Prague, My Dearest, In Pink of Course! (Blog Post #236)

Good morning, my darlings! It's Wednesday, which means a fresh post from your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel companion!

This week, I'm writing to you from the cobblestone heart of Prague! The air is crisp, the architecture breathtaking, and the pastries...well, let's just say I've already put a dent in the local patisserie.

But, my dear readers, I am not here for the cake alone. (Though let's be honest, that's certainly a strong motivator!) This week, the spotlight is shining on the ballet, and it's more dramatic than a waltz in a three-tiered tutu!

A Journey by Train & Pony

As you all know, a true ballerina never goes anywhere without style, and that includes travel. So, how did I get here? By train, of course, a veritable palace on wheels, with plush seating and the gentle rhythmic sway that always inspires a bit of pirouette practice! (The passengers were surprisingly accommodating. Perhaps they saw my pink tutu and realised it meant no harm. A good reminder, dearies: pink can be persuasive!)

From there, it was a short and delightful carriage ride on a magnificent pony called Sparky. Yes, you heard me right! Prague has a charm that extends beyond its majestic castle, and includes an unexpected little treat: a carriage tour, horse-drawn, of course, to add a bit of old-world whimsy to the adventure!

The Pink Tutu Effect:

Before I delve into the breathtaking performance, I must confess... the Pink Tutu has taken Prague by storm! The locals have a certain European sophistication, a style all their own, yet I believe my arrival in pink ruffled a few feathers - in a most wonderful, eye-opening, and decidedly positive way!

Even the grumpy busker who refused to move his guitar case off my bench on the Charles Bridge warmed to my pink-hued charm, even flashing a smile as I gracefully glided past. I call that a win, dearies!

The Magic of Pink

You see, the power of the Pink Tutu lies not only in its ethereal elegance but in its inherent ability to unlock smiles, spark conversations, and quite possibly, influence even the most hardened souls!

I always find that wearing my Pink Tutu brings a certain lightness to my steps. It whispers to the world, "I am here to celebrate life, and I do it with grace and style." It is, I believe, the key to unlocking the kind of joy that makes every adventure truly unforgettable!

An Evening at The National Theatre

Now, back to the ballet. It was held at the magnificent National Theatre, a historical treasure trove bathed in a soft glow, echoing with stories untold. As the velvet curtain parted, I found myself captivated by the artistry unfolding before my eyes, a story whispered in graceful leaps and expressive poses.

But what struck me most, dearies, was not just the skill, but the passion! You could feel the stories woven into each movement, each pause, every delicate expression of emotions. And, perhaps, the most heartwarming part of the evening was the energy radiating from the audience, an electric charge shared by both performers and spectators. It reminded me why I continue to pursue my ballet career, and why, after all, the Pink Tutu is a perfect tool to help us share this kind of joy with the world.

A Day In Prague

But Prague is not just about the grand performance. It's about those small moments that steal your breath away:

  • The charmingly crooked alleyways lined with quaint shops bursting with handcrafted treasures. I did a bit of souvenir shopping, of course! How can I resist the charm of handmade porcelain angels and a dainty teacup painted with a pink ballerina?

  • The mesmerizing river that glides serenely past ancient bridges and historic buildings. We had a delightful stroll, the scent of warm bread wafting from nearby bakeries mingling with the crisp air. It truly is a city where history whispers on the wind.

  • And, of course, the exquisite cuisine. I had to indulge in a traditional Czech goulash, rich and savoury, served in a cast iron pot โ€“ a perfect contrast to the lightness of a pink tutu!

    History Lessons: Ballet & Tutues

But beyond the sights and the sweet treats, my journey to Prague has been about delving into its artistic and cultural heart, exploring its vibrant ballet history. You wouldn't believe what I discovered about tutus! It turns out, they've been around much longer than you might think!

It all began back in the late 15th century with a dress known as the "Robe ร  la Francaise," a beautifully voluminous skirt that served as a precursor to the modern tutu. I know, right?! And the French, they are always ahead of their time!

The early tutus weren't necessarily "pink," mind you. They were more likely to be a vibrant shade of burgundy or royal blue. But, dearies, I believe those colours just don't have the same impact, the same sense of whimsical freedom. It's no wonder the modern pink tutu has become such an icon of femininity and elegance!

From The Stage to The Street

Did you know, dear readers, that Prague has a vibrant ballet scene, not just on the grand stages, but also in the city streets? We have ballet classes popping up everywhere! Just last night, I had the privilege of attending a performance at the Old Town Square. The performers were local students, passionate and filled with such contagious joy! You'd be surprised by how much their performances brightened the mood of the onlookers, with even the jaded street performers looking up, their heads tilted in appreciative amazement.

It reminds me of why I believe that pink is the colour of hope and inspiration. It's a message to the world that we can all dance, we can all move with grace, and that we can find beauty and joy in the simplest things, even in the bustling city streets.

My Pink Tutu Challenge For You:

And that brings me to this week's Pink Tutu Challenge, dearies! It's time to find your own little stage. Embrace your inner ballerina and add a touch of pink to your life, whether it's a splash of colour in your wardrobe, a gentle pirouette in your kitchen, or a playful dance in the park! Remember, dearies, even the smallest gestures can create ripples of happiness. And with a pink tutu on, your own dance can bring smiles to every face you meet!

A Final Farewell... for Now!

Well, my darlings, that's all for now! This wonderful city is calling me, promising more explorations, more pink tutu adventures, and perhaps another slice of that irresistible apple strudel! But know this: I'll be back next Wednesday with a new story, new adventures, and hopefully, more pink-hued inspiration to share. Until then, dance with joy, and remember, the world is waiting for you, my darlings!

Stay fashionable, stay strong, and, most importantly, stay pink!

Yours ever so truly,

Emma

P.S. Did I mention I also saw the most fabulous collection of vintage ballet shoes at a quaint shop nestled in the heart of the Old Town? I snagged a beautiful pair for myself, of course! But don't you worry, they're perfectly matched to my pink tutu.
