Prague Dreams: Pink Tutu's Festive Frolic in the City of a Hundred Spires (Blog Post #139)

Hello my darlings, and welcome to another edition of Pink Tutu Travels, this week, coming to you live from the utterly charming and fairytale-esque city of Prague! Now, if you're anything like me, you simply cannot resist the allure of a Christmas market, especially when it's wrapped up in a city as historically magical as this one. Think twinkling fairy lights strung across ancient buildings, the scent of roasted chestnuts and hot spiced wine in the air, and the sound of carols echoing off cobblestones... It's pure holiday bliss, and frankly, my little pink tutu could barely contain its excitement!

This trip's a special one because, my dears, I'm in Prague for Christmas Eve! And if you've never experienced Christmas in Prague, let me tell you, it's something straight out of a storybook. Every corner of the city seems to be alive with festivities, and there's such a joyful, welcoming spirit in the air - a feeling that truly captures the spirit of the holidays.

I, of course, have a schedule packed full of exciting activities, which Iā€™ll detail in all their fabulous glory for you now!

Day 1: Train Travels and Festive Finds

My journey started in good old Derbyshire, where I hopped on a train to Prague. I always find the train journey a perfect chance to admire the scenery ā€“ especially when travelling through countries with such stunning landscapes. My comfy carriage was a haven of book-reading and travel dreams, and I spent the journey planning my outfits, envisioning a perfect pink tutu wardrobe for my time in Prague.

When I arrived at Prague's central station, a wave of Christmas cheer washed over me! Christmas lights glittered on every street corner, and festive music played from every shop, filling the air with joyful melody. I grabbed my trusty suitcase (complete with a dedicated section for tutus, naturally) and set off to explore the charming Old Town Square.

The moment I stepped onto the square, I felt a magic wash over me! Imagine: a towering Christmas tree shimmering with twinkling lights, beautiful, hand-crafted wooden stalls brimming with artisan crafts, and the aroma of hot spiced wine and roasted chestnuts filling the air. The air was crisp, the sky a brilliant blue, and the spirit of Christmas truly palpable. This is what dreams are made of!

But first, before indulging in the delicious aromas and colourful displays, I had to check in to my hotel! My accommodations, Iā€™m happy to say, were utterly adorable. Situated in a historical building, my room had high ceilings and an ornate fireplace. But most importantly? They had a generous closet where I could display my travelling tutu collection to its full, fluffy, pink glory!

Fashion First!

After settling into my fabulous temporary home, I couldn't wait to hit Prague's bustling shops! My mission? To find the perfect Christmas-themed outfit, something truly sparkly and celebratory for my Pink Tutu Christmas Eve in Prague. Luckily, I stumbled upon a divine little boutique filled with sparkly festive frocks and chic accessories - it was like stepping into a wonderland! My pink tutu collection certainly needed a Christmasy update!

The shop owner, a delightful woman with an eye for colour as flamboyant as mine, pointed me towards the perfect outfit. It was a shimmering red dress, sparkling like a million tiny stars. The skirt had a soft, delicate layering, perfect for swirling with graceful pink tutu twirls, and a neckline that hugged my frame beautifully. It was just the perfect way to celebrate the holidays, wouldn't you agree?

After securing my perfect outfit, my Christmas spirit was truly brimming over. Now, all I needed was a bit of something for my hair... Well, of course, that meant a trip to a nearby beauty shop, for a little Christmas sparkle. A touch of glittery hairspray, and the pink tutu was ready for the Prague night.

Day 2: Exploring Prague and its Magical Charm

The next morning, with a heart full of festive cheer and a belly full of the best cinnamon pastries Iā€™ve ever tasted, I decided to explore the historical treasures of Prague. I was eager to find those magical Christmas markets Iā€™d read about. It's impossible to walk more than a few streets before bumping into another delightful market ā€“ brimming with all manner of local crafts and treats. There are beautifully crafted wooden toys for children, hand-painted ornaments for the tree, intricately decorated glass baubles ā€“ you name it, itā€™s here!

A Ballerina's Tale of Christmas Past

But one of my favourite parts of the cityā€™s Christmas magic was the old-world charm that was all around me. I especially adored Prague Castle. I imagined, for a moment, that I was a royal ballerina in the grand court of the castle, performing graceful dances for the King and Queen. (Pink Tutu definitely could have brought a bit of fashion-forward fun to those historical court dances!)

As I meandered through the narrow, cobblestone streets of the Old Town, my senses were overwhelmed with all the sights, sounds, and aromas of the season! From the stunning architecture of Pragueā€™s historic churches to the cosy, crackling fires inside cafes serving delicious gingerbread cookies, it was like walking through a Christmas carol come to life.

My walk eventually led me back to Old Town Square, where I sat down on one of the benches facing the massive Christmas tree. Watching families happily sip hot cocoa, kids giggling with delight at the sight of the twinkling lights, and the sound of Christmas carols filling the air... it was pure magic. And all while wearing my darling little pink tutu. You'd never catch this Pink Tutu blogger out of her fabulous attire, not even during the holiday season!

A Festive Ballet Performance

Whatā€™s a ballet dancer doing in Prague on Christmas Eve? Of course, attending a fabulous Christmas performance! Luckily for me, Prague is brimming with brilliant performance spaces and theatre. I knew that this time of year would bring an exciting festive offering, and I was delighted to find an enchanting production called, ā€œA Christmas Carol ā€“ The Balletā€ at the Prague National Theatre.

The theatre was beautiful, with grand velvet curtains and elaborate gold detailing ā€“ absolutely picture perfect for a pink tutu moment! But the most magical moment? It came at the end of the show when the stage burst into a snowy blizzard scene! The ballerina, wearing the most delicate and enchanting snow-white tutu (she really captured the magic of snow for the festive stage) had everyone breathless.

Seeing this amazing performance, watching her grace and elegance dance in front of such a thrilled audienceā€¦itā€™s a constant reminder of why I wear the pink tutu: Itā€™s not just a fashion statement. It's an invitation to express the joy of movement and beauty! And even if you havenā€™t mastered the art of a pirouette, a touch of pink tulle and a splash of pink lipstick always make the most amazing holiday fashion statement, my dears.

Day 3: A Farewell to Pragueā€¦for now!

Itā€™s never easy leaving a magical place like Prague, and I found myself nostalgically admiring the city views from my train window, with a heart filled with joy. But as the pink tutu dreams fade, I already know I'll be back in Prague! I can practically see the glittering lights of a festive Christmas market, smell the delicious roasted chestnuts, and hear the music of carols echoing through the cobblestone streets... Prague, my dear, I will be back!

Stay tuned next week for my latest blog post where I reveal my latest fashion obsession and all the wonderful new colours and trends Iā€™ve been exploring this season. Don't forget, you can follow my pink tutu adventures on the Pink Tutu Blog, or follow me on Instagram at PinkTutu. Until then, keep twirling and be kind, and, as always, remember to sprinkle your world with a bit of pink. And perhaps, just perhaps, consider adding a little bit of pink tutu magic into your life too. It's not too late to start a fashion revolution, one pink tutu at a time!

Lots of love,

Emma
