Prague's Ballet Beauty: Post 1999, Wednesday 17th February, 1999

Bonjour, darlings!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous adventure from your favourite pink-loving, tutu-touting ballerina! This week, we're waltzing through the magical city of Prague, a destination I've been dreaming about for as long as I can remember. You see, Prague has a rather special place in my heart - not only is it bursting with history and romance, but it's also home to the beautiful National Theatre, a treasure trove of ballet magic!

Train Journey Romance

To start our journey, we embarked on a delightful train ride from Derbyshire, a perfect opportunity to whip out my favourite travel companion: my signature pink tutu! I don't know about you darlings, but I find a train journey so incredibly romantic. You get to settle in, watch the countryside fly by, and indulge in a little bit of light reading. (Did I mention I'm reading "The Story of Ballet", a fascinating look into the history of this graceful art form, and it even has a whole chapter dedicated to the history of tutus!) Of course, the main highlight of my journey was the arrival at Prague’s beautiful train station. The architecture was just stunning, and the station was buzzing with anticipation for the adventures to come.

Pink Perfection in Prague

I must confess, my dear readers, I've been saving up a special tutu for this occasion. It's a symphony in pink, with delicate lace detailing, fluffy tulle layers and a sprinkle of sparkly sequins for that extra touch of sparkle! It even has a beautiful, embroidered design inspired by the “Pink Ballerina” porcelain figurine, which I discovered while rummaging through a delightful vintage boutique on a Parisian street, another fabulously romantic city I shall be sharing my experiences from very soon. Oh, and you must check out this stunning new handbag, inspired by a gorgeous red-headed model! I am absolutely in love!

A Ballet Dream

But let’s get back to Prague, shall we? You see, darling, I can’t possibly visit this magnificent city without venturing into the enchanting world of ballet. My schedule was jam-packed this week with ballet bliss! On Thursday evening, we saw a mesmerizing performance of “Giselle" at the National Theatre. The grandeur of the theatre itself was breathtaking. Imagine glittering chandeliers, intricate carvings and rich velvet seats, a true testament to the era of opulence. Oh, the ballet! The choreography, the dancers' grace and precision – truly unforgettable!

Tutus and Travel Tales

After the ballet, I did some lovely shopping, searching for a little “Prague” charm for my charm bracelet – I’ve become quite the collector! And yes, my darling, I did find the perfect one, complete with the stunning Charles Bridge as a centrepiece. But of course, my shopping spree would not be complete without exploring the shops for inspiration for my tutu collection. I'm constantly on the lookout for new fabrics, embellishments, and ideas. It's an endless source of inspiration, like a real-life fairy tale, except with much more sparkle!

A Slice of Prague

On Friday, I savoured a delightful breakfast in a café near our hotel. This little cafe has these gorgeous strawberry tarts, filled with the most exquisite crème fraîche. Honestly, you wouldn't believe how good they were! Of course, I had to get my daily dose of exercise with a delightful ballet class in a nearby studio. There is simply no greater joy than perfecting my pirouettes to the rhythmic sound of classic piano music, even if the studio was slightly smaller than the one in Derbyshire!

A Farewell to Prague

My stay in Prague, my darlings, flew by like a beautiful pirouette! You know how much I love the feeling of a journey ending with a beautiful train journey. Of course, there will be plenty more travels and exciting adventures to come! I simply adore exploring the world and sharing my journeys with you, my dearest readers. Keep your tutus twirling, my sweet friends! And remember, you can join me on this fantastical adventure at www.pink-tutu.com, where I post new travel adventures every Wednesday!

Until next time,

Emma xx
