Prague, Darling! 🩰💖

Hello lovelies!

Welcome back to Pink Tutu! It’s Wednesday, and that means a brand new blog post! Today's all about my recent trip to the stunning city of Prague, the magical heart of Bohemia, where I took my tutu on an adventure to experience the city's captivating blend of history, culture and, of course, the beautiful ballet.

This is post number 386, and if you’re new here, Pink Tutu is a place to share all my tutu-filled escapades! I'm Emma, a ballerina from the rolling hills of Derbyshire, and I'm absolutely devoted to my favourite colour, the one that embodies all that is lovely and feminine: pink! Oh, and tutus, naturally!

Travelling to Prague in Style

To get to this enchanting city, I opted for the romantic journey on the Eurostar train. A quick, smooth journey where I felt like a vintage starlet, all with a stylish pink tutu ensemble, of course. A pink silk blouse paired with a delicate floral-patterned skirt, my trusty pink-and-white polka dot satchel, and, of course, my fluffy pink tutu with a cascade of tulle. It was the perfect outfit to match the vintage beauty of the carriage, filled with the soft rumble of the wheels on the track.

The arrival in Prague was just as enchanting! Stepping onto the cobblestones of the city centre felt like entering a storybook. Quaint cobblestone streets, beautiful buildings, and a charming mix of locals and tourists with a palpable sense of excitement and culture.

My Prague Home

I’d booked a cosy room in a chic hotel just off the Old Town Square. It was decorated with elegant simplicity, complete with a gorgeous view of the Charles Bridge – oh, I could see the famous Prague Astronomical Clock in the distance! It’s amazing how these historical structures bring so much magic to any cityscape!

Shopping Spree!

Once settled, my inner shopaholic was screaming for release. Prague, my dears, is a paradise for those who adore beautiful things! I snagged a stunning pink shawl from a quaint vintage boutique. It has delicate embroidery of a graceful swan on it! Perfect for evening strolls under the Prague moonlight! The streets were buzzing with vintage clothing shops, antique stores, and a wonderful marketplace brimming with local crafts and delights! I bought an intricately carved wooden ballerina ornament with a hand-painted pink tutu – it will be pride of place on my dresser back in Derbyshire!

Dance Delights at the National Theatre

My primary mission for this trip? Of course! It’s to see ballet, my darlings! And this being the magical 18th of September, 2002, I was heading to the prestigious National Theatre for a show of “Giselle”! Ah, such a timeless classic, so full of heartbreak and passionate romance! I love the swirling costumes of the Wilis! The beautiful theatre, with its elegant architecture and the murmur of anticipation as the lights dimmed, transported me to another era. I almost felt as though I was back in the grand ballet salons of the 19th century!

The performance itself? Magical. Each arabesque and pirouette was breathtaking! The dancers were truly ethereal; every move painted with grace and passion! I especially loved the heartbreaking scene of Giselle's madness.

After the Ballet

As the final notes of the performance faded and the applause died down, the magic of the theatre lingered in the air. And where did I go to celebrate? To the stunning, vintage inspired “Salon de Paris” near the theatre, naturally. My outfit? Of course I had a new outfit! A flowing white maxi dress adorned with a delicate scattering of tiny pink roses, which complimented my ballet-inspired ensemble. I must say I stood out with a dash of vibrant pink, among the velvet, dim-lit ambiance. The café offered a delightful selection of Prague beer – oh, such rich flavours and heady aromas! - with a delicious platter of local cheeses and bread! The perfect finale for such a wonderful evening.

The Magic of Prague

The magic of Prague didn’t end with the theatre. The cobbled streets were beautifully lit, throwing soft reflections on the Vltava River, casting a warm glow across the city. It was truly enchanting. The next morning, I joined a guided tour through the Old Town, strolling past the medieval buildings, with their charming doorways, and a plethora of pastel pink tones adorning their facades. It was the perfect touch for this pastel-loving soul!

Horses and History

Now, you might not think of Prague as being horse-friendly, but let me tell you, the city certainly embraced its equestrian spirit with me! I booked a horseback ride in the park just beyond the city. We ambled along the grassy pathways, enjoying the fresh air, the sunshine, and the stunning views of the city sprawling below. I'm a little terrified of horses (their teeth are quite scary! And sometimes they cough!) but there is no better way to connect with the natural beauty of a new place, especially in such a wonderfully elegant way.

And how to enjoy the ride? My pink tutu, of course! It is a necessity! I paired it with my go-to equestrian boots, a little pink scarf with floral prints for a splash of flair and an easy pink cardigan! It’s true! If you need an outfit that makes everything look gorgeous, pink tutus always get the job done.

An Inspiration

I often think about my mission here at Pink Tutu, it’s to spread a little joy, a little sprinkle of that sweet pink colour to the world. And in this charming city, surrounded by history, beauty, and magic, it seems my dream may just be possible. Just look around you! From the blooming roses and delicate cherry blossom trees in spring, to the fiery red poppies and brilliant bluebells that paint the landscape with colour.

Maybe we all just need a little sprinkle of pink in our lives. Perhaps we can all embody that playful spirit, embrace the feminine and wear our own pink tutu, metaphorically speaking, whether it’s a favourite shade of lipstick or a dash of pink in our wardrobe. After all, even the most sophisticated catwalks are awash with the delicate, joyful colours of pink and red! It's an ode to a little bit of whimsy and a touch of sweetness!

A Farewell for Now

So there you have it! My weekend in Prague! Such a gorgeous, historical, beautiful, artistic and fascinating city! But all things must come to an end, even the most incredible of travels. Tomorrow, I head back to Derbyshire, taking my new adventures and memories with me, my mind bubbling over with new ideas and plans for my Pink Tutu website! And in the coming weeks, you'll be reading all about it!

Until next time my darlings! Be sure to keep on spreading a little pink in the world! 💖🩰

Until next week's post!

Lots of Love,

Emma
