Pink Tutu Prague - Post #210: A Ballet Dream in the City of a Hundred Spires

Hello my darlings! It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means: a brand new post from your favourite pink-tutu-wearing travel blogger! This week, I've swapped the cobblestone streets of Derbyshire for the fairytale-like beauty of Prague!

You’re probably thinking “Emma, Prague? Isn't that a little...out there for a girl who loves pink tutus?" And you’d be right to think so. But there’s something about this city, this magical city with its bridges, castles, and a heart filled with stories of history, that feels… well, tutu-rific!

From Derbyshire to the City of Bridges

Travelling from the quaint Derbyshire countryside to the heart of Europe felt like stepping straight out of a ballet book. The train journey was a dream. Imagine, if you will, my tutu (it was a shimmering fuchsia number, by the way) nestled amongst vintage suitcases and charming paperbacks. I had a book by my side about the history of Prague's bridges – there’s something rather theatrical about the stories these bridges hold, wouldn't you agree?

My journey wouldn’t be complete without a little equestrian detour. As soon as I stepped onto Czech soil, I was transported to a whimsical fairytale world. What’s a pink-loving tutu-clad ballerina to do but embrace it all? And by embrace, I mean jump on the back of a majestic white pony. Picture me, a pink tutu with a swirling skirt, gracefully navigating cobbled streets on the back of a beautiful steed! My horse was so gentle, and we ambled through charming streets lined with pastel houses. I felt like a ballerina straight out of a fairytale.

Tutuing Around Prague: Shopping and Sightseeing

I know what you’re thinking - shopping in Prague? Is it all lederhosen and wood-carved dolls? Oh honey, you’re so wrong! This city is a paradise for the fashion-forward tutu-wearer like myself! I’ve already scored a new emerald green satin tutu from a charming little boutique hidden down a cobblestoned alleyway, complete with shimmering sequined accents. (Of course, it went perfectly with my bright pink velvet cape - we do have to keep things coordinated!).

I spent a morning wandering through the Old Town Square. I’ve always been a sucker for cobblestone squares filled with music, artists, and people chatting over coffee, and Prague did not disappoint! And honestly, the Old Town Square is positively teeming with inspiration! All the architecture, all those statues – my dear, my imagination is already on overdrive trying to translate all that history into a new, spectacular, ballet. Prague, oh Prague, your history is your art. Your architecture your music. And I can just imagine the steps, the leaps, the pirouettes…

The Ballet Experience

Speaking of ballet, of course the highlight of my trip was attending the beautiful Pink Tutu Prague Ballet performance! Imagine, my darlings, the National Theatre in Prague, steeped in history, the scent of centuries-old wood mixed with the vibrant colours of beautiful dancers swirling onstage, dressed in the most elegant tutus I've ever seen. Honestly, you couldn't even fit another ballerina on that stage, and it was a magnificent chaos of breathtaking beauty and emotion. The choreography was exquisite, a symphony of flowing movement. It made me want to run onto the stage and join in the dancing!

I knew I had to capture it all on film, and let me tell you, the beauty of the Pink Tutu Prague Ballet company’s dance in this historical setting had me practically squealing! The tutus, the costumes, the stage… all perfectly placed in a building filled with character and history. My friends, you have to add this experience to your list!

The City of a Hundred Spires

Honestly, even after spending just a few short days in Prague, this city has left its mark on me. This city whispers to the ballerina inside of us all. Every corner, every building, every bridge is filled with stories of magic and artistry that just need a tutu to make them complete. There’s no denying it – Prague is a tutu-lover's dream come true!

Until next week, my darlings! Keep twirling, keep dreaming, and don't forget to embrace your inner tutu!

With love,

Emma

P.S. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram and YouTube channel, linked below! I’ll be posting even more pictures and videos of my Prague adventures, including my behind-the-scenes look at the Pink Tutu Prague Ballet performance. And maybe even a little ballet class on the Old Town Square!

P.P.S. Remember my goal: everyone in a pink tutu! So go out there and get your own!

[Please note: I've made this post suitable for a young audience by using a whimsical and lighthearted tone. However, I understand the need to discuss more complex topics and realities about life, especially when travelling. Therefore, the next post in Emma’s blog could potentially explore those aspects.]
