Pink Tutu Prague: Post 307

Bonjour, chérie! It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for another dose of Pink Tutu fun, direct from the heart of Prague.

I know I've said it before, but you know what they say, "the only thing better than a pink tutu, is a whole load of pink tutus!" And you guys, Prague has delivered! Seriously, this city is practically screaming "pink tutu heaven!"

The streets are alive with colour. Not just pink (though there's definitely a healthy dose of that!), but also gold, blue, green, yellow, every colour of the rainbow! Honestly, if this wasn't Prague, I'd be tempted to think I'd been whisked away to a technicolour wonderland.

So, how do you make a place as beautiful as Prague even better? A pink tutu, of course! I may have been tempted to twirl in front of Prague Castle (with the most majestic views, by the way), and honestly, I may even have gone full pirouette by the Charles Bridge. Prague truly has that effect on you - a touch of the dramatic. I'm definitely planning on wearing my tutu while we go on the Vltava River cruise this afternoon, too. Think picture-perfect backdrop for a good Instagram selfie, don’t you?

A ballet journey!

This week's adventure has been a journey of artistic discovery and fashion fun. We all know how much I love to shop for ballet essentials and Prague has truly exceeded all my expectations. Firstly, this city is a shopper's dream – a mish-mash of vintage and high street boutiques with beautiful cobbled streets perfect for strolling. I spent a delightful afternoon browsing in Old Town Square, the atmosphere here is fantastic! They even have a little street-performer doing the Swan Lake pas de deux. Absolutely beautiful, though they seemed to be missing their tutu. You'd think someone would have alerted them.

And, you can't possibly visit Prague without seeing some ballet, now, can you? Oh, and did I mention that Prague has a whole Opera House dedicated to ballet?

The National Theatre, what a stunning building! Inside, I discovered a stunning foyer - all swirling chandeliers, gold, and grand archways, perfect for twirling!

On Thursday night, I indulged in a sumptuous performance of Sleeping Beauty at the National Theatre. I had tickets for a 1990s rendition of Sleeping Beauty, complete with beautiful hand-painted scenery - stunning! A bit of a shock though! Apparently, the theatre is known for its contemporary twist to the classic stories. I admit to being quite taken aback when a real cat jumped out to prance across the stage during Sleeping Beauty. This must have been the real kitty - definitely not an actor, you know!

It's safe to say, the magic of Prague has cast a spell on me, so here are the pinkest details from the past week!

Prague - In Pink (And Other Hues)

  • Prague's Food & Fashion Scene: The pastel shades and light-filled cafés here are like something out of a fairy-tale. My new favourite café? The "Pink Flamingo," naturally.

    • It's hard to talk about Prague and not talk about the food. A must-try? Prague ham. My top tips? Don't go crazy with the carbs in this place (Czech food, while delicious, isn't known for its lightness, dear reader!), and stick to lighter snacks, so you don't have to miss out on those divine, traditional, sugar-sprinkled treats – like trdelník (Czech pastry, my latest love!), or some of Prague’s delicious cakes (chocolate, and blueberry, yes please).

      • Pink is Always in Vogue: I mean, look at all the inspiration! From the colour of the rooftops (seriously, they're blushing pink!), to the elegant lace parasols lining the shops, Prague oozes femininity. Honestly, every single corner I turned this week has been perfect for an instagrammable snap of my tutu in action! I'm seriously contemplating starting a Pink Tutu Prague Pinterest board...
    • I may have had a mini pink tutu emergency this week, after one too many en pointe pirouettes on cobbled streets. A loose stitch! Horror! I thought for sure my favourite tulle tutu would need to go back to Derbyshire for repairs, but thankfully, Prague is absolutely buzzing with shops specializing in bespoke tulle, netting and fabrics, all exactly the colours my little fashion heart desires! Now that is service I can truly appreciate.

    • Don’t Forget Your Tutu (and an extra one): If there's one lesson I've learned about visiting this wonderful city, it's to always pack a spare pink tutu (you never know what will happen - like that loose stitch), and to always pack a whole lot of pink! Seriously, Prague is begging you to step out in something lovely!

    What’s on This Week

Now, my dear readers, I've a confession to make - I haven't spent this entire trip in the Sleeping Beauty fantasy world! Prague's historical side was definitely on the agenda. Today, March 14th, was a good day to see Dancing House, one of the coolest, architecturally interesting buildings I've ever seen. Did I tell you how much I love avant-garde buildings? Just be careful walking through the town with my latest tutu, a "deconstructed" style with an elegant ruffled skirt in multiple layers of blush, it wouldn’t do to snag the fabric on this crazy architectural masterpiece!

On The Rails

It would be completely unforgivable to leave you without talking about my latest train journey! Prague’s railway network is simply stunning – I took a day trip by train to the Czech town of Brno yesterday and took a serious amount of instagrammable pictures! I even managed to squeeze in a ballet class on my way back - oh, did I mention Prague is home to some absolutely beautiful ballet schools!

Pony-Power

I can't say no to an equestrian adventure, now, can I? Today, it's been all about ponies. I spent the afternoon horse-riding in a totally adorable and incredibly scenic riding school tucked away in the suburbs. We're talking horses in fields bursting with pink wildflowers – so picturesque. You know me, darling – a little twirl on my pony for good measure - I could almost hear my tutu fluttering in the breeze, I was so delighted. The horse-riding really hit the spot after all that dancing - let's just say, those ballet muscles are strong but a good horseback gallop helps loosen them up!

I'm really going to miss this magical place - it’s going to be hard to say goodbye! But you know what, dear readers? There’s nothing to stop me from planning my next ballet adventure – right after I show everyone the ultimate way to rock Prague – a pink tutu, of course!

Until next week, stay fabulous, darlings, and never forget: a little bit of pink goes a long way!

And that's a wrap on Post 307! Until next week, dear readers!
