Prague in Pink: Tutu-ing Through the City of a Hundred Spires! (Blog Post #94)

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to the Pink Tutu! This week I'm writing to you from the heart of Prague, a city thatā€™s absolutely bursting with romance and history, with cobblestone streets that whisper of forgotten emperors and hidden courtyards overflowing with fragrant blooms. It's no surprise they call this city the ā€œCity of a Hundred Spires,ā€ every single one reaching for the heavens like a ballerina on pointe!

For this trip, I've packed my favourite pink tutu, the one with the fluffy tulle, perfect for twirling on the Charles Bridge (with careful consideration for the safety of my fellow tourists, of course!). I've paired it with a classic white blouse and a vintage pink shawl for an elegant and whimsical look thatā€™s quintessentially me. Oh, and my pink Mary Janes, because a girl can never have too many pink accessories, wouldn't you agree?

Travel by Train and Pony:

My journey began on the train, a delightful carriage ride that whisked me away from Derbyshire, through charming English villages and onto the continent. For a bit of a whimsical detour, I even stopped in Vienna, hiring a pony to gallop through the sprawling green meadows ā€“ a bit of countryside magic before hitting the urban landscape of Prague! It truly felt like a scene from one of my favourite classic ballets.

A Day at the Theatre:

Tonight's the highlight, my loves: the Prague Ballet! It's an honour to experience this legendary company. Iā€™ve heard rumours about the breathtaking costumes and innovative choreography. I canā€™t wait to witness the grace and athleticism of these talented dancers firsthand.

But before I indulge in the magic of the performance, Iā€™ll indulge in the charm of the city itself!

Tutu Time in Prague:

You wouldnā€™t believe the stunning boutiques I found! It's a wonderland of fabrics and laces, vintage dresses and hats, all in the most vibrant shades of pink, blush, and lavender. I've been busy picking up a few trinkets to add to my Pink Tutu collection, a tiny pink velvet bag perfect for carrying my ballet shoes and a gorgeous vintage hat adorned with pink feathers, ideal for my post-performance drinks. I even managed to find the most exquisite antique ballet shoes, perfectly preserved in a delicate glass case, reminiscent of an elegant ballerina frozen in time.

A Historical Rendezvous with Tutus:

Did you know that Prague has a long and rich ballet history, reaching back to the 17th century? Just like today, it has always been a city that cherishes the art form, the swirling beauty, and the storytelling magic of ballet. They even have a captivating museum showcasing the evolution of the tutu! I can't wait to see the intricate designs, the evolution of style, the fascinating way this iconic garment has been interpreted and reimagined across centuries.

Iā€™ll be sharing more about the museum and my experience at the ballet show next week!

Pink Tutu on the Prague streets:

It seems Iā€™ve sparked a trend in Prague! Everytime I walk through the charming Old Town square, with its baroque architecture and intricate clock tower, a curious thing happens. Little girls giggle and point at my tutu, asking to try it on! I always happily oblige, giggling with them as they twirl and pretend to be ballerinas.

You see, my mission is not just to dance and enjoy ballet myself but to spread the love of tutus everywhere I go! Iā€™ve found that even in this ancient city, a bit of playful pink can make everyone feel a little lighter and more joyful. I mean, why wear something ordinary when you can wear a tutu? After all, a pink tutu is more than just an item of clothing; itā€™s a symbol of confidence, creativity, and sheer joy!

I encourage you to embrace your inner ballerina and add a little twirl to your day. Even if itā€™s just twirling around your own kitchen, believe me, itā€™s sure to lift your spirits!

Don't forget to follow along on my Instagram (its Pink Tutu all the way through) as I document my Prague adventures. Itā€™s always a good time to spread some pink love and share the joy of ballet with the world!

Iā€™ll leave you now, my dears, as I get ready for the grand spectacle. I can't wait to share all the glittering magic of Pragueā€™s ballet world with you next week.

Until then, happy twirling!

Yours in pink,

Emma
