Pink Tutu Prague: A Fairytale in the Heart of Europe (Post #377)
Hello lovelies!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of my Pink Tutu travels. Today, I'm whisking you away to Prague, a city that's like stepping into a fairytale - all cobblestone streets, gothic spires and a charming history that feels like it's whispering secrets around every corner. I've been here for a week, and it's already stolen a piece of my heart, just as the city itself is so expertly crafted from ancient stones and stories.
Now, before I tell you about my latest adventures, let me take a moment to gush about my arrival in this magical metropolis. As the train glided into the station, the city unfolded before me like a grand, delicate lacework. And yes, I arrived in a perfect pink tutu, naturally! It’s a classic “Tutu Ballerina” style – a glorious, frothy cloud of tulle that's both chic and dramatic, like the ballerina dancing at the pinnacle of her performance. I always aim for a statement piece, and trust me, arriving in Prague with this look certainly drew some admiring glances – and even a few hesitant “Bravos” from fellow travellers.
Prague is, of course, a paradise for any tutu lover. I mean, just the architectural detailing is a work of art, and the vibrant atmosphere evokes a ballet class. There are so many opportunities to strike a pose against a picture perfect background. I mean, what is life without a photo opportunity?
Since my arrival, I've already conquered Prague’s fashion scene, a treasure trove of stylish boutiques that wouldn’t look out of place in Paris. There are just so many beautiful pieces; lace, sequins and shimmering silks – enough to turn your head right round. It's a veritable playground for fashion lovers, and the best part is I got to slip into the most divine fuchsia feather boa (what else?), just for the sheer indulgence. I mean, who can resist?
Speaking of indulgence, I also have to mention Prague’s delicious cuisine. It’s such a delightful sensory experience – imagine a ballet of tastes, with sweet notes of pastry, creamy flavours of dumplings and hearty textures of roasted meats. I just can't resist indulging in the local delicacy - a beautifully plated goulash, garnished with the most divine swirls of fresh, vibrant green parsley.
Oh, and the dancing, darlings! The heart of Prague, especially in the summertime, pulsates with live performances. Street artists showcase their talents with fiery flamenco, nimble tango and playful jazz, their dance moves creating ripples of energy throughout the plazas. One day, I even found a group performing a mesmerising, dynamic interpretive piece with their graceful fingers dancing across strings - the ethereal notes seemed to weave spells amongst the cobblestones. It truly felt like being transported to a timeless fairytale.
Now, for those who haven't yet graced their lives with the experience of Prague, here's my top tip: always find a local performance, particularly at one of the many quaint, historic theatres nestled throughout the city. You can easily lose yourself in the captivating magic of it all. The theatrical scene in Prague has a history just as beautiful and intriguing as the city itself.
And on the subject of Prague’s rich history, this week, I visited the stunning National Theatre. It's the jewel in the crown of the city's theatrical scene – a masterpiece of architecture, overflowing with historical grandeur. It is a beautiful blend of classical elegance and modern grace, almost an amalgamation of tutus from the grand ballet and theatre of yesteryear to modern couture!
Now, here's what happened on July 17th, the day that inspired this week's blog post - it was ballet night! Imagine it, dancing in the heart of the city, and guess what - a pink tutu, of course, had to be on display. I attended a mesmerizing performance of "Giselle". Oh, what a story, what an amazing experience - the ballet dancers truly stole my heart with their stunning athleticism, lyrical storytelling, and sheer grace! I am absolutely smitten with this timeless classic!
It’s so heartwarming to see a ballet in such an atmospheric space. It was a sensory feast that ignited a beautiful ballet spirit, with all its emotional weight and artistic finesse, it truly felt like I had transported back to the golden age of ballet. It felt like it was just a grand fairytale – my personal ballerina dream – being there in the audience, lost in the timeless charm of Prague.
So, if you are looking for an escape from the ordinary and a dose of magic, a visit to Prague will certainly hit the spot. And always, always, always wear a pink tutu – that’s a must!
Until next Wednesday,
Love and Tutus,
Emma x
