Prague, my love! Pink Tutu adventures in the City of a Hundred Spires (Blog post #43)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad guide to all things lovely, and today I'm bringing you right back to the heart of Europe – Prague! I'm positively buzzing about this city, a place where the cobbled streets whisper stories of emperors and kings, and every building boasts a tale as grand as the towering spires that pierce the sky. This week I've been swirling through history, hopping from one charming corner to the next in my trusty pink tutu.

As usual, I’m funding my fabulous journey by performing. This week I've been gracing the stage with my ballet. You see, my darling readers, a ballerina's life is about so much more than just graceful twirls and arabesques! It's about exploring the world, embracing new cultures, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Prague, I must tell you, has captivated my heart. Every turn reveals another beautiful facade, adorned with pastel colours that set my inner ballerina swirling. I've spent the past few days exploring this enchanting city, a place that feels like a scene out of a fairytale. Imagine it, my dears: charming cafes with little pastel-painted tables where you can sip cappuccino under the watchful gaze of the iconic Astronomical Clock. Or wander down narrow cobbled alleyways adorned with fairy lights, leading you to secret courtyards bursting with flowers.

My mission? To infuse this enchanting city with a touch of pink-tutu magic. My dearest readers, you know my dream is to make the world a pink tutu haven! And what better place to spread the joy than this dreamy destination?

A Touch of History:

First on my list was exploring the historic centre, which is like stepping back in time. You can literally feel the weight of history seeping through the cobblestone streets, the scent of cinnamon and sugar in the air from the cafes. I'm smitten with the gothic architecture, and of course, the magical astronomical clock.

Speaking of time, dear readers, let's step back to 21st February 1996. On this day in history, a small, but mighty, ballet troupe made their debut at the Estates Theatre. We were lucky to snag tickets. I, naturally, chose my blush pink tutu and feathered bodice. We watched a performance that transported me to another realm.

Pink-tutu Paradise:

As always, I've made sure to fuel my ballerina soul with ballet, of course. You won’t be surprised to learn that the ballet scene in Prague is as beautiful and refined as the city itself. I stumbled upon the Stavovské Divadlo which dates back to the 18th Century, and found myself entranced by the opulent decor. Imagine, chandeliers glittering above a velvety stage with rich red velvet seats! And as I twirled through the lobby, I found myself swooning over the exquisite murals and delicate frescoes.

But ballet isn't just about grand theaters. In the afternoon sunshine, I made a trip to one of Prague's oldest bridges, the Charles Bridge, a magnificent stone structure adorned with a host of statues, that is just begging to be explored by a ballerina. This was the perfect spot to indulge in my own "street ballet," as I twirled and twirled across the cobblestones while gazing at the sweeping panorama of the city, in my favourite blush pink tulle tutu. And let's not forget about the magical atmosphere on this iconic bridge. The charming artists displaying their works, the street musicians filling the air with sweet melodies.

Shopping Splendour:

Of course, no trip to a glamorous city would be complete without a dash of shopping. This is where I really live my pink-tutu life! Think silk scarves, lace gloves, sparkling necklaces, and the most exquisite hats. The markets here are a treat! From handmade jewellery crafted by local artists, to leather goods in a spectrum of colours and the most tempting delicacies you'll ever find. My dearest readers, it's an absolute treasure trove for a pink-tutu girl like me.

My Favourite Spot:

I must tell you about a little gem I discovered tucked away on a charming, cobblestone street. This delightful spot is called the Café Imperial, with its antique interiors and grand piano – you practically hear a waltz in the air. It is utterly exquisite, and it truly transported me back to another era. I couldn’t resist a slice of their divine cherry cake with a generous amount of cream, of course.

Onwards, to more pink tutu adventures!

And my dear readers, this is just a taste of what this magical city holds. I can't wait to share more adventures from Prague in the coming weeks! From venturing into hidden alleyways to discovering hidden gems in the city's historic districts, to indulging in all things fashionable and fairytale.

Until then, remember: the world is waiting for you, darlings! Put on your pink tutu, embrace the sparkle, and get ready to dance your heart out. Remember to keep the spirit of ballet alive!

Love,
Emma xxx
