Pink Tutu Prague - Post #164: Whirlwind Wednesdays & Ballerina Boutique Bliss

Bonjour, chérie! It’s Wednesday again, which means another exciting installment of my Pink Tutu Prague adventures is here! And what a week it’s been, filled with Parisian dreams and Viennese waltzes (don’t ask!), but today we’re back in Prague, soaking up the magic of this beautiful city. I must admit, it's hard not to feel a little giddy as I sit here typing this, especially after last night’s show! More about that later, though, I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise… 😉

For those who are new to my little corner of the internet, welcome! This is my Pink Tutu Prague blog, a weekly diary of a pink-tutu-clad ballerina on a mission to spread joy and twirls across the globe! (I'm also working on a Pink Tutu: Adventures in Colour book - more on that another time!)

Today, we'll be dipping into the depths of Prague's fashion scene, exploring a new boutique I’ve just discovered and, of course, celebrating the most important of things: ballet! Because, honestly, what better way to start a Wednesday than with a little pirouette and a lot of pink?

Prague: A City Dressed in Enchantment

Since my arrival in Prague a couple of weeks ago, I’ve fallen head over heels for the city’s captivating charm. It's like stepping into a storybook - narrow, cobbled streets, grand buildings that whisper tales of bygone eras, and an atmosphere of magic hanging in the air like the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon pastries (oh, how I love the smell of Prague's bakeries!). And let's not forget about the enchanting castles that dot the cityscape! Every corner you turn in Prague offers a new and exquisite view, like a watercolour painting come to life.

Travel with Grace (and a Touch of Pink)

Speaking of magic, let's talk about getting to Prague. This time I decided to take the train, my preferred method of travel, truly embodying the elegance and freedom of a ballerina (I think this journey deserves a post in itself - Prague by train, a truly Pink Tutu experience, for sure!). And while I'm on the topic of travel, I am working on the most beautiful bespoke travel itinerary, think pink-tutu elegance and comfort, with exclusive ballet shows and Pink Tutu Boutique pop-ups thrown in. The world is my stage and my train, pony or (perhaps in the future, pink hot air balloon) are my transport! More on all of this in due time…

Whirlwind Wednesdays and Ballerina Bliss

Last Wednesday, my friends, I stumbled upon a beautiful ballet boutique tucked away in the heart of the Old Town. Its name is "Le Papillon" and, oh my, is it a treasure trove for a ballerina like me. You can imagine my joy! Every nook and cranny was overflowing with the most delightful ballet-inspired designs - think flowing tutus in every shade imaginable, beautiful shoes, and shimmering accessories that would make a prima ballerina swoon!

My fellow Pink Tutu aficionados, prepare yourselves - my post next week will be a dedicated blog post showcasing my shopping trip - trust me, you will want to come to Prague.

A Ballet Ballet Affair: Celebrating the 17th June, 1998

But back to the show that stole my heart - the highlight of my week, a truly spectacular performance at the Národní Divadlo (National Theatre) last night, Wednesday, 17 June, 1998. You can imagine the exquisite pink tutu I donned for the occasion (I think it might have even outshone the performers on stage!), twirling with the magic of the night in the majestic grand hall. It was "Giselle" by the National Theatre ballet company, a truly beautiful, graceful and emotive production. If ever you need a perfect reminder of what the ballet is all about, I highly recommend this performance - there is a true feeling of tradition in the theatre that brings tears to the eyes (I may have cried, don’t tell anyone!).

*And now for something totally unrelated … but oh so Pink Tutu: Pony Power! *

You wouldn’t think a pony would have a place on my ballet-centric blog but my darling, if you think like me you realise that all beauty, style and grace is connected and our little four-legged friends are right up there with pink, tutus, ballerinas, theatre and a sprinkle of magic - wouldn’t you agree?

When I’m not busy with the balletic, I love a good gallop across the Derbyshire hills - my home where I trained for the London Royal Ballet Academy (until the call of the world beckoned!) As I was riding along my pony path last week (on the English hillside far, far away) and, by golly, a tiny, bright pink feather (the same shade of my Tutu, of course) wafted down and landed softly on my ponytail, it was like the universe was sending me a pink tutu message to travel further afield… I knew that moment, deep down, Prague was my next dance!

**What a Life… and a Life Well-Lived…

So, that was my whirlwind Wednesday, chérie! I know, I know, so much is going on in the Pink Tutu World, and this is just a glimpse. But don’t worry, there's so much more to share, all in due time, with an endless number of pink-tutu adventures to come!

Oh! One more thing, dear readers! Please tell me in the comments if you are enjoying this little slice of Pink Tutu paradise and if there is anything you'd like to hear more about. Perhaps a story about my tutu-making adventures, the history of ballet costumes or a pink fashion trend - tell me, I love to listen!

Don't forget to pop over to my website, www.pink-tutu.com to see all the pictures and stay up to date with my pink tutu journey, I post a new entry each week! And don't forget to follow me on Instagram for behind-the-scenes snapshots!

Until next time, keep twirling, my dears, keep twirling!

Lots of love,

Emma 💕

**(P.S. Please let me know your favorite ballet costume and which shows you’d love to see me perform!)
