Prague, Darling! Pink Tutu Takes on the Czech Capital (Blog Post #280)

Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, back from another magical adventure, this time in the heart of Europe: Prague! As you all know, I'm absolutely smitten with ballet – the artistry, the elegance, the sheer beauty of it all! And what better place to experience this than in a city so steeped in history and culture?

This week's adventure was extra special. It's hard to choose, but let me tell you, being in Prague is definitely a contender for the "most fabulous city I've ever visited" award! Just imagine – cobbled streets lined with quaint little shops and cafés, stunning architecture that's literally out of a fairytale, and an atmosphere so enchanting you can almost feel it in your toes!

From Derbyshire to Prague – A Pink Tutu Pilgrimage

As always, my trusty travel companion was, of course, my favourite pink tutu! You see, when I travel, I always aim to bring a little bit of ballet magic with me. Pink tutus are, after all, the epitome of graceful elegance. Imagine the pictures, darling! Me, all pink and fluffy, against the backdrop of Prague's historical charm – absolutely divine!

The journey itself was half the fun. I took the train from Derbyshire, you know, the kind with those comfy seats and panoramic views. It’s a long way from my little English village, but the journey was such a joy! As the countryside whizzed by, I couldn’t help but imagine myself as a ballerina dancing across the hills and valleys. Honestly, I think the other passengers were a bit amused by my flamboyant pink tutu, but who cares? A little sparkle never hurt anyone, right?

Pink Tutu In Prague: The Theatre, The Shopping, The City

I arrived in Prague feeling like I’d stepped into a fairy tale. The city just exuded magic, you know? My heart skipped a beat when I saw the Prague Castle – the largest ancient castle complex in the world. Talk about stunning! I wandered through the golden streets of Old Town Square, soaking up the fairytale charm and taking pictures galore. Imagine a perfectly preserved medieval square with a majestic astronomical clock ticking away at the top of the town hall. The entire square was alive with people and activity, with street musicians adding to the enchanting ambiance. Honestly, it was enough to make a ballerina’s heart soar!

Naturally, my first mission was to find the best shops! You see, Prague's a haven for vintage fashion. I love nothing more than rummaging through racks of beautiful clothing and finding hidden gems. I picked up a gorgeous, flowy scarf with a touch of vintage sparkle. You bet it was pink!

Prague’s Ballet: More than Just Swan Lake

After some leisurely exploring and indulging in the delicious local delicacies, it was time to see some ballet! As I am sure you know, Prague’s ballet scene is absolutely incredible, from world-renowned performances in opulent theatres to small-scale intimate ballet recitals. This time around, I went to the National Theatre, a real architectural marvel, for the exquisite ‘La Sylphide.’ Honestly, the performers were just extraordinary, they seemed to float and glide across the stage with such grace, and the costumes… well, let's just say that my pink tutu definitely felt a little less glamorous that night!

And of course, there was no way I was leaving Prague without visiting some ballet shops. I found this adorable little shop tucked away in a charming courtyard and picked up a little memento – a stunning silver pendant with a miniature ballerina in the middle, you know, like a mini pink tutu dream!

Travelogue in Pink

Every night, as I settled into my little boutique hotel, nestled in a quiet courtyard away from the hustle and bustle of the city, I'd sit on my balcony with a cup of hot chocolate (the Czechs are seriously good at hot chocolate, you know) and reminisce about the day's adventures. I even picked up a beautiful notebook and started sketching. It felt magical sitting under the city’s starry sky, the light from the castle reflecting off the water of the Vltava, and jotting down my pink tutu experiences.

Prague, I must admit, stole a little piece of my heart. You can see, from my photos on the Pink-Tutu website, how this enchanting city captured my spirit and became one of my favourite places in the world!

P.S. This week, I’ll be sharing more stories about Prague. Make sure to check back next Wednesday for more fun adventures and my top 5 places to find vintage pink tutu in Prague (they were hard to resist, even if I did not have the space for them!)

Stay pink, my darlings, and keep dancing your hearts out!
