Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet in the City of a Hundred Spires! (Blog Post #334)

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, and I’m positively bubbling with excitement because guess what? I'm in Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires! My pink tutu and I are having a simply smashing time, and I simply cannot wait to share all the pretty details with you.

Remember those beautiful trains we were talking about? I did mention it before, but a little train ride is the perfect way to reach my favorite city of Prague, you know? After all, what's better than travelling to a lovely destination with a steaming cuppa and the gentle clackety-clack of the tracks underneath? The English countryside flew past the windows like a delightful watercolor painting. I swear, I could practically hear the rustling of silk tutus on my imaginary ballerinas, swirling as they danced in a symphony of colours! Oh, how I wish I had my own private train carriage filled with lovely things, you know what I mean, darling?

So, darling, what did we have planned for this week in Prague? Oh my, just imagine – the National Theatre, of course, a treasure trove of artistry, ballet and glorious culture. Imagine it, a beautiful old building filled with elegant pink satin seating (you know, the type that gives you goosebumps). That’s Prague! I was positively bouncing on my toes with anticipation, and for once, my ballet shoes felt absolutely perfect.

Speaking of shoes, I made a beeline for the prettiest shoe shops in Prague, darling. And believe me, they were a delight. Honestly, Prague’s shops are full of shoes. The streets positively hum with the whisper of exquisite fabrics, each one begging to be taken home. I did, however, refrain from buying a shoe that day (though it was a tough one). Instead, I indulged in a fabulous pastry that reminded me of the most decadent spun sugar dreams! A confection of soft vanilla cream nestled between a shell of flakey pastry - oh I could have eaten five of them!

This is so important, darling, the absolute must-do for any trip to Prague – you must visit their famous market! A riot of colours and textures! From handcrafted treasures to little trinkets, there was something to pique every interest! It was like being at a big, grand art exhibition… except, you could smell it and touch it! The colours! A tapestry of rich reds, vibrant oranges, and, oh darling, the pinks! Did I tell you they’ve been experiencing a pink tutu revival? Well, Prague really has. Everything is pink. Even their tulips and pigeons! You’d swear I was the only one in a tutu.

So now I must share a bit about my ballet routine while in Prague. Imagine this – a graceful studio filled with soft sunlight. That is the magic of my favourite class in Prague. The steps flowed effortlessly under the guidance of my wonderful tutor, Ms. B, a ballerina of extraordinary talent (she taught in Derbyshire too, before you ask! Yes, a complete coincidence - just imagine how delighted I was to hear her pronounce the Derbyshire accents!), with whom I share an unspoken language of pink tutus and arabesques! It felt like dancing in a dream, all around the grand city, in fact!

Anyway, you know how much I love going to the theatre, so we had to indulge in the national treasure that is Prague’s National Theatre. We were surrounded by history, grandeur and such a lot of velvet! The performance was stunning, a captivating story unfolded before our very eyes! I confess I had a sneaky peek at some of the behind-the-scenes pictures. Now, I've never been more tempted to sneak backstage at the National Theatre – I swear they keep some of their most lovely outfits in a secret little shop right behind the stage! You wouldn't believe the gorgeous costumes! There were pink, turquoise, and purple tutus galore. If only I could afford one of them...

That’s not all, my dearest darlings! This week was simply jam-packed with ballet excitement. My trip to the beautiful Prague National Gallery included the ballet exhibition - it was simply delightful! Filled with so much artistic wonder, with everything from sculptures to beautiful drawings. They even had a special exhibit featuring photographs of a 1920s production of Giselle in which they featured a real tutu, in all its exquisite glory. Imagine that - an entire room dedicated to the beauty of tutus! They really were the most charming details!

As always, darling, I am keeping you updated with my adventures and experiences, sharing with you my excitement for every minute. After all, darling, the world of dance is an amazing place full of magic and enchantment and there's nothing like dancing in a pink tutu in a city that embraces colour.

I hope this post inspired you to go for your dream trips. Who knows? Maybe Prague will inspire you to find your own little pink tutu...

Stay beautiful, darlings! And remember, life’s best enjoyed with a dash of sparkle and a whole lot of pink!

See you next Wednesday for another amazing pink tutu journey!

Love, Emma
