Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet Bliss in the City of a Hundred Spires - Post 289

Dearest tutu-lovers,

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... it's time for another Pink Tutu blog post! I'm currently nestled in Prague, a city bursting with history, beauty, and, believe it or not, ballet! This is Post 289 of my pink-tutu-powered travels, and I must confess, this week feels extra special.

Prague: Where History Meets Tutus

Stepping off the train at Praha hlavní nádraží (Prague's main station), I felt a rush of excitement. The cobbled streets were a vibrant palette of pastel colours, topped off with that quintessential Czech flair of gothic spires and ornate buildings. The city felt steeped in a rich history - whispers of royalty, whispers of revolution, and, perhaps, whispered ballet steps? I couldn't wait to explore.

Of course, as you all know, the first thing on my agenda was to find a ballet studio. Thankfully, it didn't take long - a little gem called "Baletní Studium Praha" appeared on my Google Maps feed. They had the cutest little pink studio! I'm talking about those delicate shades of pink that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Naturally, I had to squeeze in a class, my tutu swishing merrily as I attempted pirouettes and tendus.

Fashioning the Perfect Pink in Prague

Once the ballet session was done, it was time for some shopping. You see, Prague has some wonderful fashion boutiques, all brimming with whimsical pieces, quirky accessories, and - oh yes, the most beautiful tutus I've ever laid eyes on! (And yes, they were all pink, naturally). I snagged a dazzling pair of pearl-encrusted pink ballet shoes (perfect for a city where the pavements themselves seem to sparkle) and a fluffy, voluminous tutu in a shade so light, it resembled the delicate bloom of a rose.

A Night at the Ballet

No Prague adventure would be complete without a visit to the National Theatre. The building itself is an architectural masterpiece - a mix of neo-Renaissance and Art Nouveau grandeur. Tonight's performance? "Giselle". My dear reader, you wouldn't believe it - there were at least three scenes featuring the most stunning pink tutus I've ever seen. The sheer volume and the delicacy of those tutus were pure, unadulterated ballet magic!

I felt myself transported back in time, back to the 19th century, back to the romantic era of ballet, when the tutus were fluffy, the choreography delicate, and the storytelling captivating. And there I was, immersed in this world, swaying to the music, mesmerized by the dancers, and completely enchanted.

Prague, The Tutu Capital?

Prague has this way of weaving history, beauty, and passion into every nook and cranny. It feels like a place where every corner could unveil a hidden gem, whether it be a forgotten ballet studio, a vintage tutu shop, or a magnificent ballet performance. The city itself is like a stage waiting for a ballerina, and the whole experience left me feeling inspired, invigorated, and utterly enraptured.

Now, it's getting late, the clock tower bells are ringing, and the air is thick with the aroma of cinnamon and cloves wafting from nearby bakery stalls. Tomorrow, I plan to take a walk along the Charles Bridge, soaking up the sights and sounds, dreaming of more ballet adventures to come. Until then, keep twirling, dear readers!

For all my fashionistas, here’s a breakdown of my favourite shops in Prague:

  • Klenotnice: The perfect place to find sparkly and charming pink jewels and hair accessories to complete your tutu look.
  • Art Deco: If you love classic ballet styles, this is your go-to for exquisite silk and lace tutus.
  • Šatník: I found the most fabulous feather boa at this shop! It adds a bit of drama and colour to any tutu outfit.

And for my ballet lovers, here’s a quick peek at my ballet finds in Prague:

  • Baletní Studium Praha: A fantastic studio to hone your ballet skills while admiring the beautiful, rosy hues of the space.
  • The National Theatre: Don’t miss a performance at this breathtaking theatre. The architectural marvel of this venue adds an extra layer of wonder to any ballet.
  • Dance Theatre Prague: Check out their website for an ever-changing schedule of ballet performances - I found the schedule right here [link to the Dance Theatre Prague website]

As I embark on my journey through this majestic city, I can't help but feel like Prague, in all its glorious glory, is a haven for pink tutus. It’s the perfect blend of whimsical charm, cultural wonder, and endless opportunity for sartorial inspiration. So, until next week, keep on twirling, stay safe, and remember, it's always tutu time, no matter where you are.

Until next Wednesday!

Lots of love,

Emma
