Prague Dreams in Pink: A Ballerina's Guide to the City of a Hundred Spires (Post #169)

Hello my lovelies! It's Wednesday, and that means another magical instalment of my Pink Tutu Prague blog is ready for your delightful perusal! This week, I'm waltzing through the charming cobbled streets of Prague, a city that feels like it's straight out of a fairytale. Imagine a place overflowing with stunning architecture, romantic bridges, and charming cafes – all in a stunningly vibrant shade of pink (it’s a bit of a theme, you see!). Oh, and don’t forget the amazing ballet scene, it's truly top-notch, darling.

Now, as a proper Derbyshire lass, you know I wouldn’t dare travel to this beautiful city without a suitable travel outfit. My go-to look for exploring? A stunning pink, ruffled, knee-length tutu, naturally! Paired with a delicate lace top (perfectly showcasing my figure), and my trusty pink ballet flats, I'm a vision of loveliness and whimsy, ready to enchant the city! Let's face it, my pink tutu is a statement piece. It says, “Here I am, I’m going to have fun, and everyone else should too!” And trust me, everyone in Prague is happy to oblige. They just can't get enough of the pink tutu! (I am tempted to do a little impromptu pirouette in the middle of Old Town Square just to watch their faces light up, but maybe that's pushing it.)

And talking of dancing, how excited am I to tell you that tonight is a night dedicated to the divine art of ballet! I’ve snagged tickets for the breathtaking performance at the National Theatre. I can barely contain my excitement! The National Theatre here in Prague is quite the sight, darling! You’d think a building like that could only be designed for ballerinas (especially with the pink glow it seems to give off in the evenings – seriously, the architecture is truly stunning!)

Of course, any good ballerina, and especially a tutu-wearing, Prague-loving one, needs to prepare properly for a big night out. I'll start with a ballet class this morning at one of the charming local studios (that reminds me – need to share pictures on Insta later! I think you’ll adore my little ballet buddy who joined me for a lesson!) Then, it’s back to the hotel for a hot bath and some pampering before a scrumptious, yet healthy, meal (a ballerina can’t skip on the carbs!). I've got my perfect ballerina outfit planned – a black lace dress with a little pink feather boa (for extra drama, obviously) and the most glamorous pair of ruby slippers.

Later, as I sashay into the theatre, I know the room will light up. You can’t imagine the effect a pink tutu has on a crowded theatre! Everyone is simply mesmerised. It's almost like they can’t believe that such beauty exists. I even caught one little girl – her eyes bright with wonder, clutching her mother’s hand, who shyly asked if she could touch it! It's all about sharing the magic of the tutu with the world, darling!

Speaking of magic, Prague is an enchanting city full of stories just waiting to be discovered. Before I set out on my exploration this morning, I treated myself to the most fabulous brunch. Let’s just say a pile of pink-hued strawberries with cream, a delicate almond croissant and the best coffee I've had in a while set the stage for an exciting day of sightseeing. I spent the morning wandering through the charming old town with my little guidebook, a map and, of course, my tutu – I even popped into a little vintage shop, “The Pink Teapot,” for a little indulgence in a vintage tutu.

The owner was a delightful lady, overflowing with the spirit of Prague's magical charm and she has promised to show me some secret vintage treasures next week when she's opened a hidden little boutique she's working on. (A true ballerina is never short of good friends! I’m pretty sure I might even wear a pink wig!)

Speaking of tutus – the history of tutus is such a beautiful and intriguing thing, darling! Did you know they originated in the 19th century with the arrival of ballet romantisme, with its flowing and delicate steps and emphasis on lighter, airy styles? The early tutus were much longer, creating the illusion of swirling, ethereal movement, but throughout the years, the silhouette evolved. I’m so in awe of these pioneers in the history of tutus! And just to be a bit more extravagant, how could I resist a trip to the Ballet Museum? Just a small, quirky little museum with fascinating artefacts of the past – I am a bit of a history buff, after all!

Now, the sun is sinking behind the magnificent Prague skyline, and the city lights are slowly twirling to life – everything here is so breathtakingly picturesque, it’s enough to give you a few twirls on the spot! There's a certain je ne sais quoi about Prague that I just can’t resist, a special, whimsical feel that seems to seep into your soul and make you want to spin and leap in the most joyful way! I have even been trying my best to embrace the local charm with a newfound fondness for the classic Czech dumpling! Oh, but just imagine that served with pink gravy… maybe I’ll just leave that one to my fellow Prague residents!

Don’t forget, lovelies, to follow my adventures on PinkTutu.com – I'm uploading photos throughout the week! I also love hearing your comments. Tell me – are you as excited for my upcoming ballet night as I am?

Until next week, Emma x x x

P.S I'm currently researching different types of tutus! Stay tuned for the definitive tutu guide, coming soon to a Pink Tutu blog near you!
