Pink Tutu Prague - Blog Post #184

Wednesday 4th November 1998

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, Emma, bringing you the latest from the charming cobbled streets of Prague. This week's blog is all about my love for ballet, of course, and exploring this city's cultural gems!

Prague, Oh Prague

I arrived here in style, naturally, by train. The journey from Derbyshire was a delight! As always, I had my favourite pink tulle travelling tutu on, and let me tell you, it was a real conversation starter on the train. The other passengers seemed so captivated by my whimsical ensemble. It's my mission, you know, to get everyone wearing a pink tutu - one fabulous outfit at a time!

And then, there was Prague! From the moment I stepped off the train, the city was bursting with beauty. Imagine winding cobbled streets, ancient architecture, charming cafes overflowing with chatter and laughter, and stunning bridges that simply beg to be strolled across. Oh, it's positively delightful!

A Tutu-tastic Trip To The Ballet

Today's adventure took me to the magnificent National Theatre. It's a true architectural masterpiece, a testament to Prague's rich history. This evening's show was a treat for the eyes – a mesmerising rendition of "The Nutcracker". Watching the ballerinas glide across the stage, their tutus swirling, the music a captivating symphony of sound – it was truly a magical experience! I must admit, a little bit of me wished I could step right into the stage, my pink tutu a shimmering beacon amongst the snowflakes. But alas, for now, my tutu will have to remain a purely off-stage, spectator-style affair!

The Inspiration Behind My Tutu-love

After the show, I strolled through the bustling Old Town Square. You could see it in everyone’s eyes, the spark of inspiration. Prague is just like that - it stirs your imagination and makes you believe anything is possible. I find it so fitting that the Czech Republic is known for its exquisite glass-making. You know, glass can be so delicate and beautiful yet simultaneously sturdy. It's almost like a tutu! I simply love the delicate beauty of tulle. It feels so feminine and graceful, and it adds a touch of whimsy to everything it graces.

The Dance of History

Speaking of beauty, my quest for the perfect pink tutu has led me to a most curious discovery: a hidden treasure, a museum dedicated to the history of ballet and dance costumes. And guess what they had on display? The most divine collection of antique tutus! I practically had to pinch myself to believe I was surrounded by these ethereal, once-upon-a-time creations. Each stitch a story waiting to be told.

It was truly humbling to see the evolution of the tutu – from the humble, yet elegant, 17th-century styles to the romantic flourishes of the 19th century and the more modern, often bold, designs we see today. It made me think about how dance itself has evolved over time. The evolution of the tutu reflects the story of dance in a fascinating way.

The Perfect Shopping Spree

My day, of course, would not be complete without some fabulous shopping. It wouldn't be a Prague trip without exploring the quaint, vintage shops lining the charming streets. The hunt for a perfect pink ribbon was exhilarating, and you can believe me, I came home victorious! This little beauty will add a touch of feminine whimsy to my ballet bag for the next ballet performance. You see, it’s about more than just finding a piece of fabric - it’s about the story you tell through your choices. What do you see in your pink tutu, darlings?

From Prague With Love (and Tutu!)

Prague, you've enchanted me with your magical energy and history. Every cobblestone holds a story, every building echoes a song. And just like your historic bridges connecting past and present, the tutu bridges the realms of grace and fantasy.

Remember, darlings, be your own dance inspiration, whether on stage, on the streets, or in your heart. Remember your pink tutu – wear it loud, wear it proud! It's a statement of whimsy, creativity and your unique brand of loveliness!

I'm off to another performance – a symphony of colour and motion. See you next Wednesday with more fabulous pink-tutu adventures, darlings. Until then, stay stylish, and let your own inner ballerina shine!

Yours eternally,

Emma x
