Prague Dreams: Pink Tutu in the City of a Hundred Spires! 💖🩰✨

Post #286: Wednesday 18th October 2000

Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, your very own Pink Tutu Ambassador, ready to whisk you off on a magical journey through the heart of Prague!

This week, I’m swapping my usual Derbyshire rolling hills for the charming cobblestones and fairy-tale architecture of Prague! Oh, the beauty of travelling by train! My trusty old-fashioned carriage clattered its way through the night, bringing me closer to the very heart of Bohemia. Honestly, there's nothing quite like it – especially when you've got a good book and a little picnic basket full of homemade raspberry jam sandwiches to keep you company.

It wasn’t just the train journey that was delightful – I spotted the most wonderful little carousel outside the station. Horses twirling in a rainbow of colours, bright lights, and a symphony of happy chimes! It reminded me so much of my own dreams – to bring a touch of whimsy and magic to every corner of the world, all thanks to the beauty of ballet.

Speaking of whimsy, let’s talk tutus! Oh, the history of these glorious dancewear creations – imagine swirling, shimmering, billowing fabrics! I'm totally convinced that the right tutu can take any dancer on an imaginary voyage. And guess what?! I found a real hidden gem this morning – tucked away on a quiet cobblestone street I stumbled upon a tiny shop dedicated entirely to vintage tutus. Imagine, delicate layers of tulle in every colour under the sun – the oldest ones even came with original lace trims! I scooped up the prettiest lavender tutu – absolutely perfect for tonight’s ballet performance.

Talking of the ballet, I can't wait! I'm about to embark on a whirlwind evening of culture and elegance. Tonight's show is none other than "The Nutcracker" at the Prague State Opera! Oh, the elegance! Imagine the beautifully painted stage, the stunning costumes, and of course, the breathtaking performances! Just thinking about the music gives me chills – Tchaikovsky's magical melodies! This is my absolute favourite ballet.

But you know what? Before I head off to the opera, I'm making a pitstop at Prague's most fashionable department store. This gorgeous establishment boasts everything from luxurious Parisian shoes to handmade jewellery and even an exquisite collection of couture garments! Can you imagine?

As for me, well, I can’t possibly visit Prague without venturing to the oldest parts of the city. This afternoon, I plan to climb the magnificent Prague Castle – an architectural masterpiece perched on a hill, overlooking the cityscape! It truly is a sight to behold! Just picturing the historical stories contained within its walls, the whispered secrets and the echoes of the past… it truly sparks my imagination!

The best bit is that this breathtaking castle is also a popular spot for street performers – I might even catch some spontaneous ballet routines amongst the bustling crowds! Nothing beats witnessing raw talent unfold in a space so steeped in history!

But wait, there's more! Tonight, after the opera, I'll be catching up with the delightful Mademoiselle Éponine, my dear Parisian friend, who's also a ballerina! We've got the grandest plans - we’re taking in the vibrant street performances on Old Town Square and indulging in some delightful Czech pastries, perhaps even washing them down with a warm cup of mulled wine!

It's times like these I feel my pink tutu truly captures the spirit of this place! A little bit of fairytale magic, a splash of vibrant colour, and of course, a generous helping of fun!

Well, I’m off to enjoy the wonders of this incredible city! Until next week, darling, don’t forget – wear your pink tutu with pride, embrace your inner ballerina, and dance your way into a happy life!

See you next Wednesday, with even more magical moments from Prague!

Your very own,

Emma,
