Post 163: Prague: A Fairytale in Pink! 💖🩰

Hello my lovely tutu-twirling darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink-Tutu Prague adventure, straight from my favourite Parisian-style cafe, with a divine cuppa and the most beautiful pink cake. I just had to get the perfect sugar rush before I share all about this extraordinary city and its incredible ballet scene!

As you know, I’ve been so lucky to be travelling around Europe, funded by my ballet performances. You really wouldn’t believe the wonderful opportunities this has brought. Imagine - touring breathtaking cities, enjoying amazing performances, and exploring a new world of fashion. Pure magic, wouldn’t you say? And my life is just a big fairytale in pink, filled with ballet and travel, with a sprinkle of glitter, of course!

Now, let’s talk about Prague! My oh my, where do I even start?! The architecture here is simply breathtaking. Imagine fairytale castles perched on hilltops, bridges shimmering over a gentle river, and cobbled streets winding through enchanting alleyways. Every corner reveals a new, dazzling detail, from whimsical gargoyles to golden clock towers. It’s like stepping into a storybook, and with this exquisite backdrop, the magic truly does come alive.

I arrived yesterday by train, my journey through the beautiful countryside a real treat for the senses. As usual, my signature pink tutu made a statement, adding a dash of colour and joy to every carriage. And let me tell you, it attracted plenty of curious glances, making the trip a wonderfully memorable experience. 😉

Once in Prague, I naturally made my way to the centre of it all – Old Town Square. It was an absolute delight! Everywhere you look, you’ll find vibrant markets bursting with traditional crafts, delicious food stalls (the local sausages are a must-try!), and beautiful street performers. Even the buskers wear their best attire and some had pink tutus, though I admit mine was far more sparkly. There’s a real passion for art and beauty in Prague, which I love.

Of course, a ballet-obsessed blogger like me can’t go to a city like Prague without a proper dose of ballet! I did my research, and discovered the Pink Tutu treasure trove – the National Theatre, a majestic building overlooking the Vltava river. It's the epitome of elegance, its neo-Renaissance architecture simply stunning. You can see that so much care and love went into crafting its grandeur and, like myself, it loves pink! You see, in Prague, a pink tutu feels totally at home, because it fits perfectly within their own culture and exquisite traditions.

And what a performance it was! The repertoire is simply astounding - classical masterpieces to modern creations, with every show brimming with grace, talent and passion. Tonight, 10th of June 1998, was a magical treat, I saw Swan Lake with a stunning ballerina, wearing a most splendid pink tutu. I must say, even with a slight case of tutu envy, I can’t help but admire her graceful artistry and beautiful portrayal of this classic story. I can’t wait to join a local ballet class tomorrow, get into a pink tutu, and learn some of these amazing moves!

One thing I absolutely adore about Prague is the incredible shopping scene! You can find a veritable treasure trove of vintage boutiques and charming independent shops nestled in every corner of the city. I fell in love with a charming antique shop filled with elegant gowns, tiaras, and dainty hats. I could have stayed there all day, imagining myself as a glamorous ballerina in a vintage production. Of course, a few charming accessories found their way back home with me… Including, you guessed it, a delightful vintage pink tutu. 😉

And the fashion scene is equally as captivating! Prague seems to have its own unique style - blending classic elegance with a bohemian flair, all while maintaining that distinct Parisian chic vibe. The local ladies wear flowing dresses, stunning hats, and dainty gloves, with the perfect finishing touches – like sparkly handbags and colourful scarves. And let’s not forget the men, they know how to put together a dapper look!

My week here is packed with more ballet, of course! And lots of time to explore the captivating atmosphere and the cobblestone streets that beckon with their tales of kings and queens. Prague is a truly romantic city, it whispers stories from its very soul, and I’m ready to listen and immerse myself in every bit of it!

But before I close this Pink Tutu blog, I can’t help but share a few words about the most special detail of all – the friendly spirit that radiates from Prague. It’s in the warm smiles and genuine kindness of the local people, in the inviting cafes with their cozy atmosphere, and in the twinkle in everyone’s eye as they share a simple conversation. It’s like stepping back in time, but with a vibrant energy that makes this city sing.

Well, darlings, my tutu's got some twirling to do! I can’t wait to tell you about more exciting adventures and fabulous finds. Stay tuned for more updates on www.pink-tutu.com next Wednesday, right here!

Until then, remember to wear pink!

Love,
Emma xx

P.S. Don’t forget, I am obsessed with vintage tutus and will gladly take recommendations of antique stores! Do you know any amazing stores in Prague? Let me know! Let's all celebrate our passion for pink tutus! 😉
