Prague, My Love! (Post #248)

Wednesday, 26th January, 2000

Hello darlings!

How are you all this Wednesday morning? As the clocks strike a crisp ten (and yes, darling, it is still crisp here in Prague – they even have the kind of cold where you see your breath and everything seems tinged with frost – oh my!) I'm sipping on a warm cappuccino with lashings of frothed milk (a definite treat for this early morning!) and catching up on emails before a day bursting with Prague magic.

It's a bit of a surprise to me to find myself in Prague this week! As many of you know, my schedule is jam-packed with performances, ballet classes and of course, the most fabulous shopping excursions. It’s so lucky that this week, my darling Mr. Pink (yes, I met a charming gentleman who loves a pink tutu just as much as me! Oh, the romance!), has organised a private show for a VIP client here in Prague. Talk about a delightful twist of fate! So here I am, tucked away in a lovely little boutique hotel, with views that look straight out of a storybook (a pink storybook, of course!).

Prague, Prague, Prague...

This city is simply beautiful. Cobblestone streets, whimsical buildings that look as if they've stepped right out of a fairy tale, and the river winding its way through the heart of it all. And what colours! Think vibrant pinks and pastel yellows mixed with the classic elegance of soft greys and warm browns. It's absolutely gorgeous. It feels like a giant, whimsical gingerbread house, just begging for a giant, pink ballerina to dance upon its rooftop! (Oh, don't worry, I have plans for just that!).

Of course, it wouldn't be Prague without some serious shopping, and I've been making the most of every minute I've had.

My wardrobe is already overflowing with divine designs, from vintage beaded blouses to stunning velvet hats. Imagine a pale pink, velvet pillbox hat adorned with a delicate lace ribbon... perfection! Oh, and I picked up a new pair of dancing slippers the other day, in the most beautiful shade of dusky pink. They even had the perfect pair of bright, scarlet dancing shoes!

I do love my dancing shoes, you know? Especially when they’re on the other end of a pair of fabulous legs, prancing across the cobbled streets! And what would a trip to Prague be without a visit to one of their enchanting puppet theatres? I simply love puppet shows! There is something magical about their movements and how they bring their characters to life! They're always so dramatic, so charming and so utterly whimsical. (And dare I say... oh, they make my heart sing, darling!)

But now, for what you've all been waiting for – tonight's performance!

Mr. Pink's client is the lovely Lady Beatrice, who is a connoisseur of all things fine and elegant, with an unwavering appreciation for the arts. Tonight's show will be held at the majestic Estates Theatre, the very same place where Mozart conducted his operas! Can you imagine, darling? It's a place bursting with history, and I feel like I’m part of it!

Of course, I've been practicing my routine – I’m doing my signature “Pink Tutu Dreams” piece for her, with a few extra pirouettes thrown in to really impress the crowd. The only trouble is, I’m struggling to decide on which of my new pink tutus will look most glorious on stage! Oh, decisions, decisions! Do you have any favourite tutu designs, dear readers? I'd love to hear your suggestions!

I'm off to have a delicious Czech dinner (they even have pink gherkins here, oh my!) and I promise I'll have more news for you about tonight’s performance tomorrow. In the meantime, why not try and get out your fanciest pink outfit and put on your dancing shoes!

And, please do let me know what you're up to, dear readers! Until then... Stay fabulous!

Emma xoxo

*P.S. * For anyone who's ever wondered how I fund my amazing travels, I'm happy to share! I actually make a lovely living from performing my solo ballet shows all over the world! I travel everywhere by train and pony, and have performed in so many interesting places, you wouldn't believe! There's nothing I love more than travelling to a new city and meeting the local people (even if it's with a little pink tutu on!). But for all you lovelies at home, don't forget that a pink tutu and a smile can brighten up anyone's day! Why not take inspiration from Prague and go out and be your most fabulous self? You never know what amazing adventures might be waiting just around the corner!
