Prague, My Darling! Pink Tutu Takes On The City of a Hundred Spires (Post #338)

Hello my beautiful lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, ready to whisk you away to the magical city of Prague! As always, I'm brimming with excitement for a week full of balletic adventures, a dash of Parisian flair (because we all know that chic European aesthetic is always a win), and a whole lot of pink, naturally!

This week, the Pink Tutu Express (yes, you heard that right, we're ditching the dusty train and riding a trusty pony – because it's a little bit fancy, a little bit fabulous, and oh so Prague!) has brought me to a city steeped in history and enchanting with its architectural masterpieces. The cobbled streets are calling, the gothic spires reaching for the clouds, and the vibrant energy is electrifying! I'm in Prague, my darlings, and it's truly enchanting!

This time, the pink tutu train brought me to Prague on the 17th of October, 2001, just in time for a grand balletic adventure – the famed PinkTutuPrague Ballet! Oh, my dears, I can practically hear the strains of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" now! A city so steeped in artistic heritage deserved nothing less than a spectacular ballet performance, and I, for one, was more than ready to revel in the grandeur!

But before we get lost in the swirling pirouettes and soaring leaps of the PinkTutuPrague Ballet, let's have a little chat about my Prague essentials! You see, even a ballet-loving traveler has to maintain a certain level of pink-tastic sophistication! A well-planned outfit for a ballet performance can make all the difference, you know. This is the kind of show that demands a dramatic pink tutu with layered tulle, an elegant velvet jacket in a rich crimson, and a pair of ballet flats in a vibrant magenta. You see, one cannot simply wear a standard tutu to a grand ballet in Prague – it must be pink and it must be spectacular!

Let's Get Festive: Pink in the City of Gold

After I finished my warm-up with a gentle barre (it's good for posture, you see, darling, and helps you make the most of all the yummy treats and wine we'll be indulging in!), I ventured out to explore this stunning city! As always, I packed my Pink Tutu Fashion Diary for notes and sketches – you know, the kind of ideas that inspire my pink tulle and feather embellishment designs. Oh, Prague! You have a flair for the dramatic! And your penchant for baroque architecture? Simply divine! I'm convinced every corner is bursting with inspiration, ready to inspire my next creation.

A pink-tinted stroll through Old Town Square brought me face to face with the astronomical clock – a magnificent contraption! Imagine a celestial ballet of figures performing every hour, a sight to behold! Even with the astronomical clock doing its elaborate dance, it couldn’t compete with my outfit! Then there's the Charles Bridge! My dears, I can't help but feel it's the most charming place in the city – perfect for a leisurely walk, a little people-watching, and a quiet moment of reflection (and yes, a pink tutu can still make a quiet reflection pretty spectacular, my lovelies). I was mesmerized by the vibrant artistry of the statues lining the bridge! Imagine a row of colourful saints with beautiful haloes and robes in all the most fabulous shades of pink and orange, dancing with the river flowing underfoot! And let’s not forget the Prague Castle! My dears, this monument to history is simply breath-taking! I felt like I was stepping into a fairytale! All I could imagine was a procession of princesses in glorious, sweeping pink tutus! The city itself was already a beautiful fairytale in pink. Prague is, by far, the pinkest fairytale town I’ve ever seen!

Now, we must delve into the deliciousness! I can’t write a blog post without talking about food, and darling, let me tell you – Prague is a gastronomic delight! My absolute favourite (apart from any and all sweet treats, obviously – because one simply must have cake with tea while on holiday in Prague! But never before a ballet, mind you – it will be my pre-ballet treat!), is the Trdelník. Imagine: warm, freshly baked, fluffy, sweet, covered in delicious toppings! A symphony of flavors, textures, and warmth, my dears. It was so perfect it felt like an indulgence just meant for pink tutu-wearing ballerinas! And let’s not forget the traditional Czech beer! You could find me in my most perfect pink tutu at any pub, with my dearest girlfriends enjoying the finest craft beers Prague has to offer! (And the gorgeous ambiance, of course – nothing beats a Prague beer garden in the late afternoon sun.)

Pink Tutu at the Ballet! The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

Now, back to the balletic marvel that awaited us. The PinkTutuPrague Ballet was a kaleidoscope of colors and emotions, each step a burst of creativity and passion. I simply had to have a quick peek into the rehearsal studio at the PinkTutuPrague Ballet Academy - my oh my! So many beautifully lit classrooms where graceful young ballerinas practiced their moves in a myriad of tutus - from classical white to gorgeous deep magenta - and you bet there were some gorgeous shades of pink thrown in there too! The air buzzed with anticipation. There was a feeling in the air that made me think I might have to sneak out after the show to try and take a class – but we will talk about ballet classes later, for now, we are here to witness the pink and white tutu-clad magical beauty on stage. I settled into my velvet seat, surrounded by the hum of excited whispers. Then the lights dimmed, the music started, and the performance began! It was everything I'd ever dreamed of – beautiful costumes, graceful movements, expressive dancers.

Oh my darlings! The main ballerina! Her movements were a delicate symphony, her emotions were conveyed through her steps – her pink tutu floated gracefully about her! Every twirl, every jump, every extension was a work of art! As a Pink Tutu advocate myself, you know I felt it was only right to find the main ballerina backstage after the performance to shower her with praise and congratulate her on the wonderful ballet. (Let's be honest, any time there's a tutu on stage, my adoration knows no bounds.)

Pink Tutu Inspiration

What did I take from this wonderful experience? It isn't simply a story of beautiful music, wonderful dancing and incredible choreography. It’s also a story of dreams and the perseverance to follow those dreams. If we can learn anything from the ballerinas that graced the stage tonight, it’s this:

"Chase your dreams! Don’t ever give up!" And you know what else I've learned, darling? I learned that pink is indeed the color of dreams! I hope you are getting my message loud and clear, my dears! It's about empowerment. It's about confidence. It's about being bold and fabulous, just like the Pink Tutu itself! We are all beautiful. We are all strong. And, darling, we are all deserving of a little bit of pink in our lives.

Now, on that pink note, my dears, I've got to rush off! My next journey to Prague might just be on horseback - oh my - the Pink Tutu is already creating my next grand outfit for Prague, imagine pink tulles with a slight gothic twist - just perfect to contrast with all that magnificent castle and baroque architecture!

Until next week, lovelies!

Stay fabulous and embrace the pink!

Yours eternally in pink tulle, Emma
