Pink Tutu Prague: Post No. 335: A Tutu-licious Adventure in the City of a Hundred Spires

Dearest readers,

It's Wednesday, and that means a fresh dose of pink-tutu-filled adventure awaits! Today, I'm writing to you from Prague, the city of a hundred spires and a thousand fairy tales. My journey began in the heart of Derbyshire, England, with a flurry of pink tulle and a wave of excitement as I bid farewell to my little cottage nestled in the green hills. My mode of transport? Well, no ordinary train carriage could accommodate my magnificent, custom-made pink tutu! I opted for a majestic, long-distance, vintage, and very pink train, of course. Imagine my delight when I found the carriage filled with other enthusiastic tutu-wearing travellers - a real-life, "Pink Tutu Posse" in motion. We filled the carriage with music and laughter, singing about tutus and tutus only.

Reaching Prague was magical, just like arriving in a fairytale. The cobbled streets, the looming castles, the air filled with the aroma of traditional Czech cakes, it was all simply dreamy. I immediately checked into the cutest little hotel, a charming pink, neo-baroque confection, filled with lace, and chandeliers, and adorned with photographs of famous ballerinas. The hotel concierge (a charming gentleman with a pink feather boa - a true tutu aficionado!) even provided me with a miniature pink tutu for my adorable chihuahua, Pipsqueak, who has become my official travelling companion. He has to make sure the tutu gets photographed in every corner, of course!

Fashion Focus: A Tutu-ful Shopping Spree

As soon as I was settled, a spontaneous shopping spree was in order. Prague is a sartorial paradise! I was amazed at the boutiques brimming with fabulous frocks, lace gloves, delicate jewels, and oh-so-many shoes! My shopping bag quickly bulged with a beautiful ivory silk dress with intricate beading that will look absolutely stunning with my new pink tutu! A new pair of ballet pumps, hand-painted with rosebuds, joined the loot, adding a touch of floral charm to my ensemble. I found a quaint little antique shop selling the most delightful antique pink bonnets. Oh, how I love pink bonnets! One thing's for sure, dear readers: youā€™ll be seeing a whole lot more of pink, lace and tutus from my upcoming adventures here!

Ballet, Ballet, Ballet:

Now, for the piĆØce de rĆ©sistance: the reason for my visit! Today is the 26th of September, 2001, and itā€™s the opening night of the ballet "La Fille Mal GardĆ©e." The famed Prague National Ballet will grace the stage of the glorious State Opera House, and you can bet your dancing shoes I'll be there, with Pipsqueak perched on my shoulder in his little tutu, ready to absorb the artistry! I've already peeked into the rehearsals ā€“ what breathtaking choreography! I hear that this is the last season the National Ballet will perform ā€œLa Fille Mal GardĆ©eā€ and Iā€™m determined to witness it with my own two eyes! Later, I'll share with you all the inside scoop on this timeless masterpiece, as well as all the juicy details on the stunning costumes. Did you know that ballet shoes started out in a pale pink hue? I find it rather delightful that a ballet classic, with its charming romance and joyous choreography, would choose the color of innocence, and frivolity for the ballerinasā€™ feet. Itā€™s a reminder of the grace and sweetness associated with ballet.

Tutu History

Talking of history, my fellow tutu enthusiasts, Prague holds an incredibly rich cultural history, with the most enchanting story of all relating to the story of the ballet shoe and the humble tutu! You can't go far in Prague without encountering a glimpse of the cityā€™s fascinating dance history. There is a beautiful, ancient library that houses an unbelievable collection of ancient dance costumes! Thereā€™s one particular painting of a beautiful ballet dancer from the early 1800s and guess what she's wearing? A gloriously pink, fluffy tutu, just like mine! This, my friends, is an actual tutu that became a sensation across Europe and helped kick-start the modern ballet movement as we know it!

Dining Delights: A Tutu-licious Culinary Adventure

No adventure would be complete without delicious food, right? So, I've booked a table at a traditional Czech restaurant for tonight, where I plan to enjoy a delightful, three-course, tutu-tastic, pink feast. I've heard their ā€œPink Roasted Pork with Apricot Sauceā€ is divine, with succulent pork and the most beautiful pink-tinted sauce. To compliment it, I will enjoy a lovely rose-coloured wine and perhaps even indulge in a delicate rosewater custard for dessert, all in the spirit of ballet's most enchanting color.

Beyond Ballet: Exploring the Charm of Prague

Tomorrow, Pipsqueak and I will be exploring the magic of Prague, and I plan to soak up its rich atmosphere, from the majestic Prague Castle and the charming Charles Bridge to the iconic Astronomical Clock. Iā€™ll be capturing all the tutu-licious photo opportunities Prague offers, naturally. Of course, it wouldn't be a proper pink tutu-themed adventure without a visit to a charming tea room for a decadent afternoon tea! It's all about embracing the feminine and adding a touch of sparkle wherever I go.

Iā€™ll be posting again next week with an update on my adventure.

Until next time, keep twirling and remember, every day is a chance to embrace your inner ballerina!

Yours in pink and twirls,

Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
