Prague - A Whirlwind of Pink Tutus & Bohemia (Blog Post #33)

Hello my lovely tutu enthusiasts! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - time for a fresh new blog post from yours truly, Emma, your Pink Tutu Queen, reporting live from Prague!

As I write this, I can almost feel the warmth of the cobblestones beneath my feet and smell the divine aroma of goulash wafting from a nearby cafe. This city is a dream, a blend of ancient history, vibrant life, and… well, a surprising number of pink tutu-wearing opportunities! (Just kidding, or am I?)

My journey to Prague, as always, began with a touch of whimsical magic. I found myself swept away to the enchanting city of a hundred spires aboard a quaint vintage train, the kind with plush velvet seats and windows that open for a whiff of fresh air. It’s just my style!

But before we delve deeper into the magical world of Prague, let's rewind for a moment. My voyage from the rolling green hills of Derbyshire to the charming Czech Republic was, of course, funded by the power of… you guessed it! My ballet performances.

You see, life for a pink tutu-wearing ballerina like myself isn't just about pirouettes and arabesques, although I must admit I do get a fair share of them! It's about living a life of passion, travelling the world, spreading a bit of pink tutu joy wherever I go, and, most importantly, financing it all through my love for the stage!

My last show was a delightful ballet extravaganza themed around the story of "The Little Mermaid". The audience went wild! I mean, how can you resist a mermaid wearing a dazzlingly pink tutu, shimmering with pearlescent scales? It's simply magic!

With my pockets a little fuller (thanks, Mermaid!) I finally boarded that vintage train and set off for Prague, where I was met with a tapestry of cobblestone streets, towering cathedrals, and enough historical charm to make even the most jaded of travellers blush.

But before I gush about Prague, let me show you what this week's blog has in store for you, my dear readers:

  • The Grand Unveiling of My New Tutu Collection! You won't believe the beautiful, delicate tulle I found in a vintage fabric shop, tucked away in one of the narrow alleys of Prague. Prepare yourselves for some truly stunning, whimsical creations!
  • Prague's Ballerina Gems - Exploring Ballet History & Treasures. Did you know this city is steeped in a rich ballet legacy? We’ll be diving into Prague’s Ballet archives, visiting some of the grand old theaters and uncovering the ballet secrets hidden within the walls of this city.
  • Shopping Spree & Fashion Fiesta: Pink Tutu Prague Style. Because every trip wouldn't be complete without some serious shopping! And you know me - I’m always on the hunt for the perfect pink tulle skirt, the chicest accessories to add a touch of sparkle to my everyday outfits, and some fabulously trendy pink tutu-inspired street wear for all my ballerina-loving friends.

But enough with the exciting teasers! Let’s jump into our first adventure!

13th December 1995: My Prague Ballet Debut

The excitement started brewing the moment I stepped out of the station. This city, my dear readers, has an energy unlike anything I've ever encountered. Prague truly does live up to its reputation as a City of a Hundred Spires! My heart practically skipped a beat when I caught my first glimpse of the magnificent Charles Bridge. I’m telling you, this place is an absolute fairy tale.

Speaking of fairytales, after settling into my charming little guesthouse in the heart of Prague, I realised that the very reason for my trip was unfolding on this magical night – the National Theatre ballet performance!

You can't just come to Prague and miss out on the renowned ballet, right? Well, let me tell you, the energy inside the theatre was incredible. Imagine, the sound of thousands of applauses filling the grand space as the ballerinas, looking exquisite in their classic white tutus, swirled gracefully across the stage. It was mesmerizing! The dancers' movements were fluid, precise, and full of emotion. Even the most intricate steps were done with such poise. They were truly captivating!

While I was utterly enthralled by the elegance of the show, there was just one thing missing, darling – pink tutus!

My dear readers, I understand I might be slightly biased (just a little!), but pink tutus add a certain je ne sais quoi to any performance. Maybe next time, the Prague ballet company will take inspiration from my humble blog and stage a beautiful, ballet extravaganza bathed in shades of pink? Wouldn’t that be splendid!

Pink Tutu Adventures Around Prague

With a renewed sense of purpose (and a very stylish pink tote bag filled with some incredible vintage finds from the markets), I ventured into the charming, historic cobbled streets of Prague, seeking out its many hidden gems.

Every turn was a picture postcard. The medieval houses painted in pastel colors with intricately carved window frames, the winding alleys lined with vibrant floral displays, the captivating statues nestled among the lively streets – every detail of Prague seems meticulously orchestrated, like a magical stage set, but a wonderfully lived-in, warm stage set.

As a seasoned traveller (and an experienced ballerina!) I made a mental note to return to this charming city in warmer months. Just imagine, my dear readers, a dreamy sunset walk over Charles Bridge with the iconic views, enjoying the warm air and a charming café au lait. This city, this enchanting city, has my heart and soul!

But for now, my pink tutu-loving journey through Prague continues. We’re about to enter a new chapter, my darling readers. I hope you're ready for a whirlwind tour of this enchanting city and an exclusive sneak peek into my newly-discovered pink tutu treasures!

Stay tuned for my next post, where I will guide you through the grand palaces of Prague, uncover hidden tutu gems in vintage shops, and, of course, I’ll give you my verdict on the best places for a perfect cup of Czech coffee! Until then, stay pink, stay fabulous and keep your twirling shoes ready!

See you next Wednesday, darlings!
