Prague - My Pink Tutu Pilgrimage - Post 387

Hello my darling tutu enthusiasts! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for a new blog post from yours truly, Emma, the Pink Tutu Queen, reporting live from the heart of Prague!

As you know, I’m absolutely mad about all things ballet. My heart flutters at the mere mention of a pas de deux, I get misty eyed at the thought of a beautiful tutu, and my pulse races with the sound of a grand finale applause. I'm always on the hunt for new ballet experiences, new places to visit, and of course, new tutus to add to my ever-growing collection!

This week, I've travelled across Europe by a combination of train and pony (okay, it was actually just train, but pony riding sounded so much more exciting, don't you think?) to reach this fairytale city, Prague. Why? You ask! Well, it’s renowned for its breathtaking beauty and rich history, and yes, believe it or not, its strong connection to ballet! Prague boasts a world-class ballet scene, and it's known as a treasure trove for ballet enthusiasts – like me, of course.

My mission? To delve deep into the world of Prague's ballet and experience the magic for myself. I want to see how their style of ballet differs from what I’m used to back in Derbyshire, to explore its history, and most importantly, to bask in the sheer brilliance of a Prague ballet performance. I wouldn't be a true ballet fan if I wasn’t up for a little research and adventure!

This week’s adventures? Well, let’s start with a visit to the National Theatre, one of Prague's most iconic landmarks. Not only is it famous for its grand architecture (it’s literally dripping with chandeliers, marble, and gold – so glamorous!) but it also boasts a legendary ballet company. And guess what? They were performing Swan Lake, one of my all-time favourites, the story of the magical princess swan! I was already excited and twirling in my pink tulle before I even arrived!

It wasn't just any old swan lake either! The theatre had pulled out all the stops. Every element of the performance was absolutely stunning – from the stunning, graceful ballet itself to the impressive choreography. And those costumes! So dazzling, so extravagant – and just wait till I tell you about their tutus… Oh, the glorious, delicate tutus, shimmering and dancing under the lights! I nearly fainted with delight. The detail, the design, the craftsmanship – the tutus in the swan lake scene were so beautifully made, like feathers catching the light! And you know how much I love tutus – it's a good thing I had brought a trusty pair of binoculars for close-ups, haha!

Of course, no ballet adventure is complete without a little shopping, and Prague did not disappoint. I'm never one to resist a charming boutique, especially one selling clothes with that "vintage, yet whimsical" aesthetic that Prague is famous for. My latest addition? A stunning pink floral printed vintage blouse – perfectly matching the mood of my pink tutu (which, I may add, is getting a lot of admiring looks as I wander through the cobbled streets!) I just know this blouse will be perfect for an upcoming show I've been booked to perform in!

Now, I can't tell you everything in one go! I've got plenty more Prague delights to share – delicious coffee, delicious cake, a visit to a stunning pink palace with amazing ballet costumes on display, and a chat with a delightful lady who shared her fascinating story of growing up learning to dance with her sisters in a tiny room above their shop. It's all here for you, coming soon in future blog posts – be sure to check back on pink-tutu.com next Wednesday for another amazing, ballet filled journey!

Until then, remember to live life to the fullest and keep dreaming, twirling, and dancing!

Always and forever, Emma x

P.S. If you're planning your own pink-tutu-filled travels, just remember, even a queen like myself needs a little help getting around. Make sure to check out all those fab public transport options in your travel destination. The Czech public transport system here in Prague is efficient, fast and oh so charming! Why not explore new experiences with a pink tutu on your arm?!
