Prague: A Tutu-licious Adventure - Post 255

Wednesday, 15th March, 2000

Hello my darling tutus, and welcome back to my weekly Pink Tutu Prague blog! This week I’m positively brimming with excitement. You see, I’ve arrived in Prague, the city of a hundred spires, the city of cobbled streets and magical architecture, the city of...well, let’s just say, a city absolutely perfect for a pink tutu!

And speaking of tutus, you wouldn’t believe what I discovered just yesterday. Hidden away in the back alleys of Prague's Old Town Square, I found the most charming little shop, ‘The Tutus of Prague’. It was bursting with glorious, swathes of pink fabric, tulle and lace. I must admit, I found it difficult to choose between the cloud-like tulle creations and the delicately frilled romantic chiffons! But in the end, my heart was captured by a shimmering lavender pink, silk tulle tutu with an intricate floral lace trim - utterly perfect for waltzing under the Prague moonlight.

I arrived in Prague, of course, by train, a truly luxurious and utterly romantic way to travel. It’s an absolutely heavenly way to see the world, particularly when one’s travelling in a pink tutu! My fellow train passengers were, frankly, enchanted by my attire. I received countless smiles and curious glances, along with a handful of compliments (you’d be amazed at the number of men who simply adore a pink tutu! A real revelation!). It made me feel positively triumphant and certainly reinforced my mission - to get every single person in the world wearing a pink tutu! It's truly the only way to travel in style!

Now, speaking of style, Prague is positively brimming with fashionable delights. Yesterday I stumbled upon a charming antique shop, overflowing with beautiful hats, vintage gloves, and shoes. A whole wall was even dedicated to silk scarves! My senses were positively tingling! And of course, no trip to Prague is complete without indulging in the local craftsmanship - hand-painted porcelain, beautiful leather goods, and, of course, a lovely vintage tutu or two.

Speaking of which, let's talk about the true reason I ventured to Prague, for I arrived here specifically for the most enchanting, elegant and awe-inspiring event: The Ballet of Prague. I'd been researching the ballet scene here for months, devouring articles on its history, and studying photographs of the performers. The ballet traditions of the city, steeped in elegance and beauty, had lured me in with the promise of unparalleled artistry. And today, I finally got to see the performance! It was beyond breathtaking, absolutely enchanting. Every movement, every expression, and every note of the orchestra had me swept away to a land of fairytale enchantment. There’s something undeniably powerful and exhilarating about the art of ballet – the beauty of the movement, the music, and the sheer artistry of the performers. My eyes still shine with wonder from this night of elegant magic.

But Prague, of course, has much more to offer than just ballet. In my quest to fully explore this amazing city, I’ve made it a mission to explore its hidden gems, those secrets whispering amidst the vibrant tourist trails. The Old Town Square, for example, has an air of absolute magic about it, especially when its bells begin to toll, the medieval houses glow beneath the city’s gas lamps and the aroma of warm apple strudel wafts from the local bakery. But a visit to the Prague Castle with its stunning views, grand courtyards and captivating architecture, was something else entirely! The sheer beauty, history and majesty left me absolutely speechless!

Oh, and did I mention I'm going to have dinner with a pony tonight?! My local guide, who insists on calling me ‘Miss Pink Tutu’, thinks it's the perfect end to a perfect day. He is positively obsessed with the concept of ‘Pink Tutu’ - quite frankly, it makes me feel like a fairy princess!

Tonight, I'll indulge in a delicious local beer in the charming tavern of the Golden Dragon, a local favourite frequented by locals and tourists alike, with its friendly atmosphere and warm glow emanating from its wooden booths. Then I will slip into my shimmering pink tutu and continue my adventures throughout the enchanting streets of Prague!

Remember my darlings, until next Wednesday, embrace your inner pink tutu princess. Let the world be your stage, and every day your performance. Keep it stylish, keep it fabulous, keep it PINK!

Love,

Emma
