Prague: A Ballet-tastic Dream Come True (Post #16)

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma from the Pink Tutu, and I'm so thrilled to be back with you all for another Wednesday blog post! This week, I'm writing to you from the enchanting city of Prague, a place that has stolen my heart (and my wardrobe budget) with its charm, history, and of course, its fabulous ballet scene!

You know me, I love to travel, and what better way to explore the world than by train? The journey from Derbyshire was absolutely delightful. As the countryside flew by, I couldn't resist whipping out my trusty sketchbook and capturing the enchanting English scenery. Of course, I was sporting a beautiful new pink tutu with embroidered wildflowers - perfect for my countryside sketching spree. It’s just so lovely to embrace the freedom of travel and all its spontaneous moments. Don’t forget to check out my ‘Travelogue: My London To Prague Railway Adventures' post on www.pink-tutu.com!

Now, back to Prague! This city truly is a masterpiece, a romantic blend of architectural marvels and charming cobblestone streets. The Vltava river, glistening like a silver ribbon through the city, adds an extra layer of magic. You simply cannot escape its fairytale atmosphere!

As soon as I arrived, I knew this city would be my happy place. From the second my train pulled into the station, I was smitten. And of course, I made sure my pink tutu and matching handbag made a grand entrance. I simply couldn't resist! It's amazing how the right outfit can instantly lift your mood, you know?

Speaking of outfits, my darling friends, you simply must check out Prague's enchanting fashion scene! This city boasts a treasure trove of vintage shops and boutiques, bursting with unique finds. I’ve already snagged a stunning pink silk dress that’s simply perfect for my evening performance in the Old Town Square - oh yes, my dear readers, I'll be gracing the stage with a delightful dance routine tonight! It’s a bit of a gamble, performing on the street but I’ve made a lot of wonderful connections through performing at Covent Garden, I feel like I can truly be myself in a new place, and so what if it only gets me £20, but it’s worth every penny when I meet such wonderful people!

Oh, speaking of ballet, Prague is truly a ballet haven! You see, it boasts a vibrant history of ballet, with an abundance of talented dancers and captivating performances. This weekend, I’m planning on indulging in the renowned Prague Ballet at the magnificent National Theatre. The grand architecture of the theatre, adorned with elaborate murals and dazzling chandeliers, is breathtaking. I hear their productions are spectacular, blending grace, artistry, and passion, just the way I love it!

Before our journey into the Prague Ballet’s heart, we can’t go without a dive into the tutu history. Did you know, the first tutu, the romantic tutu was conceived as a skirt designed for dancing by the French ballerina Marie Taglioni, as a counter to the traditional, long skirts and pantaloons of the late 1830s? How splendid. In fact, she’s been cited as having helped to move ballet away from a purely academic form and to something much more artistic and dramatic! And we all know a girl’s gotta have the right tools to truly express her dramatic self. Oh darling, you’re so clever for knowing that!

Now, you're probably wondering about the grand performance itself! Of course, I’ve booked a box, a front row seat for my first night’s show! Who needs the stage when you can feel like a queen watching a king’s performance. They have a wonderful program this week, and I'm excited to see some famous ballet icons dancing on stage! Of course, it wouldn’t be a complete ballet experience without the right shoes and hair do, and this time I've outdone myself, darling. You won't believe what I managed to buy here, it’s like a dream - so it’s a shame that it will just be me, myself and I watching this week. But no worries, my darlings! Next week, you can find out all the gory details! For tonight, I must be going, because a queen must look the part!

Don't forget to join me next Wednesday for another magical blog post from the streets of Prague! Until then, keep twirling, keep shining, and remember: a little bit of pink is all you need to add a touch of magic to your day!

Much love,

Emma xxx
