Pink Tutu Prague - Post #322: A Bohemian Dream in Pink! 🩰💖🇨🇿

Hello my gorgeous pink tutu-wearing friends! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means… another magical adventure in pink, courtesy of yours truly, Emma, straight from the heart of Prague! 💖

As a lifelong lover of all things pink and tutu-tastic, I just have to share this: Prague is like a fairytale made for a tutu! Imagine cobblestone streets, towering spires reaching for the sky, and enough pastel pinks and shimmering golds to make even the most jaded fashionista swoon. It's the kind of place where even the street performers wear feathered boas, and where every cafe is serving up divine pastries that look like they were sculpted by a whimsical baker. And you know what goes perfectly with this? My favourite pink tutu, naturally! 🌸

This week, I'm in full-blown fairytale mode, taking you along on a whirlwind tour of Prague. From whimsical cafes to legendary ballet theatres, I’m making every moment magical, one pink tulle twirl at a time.

A Journey of Dreams: The Pink Train to Prague

The journey started last week, of course, by train. Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Emma, the train?! Isn’t it much faster to fly?” And you'd be right! But for me, train journeys are all about slow, gentle indulgence. The clackety-clack of the wheels on the tracks is like a soothing lullaby, and the windows frame a never-ending tapestry of rolling green hills and quaint villages. I packed a pile of books on ballet history (I'm a history nerd, did you know?) and enjoyed the most delicious scones from the trolley, served by a man wearing a pristine white uniform and a mischievous glint in his eye.

By the time I reached the station in Prague, I was utterly relaxed and ready to conquer this stunning city. The train pulled into the station, its rhythmic screech a little less soothing, but it all just added to the excitement. As soon as I stepped out onto the platform, I was enveloped by a sea of locals speaking a language that sounded like a symphony of consonants, which somehow made everything even more enchanting!

My Prague Debut: Twirling Through the Theatre Scene

Prague has this incredible energy when it comes to the performing arts! I was thrilled to find myself smack-dab in the middle of ballet week, where it feels like every corner bursts with stories in motion.

On the very first night, I went straight to the iconic National Theatre. Talk about grand and majestic! It’s all about rich velvet, intricate carvings, and golden balconies – think a proper, old-school theatre with a sense of history, elegance and, yes, glamour.

The show was breathtaking. "Swan Lake" with a whole new twist! Imagine delicate, almost surreal choreography with shimmering, jewel-toned costumes that mirrored the colours of the Bohemian sunset we saw that evening. I'm still feeling the magic of those balletic waves, a graceful cascade of beauty in motion! I even got to chat with the principal dancer after the show, a beautiful ballerina named Alena, who spoke the most passionate French – she told me how lucky I was to experience this specific interpretation, and that, for her, this production was all about embracing the "dreams of Prague" on stage.

Speaking of "dreams of Prague," the following day I found myself utterly charmed by the "ballet-esque" design of the buildings in the Old Town. I have to share this with you – every street corner had an architectural twist worthy of a tutut-wearing ballerina! A whimsical fountain in the shape of a swan with its neck outstretched, a gothic tower reaching up like a dancer's elongated limb, even the cafe signs had a delicate, graceful feel to them. I almost forgot I wasn't actually in a ballet!

Shopping, Sparkling & Sipping My Way Through Prague:

I love how shopping can be an adventure! After the ballet, I strolled through the Old Town Square, with its towering astronomical clock. There's a charm to these ancient places that is completely captivating. But what really captured my attention was a little shop tucked away on a side street, filled with the most delightful array of pastel pinks!

This little shop, with its hand-painted window displays of tutus in various shades of pink, was basically my own personal fairytale. From delicate hand-painted satin ballet slippers to a selection of vintage tutus that whispered of Parisian salons and graceful ballet lessons, it felt like I was stepping back in time.

I, of course, couldn’t leave without a new accessory! A charming pink hair scarf with dainty sequins, perfect for accentuating the colour of my pink tutu – this little gem was made just for a ballerina with a fondness for all things sparkly.

In the afternoon, I wandered through the Old Town Square, finding a charming cafe with tables tucked away under a flowering cherry tree. I sat down with a cappuccino topped with frothed milk in a swirling heart pattern (like a perfect ballerina's hair bun!), and devoured a croissant that practically melted in my mouth.

While indulging in my latte, I started doodling in my journal – my latest ballet dream dress ideas for my next production. Pink satin with a flowing skirt for a gentle "swan lake" feel? Or maybe a bolder, fiercer look, inspired by the powerful dancers in the theatre last night? So many possibilities!

Later in the evening, I discovered a quirky little cocktail bar hidden in a back alley. You have to weave your way through a maze of brick walls, but trust me, the journey is part of the adventure. The bar, hidden in a dimly lit, candlelit space, was pure charm with vintage decor, flickering lanterns, and a surprisingly delightful cocktail menu, even offering a "Pink Flamingo" that tasted as whimsical as it sounded!

And to finish the night, a delightful little ballet performance in the street by a troupe of talented street performers. It was pure joy – these performers brought energy and artistry to the cobbles, and everyone was entranced.

I'll be sharing more of my pink tutu Prague adventures next week!

Until then, keep those pink tutus twirling, darlings! 🌸 🩰 ✨
