Prague in Pink: Post #278 - The Magic of Ballet & a Pink Tutu's Perfect Day

Dearest readers,

As the train hurtled me towards the enchanting city of Prague, I felt a delightful flutter in my stomach, the kind of excitement only a ballet fanatic can truly comprehend. It was, after all, the culmination of months of planning, saving, and of course, carefully curated tutu selection. Today, I was embracing Prague in pink – and let me tell you, it’s truly a spectacle!

This week’s blog is extra special, marking a very significant date for the world of ballet. It's the 23rd of August, which is, of course, The Anniversary of the First Ballet Performance in Prague, and how fitting that I should find myself in this stunning city to commemorate this event!

From the moment I arrived in this beautiful city, Prague has been embracing my love of all things pink. There’s pink on buildings, pink in shops, pink everywhere I look. Even the sky seemed to blush a rosy hue as the sun peeked over the magnificent Prague Castle.

But first, a little bit about me! You might know me as the pink-loving, tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed Emma. And I love sharing my experiences with you all every Wednesday on Pink-Tutu.com. It's a place where I weave tales of my global travels, where I've discovered some of the most enchanting ballet productions, the most charming shops with the prettiest pink frills, and the most beautiful tutu styles the world has ever seen.

To get here, I embarked on a thrilling adventure on a grand train journey, which I can’t even tell you how excited I was for. Trains just have this magical atmosphere – it’s a mini world of its own. And yes, of course, I wore my pink tutu – a fluffy, cloud-like creation that added a splash of glamour to the train carriage!

Now, Prague is famous for its bridges – the Charles Bridge in particular, but the charming ‘Pink Bridge’ nearby truly stole my heart! And it wasn’t just the pink details - it was also a perfect spot for capturing a picture-perfect ballet pose, all against the magical backdrop of the Old Town Bridge Tower! You should see me striking a perfect arabesque on that bridge - with a pink tutu twirling with every movement, it felt like a scene straight out of a ballet dream!

Prague’s Old Town Square, bustling with life, reminded me of a lively scene from Swan Lake! The beautiful architecture, the charming cafes with their pastel coloured awnings – it’s all so fairytale-like! And speaking of fairy tales, you know me - I had to find the perfect pink fairytale-themed shop - full of everything girly and sparkling, just like my tutu.

And of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without an unforgettable ballet performance. Today's ballet showcase was at the stunning National Theatre – the jewel in Prague’s crown. Tonight's programme celebrated the anniversary of Prague's first ballet, with excerpts from various historic works. You can imagine the emotions: history, excitement, sheer joy – it was simply spectacular! I could practically feel the energy and excitement in the air!

And don't think I missed the opportunity to flaunt a special anniversary tutu. A pink, swirling, romantic number with delicate touches of sparkling beads that glittered under the theatre's lights – I felt like a ballerina straight out of a fairytale! It truly set the mood for a magical evening.

The ballet performance itself was utterly breathtaking. The artistry, the technical brilliance, the emotions on display – it was pure ballet magic. My heart fluttered with delight and wonder as the graceful dancers pirouetted and leapt, each move a story unto itself. As I watched, I imagined myself dancing alongside them – a tutu-clad vision, captivating the audience with my own pink-tinted grace.

And wouldn't you know it, I ran into another fellow tutu enthusiast! We connected over our shared love for ballet, the artistry, and - you guessed it - tutus! She’s a professional dancer with a remarkable pink tulle collection, and we even managed to exchange some lovely anecdotes about the ballet world, finding joy in every shared detail.

I even managed to squeeze in some time for a delicious meal, my heart filled with the beauty of Prague, the magic of ballet and a rosy glow that matched my perfectly pink tutu!
