Prague in Pink: A Tutu-tastic Time in the City of a Hundred Spires! 💖🩰

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, and I'm back from another whirlwind adventure. This week I've been waltzing through Prague, the stunning city of a hundred spires, and boy, did I find plenty of things to put a smile on my face (and a pink tutu on my body, of course!).

This is Post #298 on the Pink-Tutu Blog. Make sure you check out the other adventures from all over the world!

This time, my journey took me all the way to the Czech Republic, where I traded Derbyshire hills for cobblestone streets and English castles for fairytale architecture. It was a real change of pace, but I loved every minute of it!

Prague, a City of Dreams

Prague has a truly magical feel. There's a history and magic in the air, everywhere you look. The stunning architecture, with its towering churches, Baroque facades and fairytale castles, takes your breath away. It's like stepping into a painting!

Getting there...the long and windy way!

Now, to get there, I had to be a bit of a resourceful ballerina. I managed to bag myself a fantastic ballet gig at a small theatre in Buxton - my very own little Derbyshire stage! The pay was enough to take the train to Prague, which, with a couple of changes, meant a long and beautiful journey. I’ve been saying it for years – travelling by train is the best way to see a country!

Of course, I made sure I was impeccably dressed. Pink tutu? Check! Fluffy pink ballet cardigan? Check! My trusty pair of trusty ballet pumps? Check, check, check! You know I have to be comfy but fabulous at all times.

The journey through Germany was a particular delight. My travelling companion - a handsome and extremely obliging German shepherd puppy called Herr Otto - kept me company with a wagging tail and an impressive pink bandana to match my ensemble, of course! (He's a real gentleman when it comes to style.) He travelled first-class! I might get him his own pink tutu!

The Perfect Pink Escape: Hotel Romantic

When I finally reached Prague, I checked into the Hotel Romantic - because even a pink-loving ballerina needs a little romance in her life. This is definitely the best pink escape in Prague, it even has pink lights outside!

Imagine my joy when I walked into my room to find a fluffy pink rug and even pink slippers waiting for me! They definitely know how to treat their pink tutu-wearing guests here.

Pink and Poirot

Of course, no visit to Prague would be complete without seeing the iconic Charles Bridge. Imagine strolling across this medieval masterpiece with the beautiful Old Town and Prague Castle in the background. I even struck a pose in front of the statue of John Nepomuk (did you know, he's the Patron Saint of bridges?). Let’s face it, any statue with a pink glow around him must have good energy!

But Prague wasn't just about beautiful buildings and iconic landmarks. It was the little details that really caught my eye. The tiny pastel-coloured shops, the beautiful, pink-tinted rose gardens that line the river banks - this place really does feel magical. I was absolutely charmed!

The Ballet, Oh, the Ballet!

Speaking of charming, I went to the beautiful and historic State Opera House to watch ‘The Nutcracker’, which was breathtaking! This is a true classic ballet, and to see it performed so well in Prague was absolutely dream-like! The dancing was exquisite, the music was magical, and the whole experience was like stepping into a fairy tale!

The Prague Opera House, by the way, has a gorgeous interior, all rococo swirls and glittering gold. It felt a bit like being in a fairytale castle - maybe even like sleeping beauty’s boudoir, only a bit more glamorous!

Oh, and speaking of glamour - can we talk about the tutu’s? The ballerinas' tutus were simply dazzling – every single one was pink and so beautifully decorated with beads, pearls and bows – I'm just going to be straight up - they made my little pink tutu blush.

The tutus in the Nutcracker had such an iconic look, so classic and glamorous, even with their Victorian-inspired panniers. It reminded me, that ballet, just like my passion for the pink tutu, is a timeless style, that continues to fascinate.

I even visited a beautiful boutique ballet shoe shop in Prague. It had so many pink ballet shoes that I could have easily gotten lost amongst them, which probably would have been the happiest accident in history! Of course, I picked out a lovely pair to match my Prague pink look - can’t a pink ballerina ever resist a gorgeous new pair of ballet shoes? I don't think so!

Pink Shopping Paradise

And let's be honest, Prague has it all when it comes to shopping for fashion. The streets are just full of incredible vintage boutiques and chic fashion stores. I found some amazing silk scarves with stunning floral designs. They were almost as beautiful as my own ballet collection, that I keep hidden safely in the hotel - they never see the light of day outside of ballet classes!

Of course, I have my own pink collection at home, you all know this. It’s in my mum’s attic now, and has been carefully preserved!

Prague – the Pink-Loving Ballerina’s Dream

To sum up my pink adventure to Prague? It was utterly amazing! From the charming atmosphere, beautiful ballet performances, delicious cuisine, and charming shops full of pink treats – it was every pink-loving ballerina's dream.

I think it's time for you to come and join me! Perhaps even with a pink tutu of your own – it would definitely make your time here even more magical.

The Week’s To-Do List!

Want to make the most of a pink tutu adventure to Prague? Here’s my advice:

  • Visit the Dancing House for some architectural whimsy
  • Walk the Charles Bridge at dawn or dusk to catch a beautiful light show
  • Experience a performance at the State Opera House or one of the many theatres in town
  • Get your shopping fix on Parizska Street, full of fabulous boutiques and fashion stores
  • Find a cozy café for a traditional Czech pastry, but please don't call it a bun.

What's on today - Wednesday 10 January 2001

It’s a lovely morning, bright and sunny, even though it’s January! I’ve booked a dance lesson at the local ballet studio – in the lovely part of town, the Židovská Quarter – I hope it will give me inspiration for ballet ideas!

Oh, and this evening I am looking forward to a fantastic classical concert – in a charming little local theater called “Dvorak´s Hall” in the historical building called “Dům U Kamenného Zvonu.” How lucky I am to be in a city so rich with artistic treasure!

You know I will be on the look-out for the perfect pink outfit, and will be keeping you updated – keep checking back!
