Prague, My Darling, Prague! 🩰🌸💖 (Post #180)

Hello darlings, and welcome to another fabulous Wednesday from your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger, Emma! This week I'm bringing you all the glamour and romance of Prague, a city that's captured my heart as much as its magnificent architecture has.

My journey here, of course, involved a bit of magic: a whirlwind of ballet performances in Derbyshire, my beloved hometown, followed by a rather dashing ride on a sleek train – yes, the European ones are much more chic! - which whisked me through countryside so lovely it looked like a painting. The fresh air and sunshine were simply delightful, leaving me feeling completely energised and ready for Prague's magic.

Speaking of magic, have you seen the tutu scene here? Oh my goodness, I’m practically overwhelmed! Forget your little black dresses and pencil skirts, my dears, Prague's streets are awash with delicate layers of tulle! And the best part is that even if you don’t fancy yourself as a ballerina, it’s just so much fun to embrace the whimsy. Imagine, a vintage pink tutu, swirling with every step you take, reflecting the dazzling beauty of Prague’s bridges and cobbled streets. This, my friends, is how you truly explore the city with a flourish!

Now, where do I even begin? This city is simply bursting with enchantment! Every corner is like stepping into a fairytale, the cobblestones whisper stories of a bygone era, and the buildings… well, let's just say they’re the epitome of graceful architecture! The old town, the Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock... everything here screams romantic charm and old-world grandeur.

Speaking of the Astronomical Clock, did you know that Prague has one of the oldest astronomical clocks in the world? You simply have to go there and watch the little figures come to life – I think even a little bit of that Czech magic must have rubbed off on me! And oh, the shopping here! A cornucopia of quirky shops and hidden treasures awaits! I just know my vintage tutu collection will be complete after this trip – so many little treasures, perfect for a bit of whimsy.

But let's not forget what really drew me to this captivating city: ballet! And oh, my darlings, did Prague deliver!

Today, October 7th, 1998, I was completely enthralled by the "Pink Tutu Prague" ballet performance at the National Theatre. The theatre itself, a magnificent neo-Renaissance building, practically whispered history and culture. The dancers, graceful and nimble, danced like clouds against the rich tapestry of the stage. It was a mesmerising spectacle, a symphony of movement and emotion! I found myself transported to another world, and my little pink heart skipped a beat with every twirl and pirouette.

You know how much I love ballet, but you won't believe the little detail that truly made this performance truly spectacular - a symphony of colours, oh darling! Each dancer was costumed in a different shade of pink! From soft blush to vivid fuchsia, a rainbow of pinks swirled across the stage. This symphony of delicate shades added a layer of wonder and sophistication to the show. Even the orchestra, decked out in their most charmingly pink bowties, couldn't resist joining the pink revolution!

This was no ordinary performance – this was an explosion of graceful artistry, exquisite elegance, and undeniable passion, perfectly punctuated by a stunning ensemble of pinks. I think the "Pink Tutu Prague" ballet has completely stolen my heart. This city really does know how to impress.

So, what is on in Prague for October 7th 1998, beyond ballet?

If you are ever lucky enough to find yourself in Prague, and let’s be honest, this should be a top spot on everyone’s travel bucket list, make sure to check out these fabulous things:

  • The Prague Castle: This majestic castle complex is a sight to behold. I recommend wandering through its grand halls, strolling through its peaceful gardens, and gazing out over the stunning cityscape.
  • The Old Town Square: This lively square is at the heart of the city, home to the iconic Astronomical Clock. And don't forget to try one of those mouth-watering Czech sausages! Just don’t be put off by the unusual smell – those flavours, they really do sing in your mouth!
  • Charles Bridge: A bridge fit for royalty, you just have to take a romantic stroll across the Charles Bridge to truly grasp the grandeur of this city. Imagine yourself a princess, skipping over the ancient stones with your favourite knight in shining armour! Oh, and keep an eye out for street performers! They’re simply marvellous!
  • The Jewish Quarter: Explore this fascinating area rich in history, culture, and heartbreak. From museums to synagogues, the Jewish Quarter is truly an insightful and moving journey.

Speaking of insightful journeys, darling, I find myself pondering tutus today! Did you know that Prague, although full of artistic charm, is actually home to some fantastic vintage clothing stores?
