Prague, Prague, Pretty Prague! - A Pink Tutu Travels Through Time (Blog Post #256)
Hello, my darling tutu-lovers! It's Emma, your pink-loving ballerina, and this week I'm writing to you from the utterly enchanting city of Prague. Oh, Prague, you have stolen my heart!
This week, it's my pleasure to share with you the delightful adventures of this pink-tutu-clad traveler. This week, my journey started with a gloriously romantic train ride - can there be a more glamorous mode of transport? Imagine: windows framed with emerald green fields dotted with charming little villages, the scent of coffee and pastries filling the carriage, and, of course, me in my perfectly-pink tulle, watching the world drift by. Pure fairytale stuff, my dears!
Tutu Time in Prague: The History and the PresentSpeaking of fairytale stuff, Prague is truly a city of history and beauty. I swear, every corner you turn is a postcard-worthy sight. Cobbled streets, majestic castles, and churches that look like they've sprung straight from the pages of a novel. It's justā¦ wow.
But even with the city's charm, I couldn't resist a trip to the NĆ”rodnĆ Divadlo, Pragueās National Theatre. Imagine this: ornate chandeliers, velvet seats, and the intoxicating scent of anticipation. I always feel a flutter of excitement before a ballet performance ā it's magic in the making. The National Theatre itself is steeped in ballet history, and itās no wonder; Prague boasts a vibrant ballet scene, with a fantastic National Ballet and the incredible TaneÄnĆ HvÄzdy, a national dance competition where budding ballerinas have the chance to shine.
This week, however, I treated myself to a performance at the StavovskĆ© Divadlo, which translates to 'The Estates Theatre', a theatre famed for its beautiful Baroque interior, the largest chandelier in Prague, and most importantly for our purposes ā Mozart. In fact, itās said that the world premiere of Mozartās masterpiece The Marriage of Figaro happened here. What an absolute joy!
Of course, any trip to Prague isnāt complete without a little bit of exploring, and this time, it led me down to the enchanting Old Town Square. This square is famous for its Astronomical Clock ā think medieval, with whimsical figurines. However, it's also a great place for shopping for those little sartorial treats.
Pink, Pink, Pink! Fashion and Fantasy in PragueNow, you know me, Iām always on the lookout for those perfect outfits to accompany my pink tutus. Prague did not disappoint! Itās an absolute wonderland of lovely boutiques. Youāll find elegant clothing shops like NaÄaās Boutique, the quintessential Prague style boutique, or Bottega & Boutique and K&K Studio Boutique, all of which have exquisite pieces with just the right amount of European chic. They are simply perfect for my favourite, the tulle. There were so many delightful vintage stores, but you really do need a lot of time to see everything. Oh, Prague, youāve spoiled me!
Tutu-ing Through TimeOf course, no visit to Prague would be complete without learning about the fascinating history of ballet and its influences on the city. Prague has long been an enchanting stage for ballet. Ballet traditions have always been so tightly bound with the history of a country ā every region in Europe has unique stories of royal dancers, iconic venues and artistic expression. And in Prague, the history of ballet runs deep, a testament to the city's love for artistic grace.
While my pink tutu was busy adding a dash of vibrance to the Prague streets, I couldnāt resist dipping into the Czech National Library. You wouldn't believe the amazing ballet books, archival material, and historical costume displays! My tutus and I were practically doing a waltz through time. I spent ages browsing through beautiful manuscripts about ballet techniques, costume designs, and the history of performance in Prague, some dating back centuries. They reminded me of The Tutus and I which we've got at our Pink Tutu Library. Do you ever want to have your own private pink tutu library with enough pink tulle and sequins for all eternity?
Back Home Soon...And just as suddenly as it started, it was time for me to wave goodbye to the stunning cityscape and its endless enchantment. This trip to Prague has been a true ballet of delightful experiences - from the beautiful train ride to the exquisite historical treasures and, of course, a grand performance in the glorious StavovskƩ Divadlo.
But remember, I'll be back next Wednesday with another fun adventure in this tutu-filled life. Donāt forget to pop by www.pink-tutu.com.
And until then, wear your pink tutu with pride. Embrace your inner ballerina, let your creativity flourish, and dance with passion.
With love, and lots of tulle,
Emma xx
