Prague, darling, Prague! (Blog Post #36)

Bonjour mes chérie! It's Wednesday, so that means it's time for another adventure with your favourite pink-loving ballerina, yours truly! This week I'm shimmying and twirling my way through Prague, a city so utterly enchanting it could rival a Tchaikovsky score! I landed here on Tuesday morning after a gloriously scenic train ride through the rolling countryside of Germany. My trusty travel companion, the oh-so-adorable Penny, accompanied me, of course. You see, my trusty steed Penny isn't your average travel buddy - she's a magnificent white pony! (Don't worry, she has a fancy horse box for her luxurious transport. My pink tutu gets a special seat too, you know, darling!)

Prague has welcomed me with open arms, or should I say, charming cobblestone streets and fairytale-esque architecture? It's utterly breathtaking, the sort of city that takes your breath away just by gazing upon it. I mean, who could resist a cityscape sprinkled with gothic spires, colourful baroque palaces and the majestic Charles Bridge, spanning across the Vltava river? It’s positively romantic! And let's not forget about the adorable little cafĂ©s nestled in alleyways and the buzzing market stalls brimming with local crafts. I just can’t get enough!

Fashion Forward: Pink Tutus in Prague

But it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu blog post without a little sartorial inspiration, wouldn’t it? This city’s fashion is positively delightful! Imagine swirling skirts, cascading floral prints, and an array of stylish hues that scream “chic sophistication.” My pink tutu is definitely a statement piece here, darling! The locals, well, they’re completely charmed by it. There was this sweet lady on the Charles Bridge who asked me if I was a fairy! Of course I didn't let on that I was just an ordinary ballerina, with a very pink agenda. It’s amazing how even a little tulle can transform an everyday moment into something magical.

My wardrobe has been making the most of this picturesque backdrop, and I've been taking inspiration from Prague's beautiful architecture for my daily looks. Imagine flowy maxi dresses paired with chunky heels, vintage sweaters tucked into high-waisted jeans, and all those delightful little accents, like colourful scarves and chunky necklaces. Oh, and of course, I can’t forget my signature touch: a pink, feather boa and a bejewelled crown! I do believe I've been channeling a bit of my inner Queen of Bohemia.

Prague Ballet Adventures

The biggest highlight of my Prague journey, darling, has to be the Ballet performance I witnessed last night at the historic Estates Theatre. You simply MUST put this on your ballet-loving bucket list. Oh, it was magnificent! The programme featured works from the renowned Czech Ballet, showcasing breathtaking technique and captivating storytelling. There were swirling pirouettes, soaring leaps, and the most beautiful corps de ballet, it made my tutu practically twitch in delight. It was utterly breathtaking! The theatre itself, built in the 18th century, added an air of grandeur and tradition to the whole experience. You know how much I love theatre history. It simply brought me to tears! The performance brought a real spark of inspiration to my dance life! Now I'm dreaming of taking some ballet classes here and meeting other passionate dancers. Perhaps some friendly local ballerinas who can show me the ropes!

Speaking of dance history, this city's rich history and artistic culture is intoxicating! I’m so excited to be learning all about it! I discovered the stunning building where Mozart conducted his first opera! Can you believe it? I spent hours exploring the impressive Prague Castle, its rich history spanning centuries and showcasing stunning architectural feats.

The beauty of this city isn’t just its external appearance though, Prague has so much to offer, even down to its hidden nooks and crannies. Did you know there's an entire street devoted to the art of magic? Yes, a street of magic, full of mystics and tarot card readers! I just had to give it a try. Of course, I had to wear my lucky pink tutu, it’s amazing how it helps me find those little hidden gems of Prague!

Food, Fashion and Festivities

Of course, I can’t forget about the food! Prague has blown me away with its delectable offerings. Delicious pastries filled with rich cream and a local favourite, trdelník - it's basically a baked cinnamon pastry! Oh, the deliciousness! It was absolutely heavenly, particularly with a touch of melted butter and sugar - sheer perfection, I say! My taste buds are positively delighted!

Speaking of delicious delights, did I mention I visited the famed Municipal House, an architectural masterpiece with ornate mosaics, stunning murals, and beautiful interiors? I spent hours gazing upon the detail. Oh darling, and the champagne at the Café Française there was out of this world!

The beauty of Prague just doesn’t stop, darling. In fact, it goes on for days! This evening I’m headed out for a show, which is apparently the traditional folk singing and dancing experience, complete with local folk music, and costumes! I can't wait to see this unique and energetic form of expression! Who knows, maybe I’ll even learn a move or two to show you later! (You know I’m always keen to incorporate new things into my choreography!)

Until next week, darlings! Remember, stay fashionable, stay pink, and don't forget to dream!

With all my love and a big pink twirl,

Emma xxx
