Hello my darlings! Emma here, fresh off the train from Vienna and ready to dazzle Prague with my pinkest tutu. It's Wednesday, so that means it's time for another instalment of my weekly Pink Tutu adventures! Today's post is all about Prague - the city of magical bridges, captivating architecture, and so much ballet!
From Derbyshire to Prague: A Train Journey in Pink
Travelling by train is my favourite way to see the world. You can sip on hot chocolate, lose yourself in a good book (or, better yet, a book on ballet history!), and marvel at the changing landscapes outside your window. My recent train journey from Vienna to Prague was especially delightful. The scenery was breathtaking - rolling hills, sparkling rivers, and quaint villages dotting the countryside.
I dressed for the occasion, of course! A crisp pink knit paired with a dazzling sequined skirt - and, naturally, my go-to fluffy pink tutu! (A girl can't travel incognito, can she?) My fellow travellers gave me the warmest smiles. It's remarkable how the magic of a tutu can bridge cultural barriers, wouldn't you agree?
Pink Perfection: Exploring the City of Prague
After arriving at Prague's charming main station, I whisked myself off to a delightful little cafe just around the corner. With my steaming cup of herbal tea, I surveyed my surroundings - cobbled streets, stunning medieval architecture, and a constant stream of people going about their day. Prague has a real energy, an artistic vibe that's contagious!
I spent the afternoon meandering through the Old Town, marvelling at the astronomical clock, getting lost in the picturesque streets, and admiring the incredible artistry of Prague Castle. Everywhere I went, the city revealed its beauty. Each corner offered a new photograph opportunity - my pink tutu really popping against the backdrop of vibrant historical buildings. I couldn't resist snapping a few shots, naturally! You'll find them on my Pink Tutu Instagram, alongside all my usual ballet poses.
Tutu Treasures: A Fashion Extravaganza
My heart beats for beautiful things, and Prague certainly has its share! The city is bursting with fantastic shops and boutiques, filled with exquisite fashion finds. It wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu adventure without a spot of shopping! I treated myself to a stunning embroidered silk shawl - the perfect accessory to pair with my pink tutu at the ballet later. Oh, and let's not forget a new pair of ballet flats, a dazzling floral crown (perfect for the Prague evening!), and, of course, a brand-new pink ballet dress - my Pink Tutu wardrobe was just begging for an update!
Dance Dreams: A Night at the National Theatre
Tonight's highlight - the reason I came all this way - a spectacular performance at the magnificent National Theatre. It was a dazzling showcase of Czech ballet. I was particularly enthralled by the graceful moves, the elaborate sets, and the rich costumes. It truly was a night of pure joy and enchantment.
Oh, my dears! The artistry, the passion, the costumes, the music... the National Theatre made my Pink Tutu heart soar! It was magical!
Prague's Ballet Heritage: A Pink Tutu Love Letter
There's a reason I've travelled all the way from Derbyshire to Prague, and it's not just the delicious gingerbread and the enchanting bridges! The Czech Republic has a rich ballet history, and Prague, the capital, boasts some of the finest ballet institutions in the world. It's a city that knows its dance.
Prague's National Theatre is the heart and soul of the ballet scene. From the Sleeping Beauty to the captivating Swan Lake, its stage has hosted a breathtaking array of classic ballets and innovative works.
The theatre is simply stunning. Built in the 19th century, its beautiful architecture is a delight.
The theatre was constructed at a time when the idea of ballet was beginning to become truly appreciated in Europe. From grand ballerinas wearing stunningly ornate costumes, to tutus becoming lighter, more practical for complex and artistic dance moves - the evolution of ballet really came into its own here. I am eternally grateful to those who shaped this beautiful art form!
Beyond the Stage: Pink Tutu Prague Continues
Of course, ballet isn't all about grand performances and the glitter and glam of the theatre. Prague's love affair with dance extends far beyond the stage.
You'll see street dancers in every corner, ballerinas on rooftops, dancers everywhere you look. The Pink Tutu was inspired in Prague, and it really inspires me to go out and discover ballet, every step of the way.
For my last day here, I'm going to join a ballet class right here in Prague. I simply must see the heart and soul of ballet in this city.
