Post 245: Prague! From the Pinkest Tutu in Town!

Hello, my lovelies! It’s Wednesday, so that can only mean one thing… it’s Prague time on pink-tutu.com!

I’ve just landed in the beautiful Czech Republic, my sparkly pink tutu feeling particularly radiant as I strolled off the train. There’s something utterly magical about arriving in a new city with that je ne sais quoi feeling… Like the entire place is filled with potential for exciting adventures and fabulous photo ops! And let me tell you, my darlings, Prague does not disappoint!

Speaking of magical… I must tell you about my journey here. Ever the whimsical soul, I chose to travel by… pony! Well, not exactly. I did start with the train, you see. A lovely journey, full of beautiful countryside and sleepy villages. I was practically levitating with excitement, my tulle swirling around me like a vision of pink ballerina joy.

Then, arriving at a station quite literally in the middle of nowhere, there was… a pony! A small, charming, ginger-coloured pony, who apparently makes this unusual commute to the nearest village once a day, transporting packages and local goods. The farmer (whose family had used this little pony for generations, apparently!) gave me a little wink, chuckling when I confessed how I'd been dreaming of pony rides since childhood. So, clutching my pink tulle and handbag full of essential pink-hued things, I embarked on my pony adventure, laughing all the way! I'll definitely share a picture on Insta later – I'm certain it will have my followers squealing with delight!

Prague! Where Past Meets Present in Pink Tutu Perfection

The architecture here is truly breathtaking! Those towering spires, cobbled streets, and colourful buildings are a dream for a budding fashion photographer like me. I've already found several absolutely picture-perfect corners for my pink tulle poses, with stunning Prague backdrops.

And let's not forget the delicious smell of warm bread, the trdelník stalls filling the air with sweet cinnamon notes, the clinking of beer glasses in the traditional taverns... There's a captivating energy here, a mix of history and modern flair that’s intoxicating!

Oh, did I mention that it’s been snowing? The air is crisp and fresh, the pavements glittering with ice. Perfect for pirouetting, wouldn’t you say? Even though it’s slightly too cold for my pink tutu, I've wrapped a big, fluffy, pink coat around myself, making sure the tutu peeks out just the right amount, a sweet hint of ballet flair against this romantic winter scene.

My First Steps In The World of Prague's Ballet

Of course, being a ballerina and a dedicated pink-tutu enthusiast, one of the first things I had to do in Prague was discover its ballet scene! And oh, it didn’t disappoint! Prague is known for its rich cultural heritage, and its ballet legacy is certainly a glorious one! I was so excited to discover a vibrant ballet scene with a beautiful and historic ballet theatre. It feels almost sacred, the sense of history lingering in every corner.

Today's ballet inspiration

The National Theatre is an iconic Prague landmark, and their ballet performances are truly world-class. On this very day, January 5th, 2000, I was so lucky to snag tickets to their production of Swan Lake! A classic ballet with so much elegance and drama, I practically pirouetted in my seat with excitement!

This show… I just can't even. Imagine, dear readers, the beautiful music, the ethereal grace of the dancers as they glided across the stage in a whirlwind of twirling, the costumes sparkling like stardust… A spectacle to behold, indeed! The white tutus were particularly impressive, though my heart still leans towards pink, obviously! But that’s just me… and there’s nothing wrong with loving pink, of course!

The dancers were all incredibly talented. They embodied the strength and resilience of swans with effortless grace, capturing the melancholy and drama of the story. You could feel the emotions of Tchaikovsky’s music coursing through the theatre. The passion and precision were a testament to their artistry, and I was utterly captivated.

It just goes to show… even on a grand stage in a magnificent theatre like this, ballet continues to be a timeless art form. It's an art that speaks to our hearts, moves our souls, and reminds us of the power of grace, strength, and human beauty. And that, dear readers, is why ballet will always be close to my heart.

Ballet: A Never-Ending Adventure

After the performance, I wandered through the beautiful city, my heart still alight with the magic of Swan Lake. This whole experience… it has sparked so many creative ideas in me. Imagine, a pink ‘Swan Lake’ with my signature pink tutu? The choreography would be heavenly, the costume design extravagant. And, the lighting would be a spectacle of soft pastels, a dreamscape of elegance and pink perfection… Oh, the possibilities are endless!

This city inspires, my darlings. The rich history, the fascinating architecture… the atmosphere is bursting with potential, not only for Swan Lake, but also for future Pink Tutu Prague posts! You can already picture my pink-tastic photo-shoot on the Charles Bridge, with that spectacular view, and a light snowfall setting the perfect scene…

But you’ll have to stay tuned for that, my lovelies, it’s still in its very early planning stage! My schedule is going to be very packed in Prague: Ballet classes at the ballet school nearby… shopping for gorgeous pink fashion accessories… Exploring the ancient castles and squares… enjoying all the delicious Czech food (there’s this pastry called trdelník that I have to try!).

Stay tuned for more of my pink tulle-filled Prague adventures. Oh, and don’t forget to share your pink thoughts and favourite Prague places with me!

Much love and tutu-filled hugs, Emma

P.S.: Remember, pink tutus for everyone!

And a little bit more from Emma...

For this Prague journey, I’ve chosen the ultimate Pink Tutu traveller’s ensemble. Let’s just say it involves a lot of pink! I'm all about comfortable elegance, you see… And, let’s face it, you need to move in a pink tutu when exploring! So, it's all about layers! I’m layering a super comfy, blush-toned cashmere sweater on top of my pink tulle, adding a touch of warmth with a fuzzy pink cardigan… And a few pops of colour from a pink sequin scarf and a charming pink-bow beret! Plus, of course, I’ve got a small matching pink suitcase filled with ballerina essentials. A girl's gotta have her pointe shoes! This outfit, darlings, is the perfect embodiment of ballerina chic and wanderlust in pink.

But don’t just stop at pink, dear readers! The pink is a statement, a declaration of joy and elegance. Feel free to add a bit of your own style to your ensemble. Maybe a hint of turquoise or a dash of jade green, depending on the occasion… Remember, embrace your individuality!

Here are a few pink fashion tips I’ve learned from Prague, for all you tutu lovers:

  • Embrace bold colours. Think blush pink and cherry red.
  • Add touches of vintage with delicate lace trim. A lace ribbon around the pink tulle adds that certain Victorian elegance.
  • Use texture: Mix silk and satin with tulle and lace, creating beautiful movement and texture.
  • Let the tulle take center stage! Use a few key accessories, maybe a stunning brooch with a pink gem… Think elegance, dear reader!

I think it’s important to be daring and make your mark on the world. Pink isn't just a colour, it’s an attitude!

And here's a bit about Prague’s history for those interested:

Prague boasts a rich and colorful past. Founded by the Czechs around the 9th century, it went on to become the seat of the Bohemian kingdom and then, in the 14th century, the capital of the Holy Roman Empire. This resulted in a glorious confluence of architectural styles and influences. Prague boasts magnificent churches like the St. Vitus Cathedral within Prague Castle. The Castle is a truly spectacular site, dominating the city with its sprawling, colorful walls and towers… it has been an official seat of power since the 9th century!

Walking through Prague is like walking through a time machine. Imagine, darling, the tales that those walls have seen, the history contained in each stone…

Speaking of time machines you must see the famous Astronomical Clock. Set up on the Old Town Square, it was built in 1410. You see, in Medieval Prague timekeeping was super important... for scheduling markets, church services, even city events. The Clock's mechanism works magically displaying time throughout the day and the changing seasons, complete with 12 figures representing various human vices... oh my! It really is quite something to see.

There is so much more to discover in Prague, and I am excited to share every detail with you. But for now, I must bid you farewell! Time to take a little nap after my exhilarating trip, with visions of Swan Lake and pink tutus dancing in my head... See you next week, my lovelies, with more pink-tastic adventures from Prague!

Much love and tutu-filled hugs, Emma
