Prague Dreams: Tutu Adventures in the City of a Hundred Spires - Pink Tutu Blog, Post #202

Wednesday, 10th March, 1999

Oh, darling dears! You wouldn't believe the adventure I'm having in Prague! This is Post #202, a peek into my very own magical journey through the heart of Europe. Buckle up, darlings, as I whisk you away to a city of cobbled streets, enchanting bridges, and castles that rise up to meet the sky like feathered dreams. And, of course, it's all a glorious whirlwind of pink tulle and Parisian chic.

This week, darling readers, I'm venturing into the very soul of Prague – its heart, its rhythm, its history. I arrived this morning, gliding through the cobblestone streets on a carriage drawn by the most magnificent chestnut horse. Imagine, my darling, me, in my cherry blossom pink tulle, and him, a glossy bay, hooves drumming a light, almost silent, waltz across the flagstones! Simply magical.

But my journey really started days ago, tucked into the cozy confines of a plush carriage on the Eurostar. My train journeys are the best, darling. It's a chance to settle into a vintage notebook, sketching designs for my latest ballet-inspired clothing line, which will debut on my website in April! I'm even thinking of adding a new "Prague Dream" collection, infused with the delicate artistry of the city and the grandeur of its history. Oh, it's all swirling in my head!

The moment I stepped onto the platform, a chorus of street performers, their music intertwining in a vibrant symphony of violins and clarinets, welcomed me to Prague. And in the distance, I caught a glimpse of the imposing silhouette of Prague Castle. My breath hitched! I knew then, my dears, that I was in for an adventure like no other.

But first, shopping! Naturally. No journey to Prague is complete without exploring the vintage shops of the Old Town, a veritable treasure trove of delicate laces, luxurious velvets, and antique silk scarves. And, oh darling, how I love the Bohemian fashion sense! A swirl of paisley prints and colourful scarves, the kind that dance on a dancer's neck as they pirouette across the stage.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon the most exquisite antique boutique on the banks of the Vltava River. There, nestled amongst antique lace handkerchiefs and porcelain dolls, I discovered a magnificent, vintage pink tutu! The shade was almost identical to my favourite ballerina pink - it shimmered like the light on the Charles Bridge, delicate and elegant, like the whispers of a long-forgotten dream. I simply had to have it. And now it's tucked away in my travelling trunk, awaiting its next ballet performance.

This evening, my dears, I have the incredible honour of attending a ballet performance at the Prague National Theatre. This iconic building, an embodiment of Bohemian grace, has seen legendary ballets, operas, and dramatic productions since the 1880s. It’s simply stunning, with a neo-Renaissance exterior that makes my heart leap for joy and the perfect place for my tulle to twirl! I've heard it's the performance of "Swan Lake" - I can hardly wait to see the iconic ballerina choreography in such a breathtaking setting.

The air tonight is crisp, like champagne bubbles against your tongue. The sound of music drifts through the cobbled streets, beckoning you into the magic of Prague. I, however, have a date with a story told in dance, the graceful language of a tutu, the unspoken poetry of a plié, and a love for all things ballet. But that's a story for another time, darlings. For now, I'm off to let the magical atmosphere of Prague transport me to a world where ballerinas pirouette with the graceful ease of swan feathers and the world is spun from a delicate tulle dream.

Until next Wednesday, my lovelies!

Yours in pink tulle, Emma x
