Prague's vibrant atmosphere isn't just about ballet, darling! The city also breathes style, and it’s almost impossible to resist indulging in some fabulous fashion finds.

This week, I indulged in a pink shopping spree! I snagged a delicate silk scarf printed with swirling cherry blossom, a floral print pencil skirt in a shade of blush pink, and a truly gorgeous pair of pink leather ballet flats! The streets were bursting with creativity - bohemian dresses fluttering in the wind, colourful patterns adorning quirky shopfronts.

I found a hidden gem of a boutique overflowing with handmade accessories, a truly bohemian delight! I even spotted a pair of earrings, two tiny pink tutus dangling from shimmering gold hoops. Perfect for adding a whimsical touch to my daily ballerina looks, don't you think?

My Prague Challenge

Now, I can't leave you without a little challenge for you, my dearest readers! I think every city has a little bit of the ballet dancer within, even if they don’t realize it!

  • My Prague Challenge: Pick a pink accessory (a scarf, a bag, a brooch – anything!), put it on, find the prettiest street or spot in your town or city, strike a ballet pose (even a little twirl!), and share your picture with me on my Pink Tutu website! So, until next week, darlings! Stay glamorous, keep dancing, and keep dreaming pink!
