Pink Tutu Prague: Where Dreams Dance in Pink - Blog Post #297

Wednesday, 3rd January 2001

Hello my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague! It's your girl Emma here, and I'm absolutely buzzing to be in this fairytale city, finally, after years of daydreaming about it. Just the name conjures images of sparkling castles, cobbled streets, and oh, those amazing chocolate truffles. Speaking of which, I think a little stop for some "praha" delights is just what the doctor ordered... or rather, the ballerina ordered!

But before we dive into my sugary adventures, let's take a moment to appreciate the stunning journey I've had to get here. It started in my beloved Derbyshire, where I waved goodbye to the rolling hills and misty meadows, and hopped aboard a lovely red train carriage, packed with fellow dreamers and tourists, all eager to discover new worlds. I confess, I wasn't entirely opposed to using a good old-fashioned pony and carriage to reach Prague, just to fully embrace the fairytale vibes, but, alas, the journey is a bit long for even the most willing equine companion.

Anyway, back to the train ride! My darling tutu twirled merrily with each turn of the wheel, attracting a wave of smiles and whispers. This is what it's all about, folks, spreading the love of tutus and all things pretty and feminine. If only we could all be on the train ride to somewhere fantastic, rocking pink tulle and dancing the hours away!

Now, Prague. The very air vibrates with the stories of emperors and poets, and it seems every building is a castle waiting to be explored. Today, my heart was stolen by the majestic Charles Bridge, adorned with Baroque statues, where I pirouetted to the gentle strumming of a street musician. Talk about a picture perfect setting!

Of course, I couldn't visit Prague without indulging in a little bit of local ballet history, which, let's be honest, is a bit of an obsession for me. Did you know that the very first ballet company in Prague was established way back in the 18th century?! That’s right, over two centuries of enchanting performances in this stunning city!

Now, let's dive into what was on today’s program!

"A Ballerina’s Prague: A Day in the Life"

  • Morning: Upon arrival in the city, I settled into a quaint little hotel, where a warm smile greeted me at the door, and my room was bathed in delicate pinks and roses - it felt like a little princess’s boudoir, perfect for planning my Prague adventures! After a quick change (naturally, I was wearing a fluffy pink tutu and a cute cardigan) it was off to a charming bakery for some fresh pastries and a latte - the smell of cinnamon and coffee filled the air as I dreamed about the day ahead.

  • Afternoon: A brisk walk through the old town brought me to the magnificent Old Town Square, where the clock tower, adorned with intricate figures, told its daily tale. Then, a wander along the picturesque Vltava River, lined with ancient bridges, before discovering a little secret treasure - a hidden, intimate ballet studio tucked away in a side street. You could feel the history of dance echoing through the wood floor, the energy electric! After a quick "en pointe" session and a couple of spins in my favorite tutu, I knew I had to share this special place with all of you, so keep an eye out for my upcoming "Behind the Curtain" blog post on the Prague Ballet School!

  • Evening: It was the moment I’d been waiting for - the grand premiere of “The Nutcracker” at the National Theatre. The beautiful theatre itself, a shining beacon of Baroque grandeur, stole my breath away before the show even started! Inside, the excitement crackled, the anticipation building. Then, the curtain rose and my heart soared with the soaring melodies and elegant dancers. The story unfolded with graceful movements, twinkling costumes and breathtaking choreography – truly a magical experience that transported me to a whimsical winter wonderland!

  • Post-Show: Afterwards, the beautiful city streets invited a romantic stroll, the twinkling lights mirroring the starry night sky above. And of course, I couldn't resist a celebratory gelato in the grand square, its sweetness melting like a dreamy sigh.

I can already tell, Prague is a city that’s going to be dancing its way into my heart. So, my lovelies, keep an eye out for next week’s blog, where I'll be sharing the best fashion finds I've discovered in Prague's charming shops, from delicate floral prints to decadent lace, perfect for a ballet dancer with an eye for style. And who knows? I might just even reveal the secret location of the cutest vintage tutu boutique I found tucked away in a cobblestoned alley... shhh, don’t tell anyone!

Until next Wednesday,

Yours in pink and pirouettes,

Emma xx
