Pink Tutu Prague - Post #188: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Traditions

Hello my lovelies, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh blog post from your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, and this week, Prague has truly stolen my heart.

The city itself is just as charming as I imagined: cobblestone streets, enchanting castles, and a history that sings like an ancient waltz. The only thing missing is a giant pink tutu adorning the Charles Bridge – now that’s a project for the future!

But let's start with the moment I arrived, a perfect blend of fairy tale and practical travel. Imagine, if you will, the romantic click-clack of a train journey from Derbyshire to Prague, the landscapes morphing from emerald green fields to snowy mountain peaks. A picture perfect scene punctuated by me, in a scarlet pink tulle skirt, sipping a steaming cup of tea and reading my tattered copy of "The Nutcracker". I even convinced the gentleman across the aisle, a most charming Czech gentleman with a love for Beethoven, to wear a tiny pink ribbon tied around his hat, and voilĂ ! We had a miniature, pink-tinged ballet in the middle of the train!

Now, arriving in Prague was a dream come true! Just stepping out of the train station, the old town unveiled itself in all its medieval glory. The architecture, like something from a Brothers Grimm tale, immediately filled my head with images of swirling skirts and soaring pirouettes. And the energy – the hustle and bustle of Prague, the friendly locals and the aroma of warm cinnamon and gingerbread – was pure magic.

Speaking of magic, let's dive into the real reason for my trip: Ballet! You know, I'm not just a lover of pink tutus, I'm obsessed with their history. Every feather boa, every single shimmering sequined dress, tells a story. And Prague, my darlings, is brimming with ballet history. Imagine ballet dancers leaping and pirouetteing through centuries in grand opera houses and hidden courtyards!

My heart leaped, nay, did a perfect fouettĂ©, when I found out about the ballet performance on December 2nd. And no, you wouldn’t believe what it was – “The Nutcracker”, of course! This wasn’t just any Nutcracker, however; it was performed by the National Theatre Ballet. With all the original choreography and a captivatingly beautiful set, it truly took me on a journey through the enchanted realm of Christmas. It’s hard to describe the joy, the magic, the wonder! It reminded me, yet again, why I love this world of dance, of the power of graceful movements, and the enduring beauty of ballet history.

After the show, you'd find me, the pink tutu in tow, skipping merrily through the magical Prague streets. This, dear reader, is the life!

Tutus and Tradition in Prague

Of course, any Pink Tutu trip wouldn't be complete without a whirlwind of shopping! This trip, I indulged in my favourite Prague pastime: a shopping spree for unique and beautiful vintage fashion items. My eyes danced through rows upon rows of antique shops overflowing with exquisite jewellery and delicate lace garments, just the kind that would inspire an elegant ballet. And what better way to discover Prague’s cultural gems than by walking the charming streets?

And speaking of cultural gems, the Czech Republic holds a rich ballet history, dating back centuries. From the elegant Royal Court Ballet to the birth of modern Czech choreography, Prague’s cultural landscape is richly interwoven with the world of dance. There's even a gorgeous ballet museum tucked away in Prague's heart – a real treasure trove of history for every ballerina (and ballet enthusiast) to adore!

Speaking of adoration, let’s get back to the pink! I truly believe that there’s something incredibly special about tutus. The floaty layers, the delicate ruffles, the romantic whimsy – it’s pure magic. You’ll be happy to know, Prague's charm is working its magic on everyone! After witnessing the "Nutcracker" and my pink tutu's infectious joy, more and more people in Prague have started to embrace the power of a well-placed tutu!

A Pony Ride to Remember

No trip to Prague is complete without a charming ride through the charming old city. I took a delightful little detour, venturing outside of the city center, and decided to try my hand at a classic Czech experience – a pony ride! Let’s be honest, who needs a carriage when you can ride in style on a miniature horse?! Picture me, gliding through Prague’s quaint, tree-lined lanes on a a beautiful grey pony adorned with a delicate pink ribbon, wearing, naturally, a fabulous pale pink tulle tutu, the picture of pure equestrian ballet grace. I’m sure even the pony appreciated the pink accessory, adding a dash of fairytale to his usual routine!

Every little corner of this city unfolds a new adventure, and let’s just say I have a pretty amazing collection of Prague photos now! You’ll have to wait until my next post for those!

Sharing the Pink Love in Prague

In conclusion, my Pink Tutu Prague adventure has been a symphony of delights – from the fairytale architecture to the charming cafes to the incredible performances and the whimsical pony rides. Every moment of this trip was steeped in the history and beauty of the city, making it a real ballerina's dream!

But, the most fulfilling part of it all? Well, that’s the way everyone's starting to embrace the pink tutu in Prague! I had an unforgettable time in this city, and even found myself encouraging the locals to let their inner ballerinas loose – pink tutus, sequins and all! After all, who needs just a ballerina’s tutu when the entire world can dance with a touch of pink?

Till next Wednesday, stay beautiful, stay pink and don’t forget to twirl!

Much Love,

Emma xoxo
