Bonjour mes amis!
This week, my little pink feet have pirouetted all the way to Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires. I arrived in style, naturally, on a rather magnificent train ride (thank you, Derbyshire to Prague, I hope they all say "Ooh la la" when they see my tutu!), and it truly feels like stepping into a fairytale. Cobblestone streets, charming cafes, gothic architecture reaching towards the clouds…it’s simply enchanting!
Prague has a magical feel to it, which seems to suit my tutu perfectly, I have to say.
Speaking of magical feels, my heart is still buzzing from a wonderful ballet performance last night at the National Theatre. It's like dancing in a dream, only more exciting.
As a passionate ballet buff, a self-proclaimed tutu enthusiast and a firm believer in the transformative power of a pink twirl, Prague feels like my dream come true. It’s bursting with a rich ballet history, the architecture screams "tutuland!" and the atmosphere whispers "prima ballerina."
Before we get into the details of my dance adventures, let’s talk about my wardrobe choices, because, as every true ballerina knows, a girl has to be prepared!
For this particular journey, I packed my "pink power" arsenal. Picture it: A blush-hued polka dot frock that's the perfect blend of Parisian chic and Prague-ready glamour; my favourite cashmere cardigan with an abundance of pearl buttons for that touch of elegance; and of course, a plethora of tulle and lace.
But the absolute pièce de résistance? A cloud-soft pink tutu that’s just begging to be twirled around those stunning cobblestone streets. You'll be seeing it everywhere, I can assure you!
Let’s take a look at today's exciting programme!
Today was all about discovering the city. Did you know? Prague Castle is actually the largest ancient castle complex in the world! A grand, ancient castle surrounded by breathtaking scenery, how perfectly fabulous! Imagine the opportunities for twirling! And who knows, perhaps I’ll find some inspiration for my next tutu design.
I confess, I was even tempted to take a little ride on one of Prague's beautiful white horses. Yes, horses. My trusty steed for my many journeys is actually a beautiful chestnut pony called Prince! He is the love of my life, although he doesn’t always appreciate my fondness for pink. Perhaps he will, one day.
But for today, I was on two legs, in my trusty pink tutu, which really helps blend into the whimsical ambiance, if you ask me!
My favourite moment of the day, however? Discovering a tiny, quaint vintage shop that is stuffed to the rafters with gorgeous ballet costumes, and let’s be honest, tutus. I mean, did someone say tutu heaven?!
So much inspiration! It is truly magical. I simply must have the powder pink one. Perhaps a perfect partner for my pink polka dot frock! It’s as if it was made for twirling through Prague’s Old Town Square. Imagine, dancing in the shadow of the Astronomical Clock, just before it strikes the hour…oh, I am swooning!
And, the pièce de résistance – a shop assistant, who reminded me of the enchanting Ballerina doll from my childhood, except real and even more delightful. A dream come true, truly. We ended up bonding over our shared passion for ballet and everything tutu. She even let me borrow a sparkly vintage tiara, just for a photoshoot. I mean, who could resist that!
I spent the afternoon with my camera, documenting my tutu-tastic adventures, and now I’m enjoying a cup of hot chocolate, nestled in a cozy cafe with panoramic views of Prague’s spires. (Of course, I'm enjoying it with my little ballerina biscuits! Pink, naturally.)
The city’s romantic energy is electrifying. Can you see where I'm going with this? I already know, dear readers, this is going to be a truly tutu-rific adventure!
Speaking of tutu-rific, tomorrow I'm taking a trip to the Prague State Opera! It’s not often you get to see an Opera House built in 1881, now is it? Oh, what wonders await?
