Prague: Ballet Dreams and Pink Tutu Delights (Post #389)
Bonjour, darlings! Emma here, back from another fabulous adventure, this time in the magical city of Prague. This week’s Pink Tutu Blog is bursting with ballet dreams, romantic cobbled streets, and of course, lots and lots of pink!
It's been a whirl of tutu twirls and train journeys, so let’s jump straight into this week's adventure, shall we?
The Train to Prague:
This week I embraced the vintage romance of a train journey. There's nothing quite like the thrill of settling into a compartment, watching the world fly by in a blur of green fields and sleepy villages. I had my trusty pink tutu bag, stuffed with my must-have tutu essentials, of course - my travel-size ballet shoes, my special pink ballerina slippers for the evenings, and my vintage tutu. For a final flourish, I even had a little pink velvet eye mask for those cosy naps.
Prague, my Dearest:
The moment the train pulled into Prague's main station, I was mesmerized. The air hummed with a romantic energy, and the architecture was simply breathtaking. All those fairy tale turrets and intricate details – a ballet dancer's dream come true!
After checking into my charming little boutique hotel (naturally, adorned with delicate floral wallpaper and pink bedspreads!), it was time to explore. And exploring Prague is best done on foot, wandering through the winding cobblestone lanes and admiring the intricate buildings. Every corner felt like a scene from a fairytale, and the soft, golden light of the setting sun painted the city in shades of gold and peach – it was the perfect inspiration for a new pink tutu design!
Pink Tutu Shopping Spree:
Prague is a treasure trove for vintage clothing! I spent a glorious afternoon rummaging through antique shops, sniffing out lace and silk fabrics, and, of course, seeking out the perfect pink tutus to add to my collection. I unearthed a genuine vintage piece from the 1950s - a pale pink tulle confection with delicate embroidered roses – a true gem! I knew it was destined for a photo shoot against the stunning backdrop of Prague's Old Town Square.
A Ballet Dream Come True:
The highlight of my trip was undoubtedly the ballet performance at the National Theatre. The evening was everything a ballerina could ever hope for! The theatre itself was stunning - gilded, ornate, and filled with the air of a hundred years of history. As I slipped into my vintage pink tutu, the magic started. I could hardly believe my eyes when the lights dimmed, the curtain rose, and the most breathtaking ballet performance began. The grace, the passion, the storytelling - it was utterly mesmerizing. Every pirouette, every leap, every arabesque was pure magic! I found myself completely captivated, swept away to a world of grace and beauty. The entire experience was nothing short of extraordinary, and a memory I'll cherish forever.
The Prague Ballet Academy:
Of course, no ballet adventure in Prague would be complete without a visit to the renowned Prague Ballet Academy! The building itself, an elegant, historical edifice, radiated the elegance of classic ballet tradition. As I stepped through the grand doorway, I felt an instant surge of inspiration and a longing to be back on pointe again. It’s such a privilege to learn about the history of ballet in Prague - its incredible influence on the world stage - and the influence the city still has today!
I’ve already added Prague to my list of favourite tutu destinations – just wait for the photo shoot in my latest pink tutu creation!
Dinner Under the Stars:
After a whirlwind day of tutus, I indulged in a romantic dinner at a restaurant tucked away in a little cobbled street. I relished the traditional Czech cuisine – rich dumplings and creamy goulash, followed by a delectable apple strudel - all washed down with a local cherry liqueur. Under the starry Prague sky, with the ancient city lit up in all its glory, it felt like I was truly living in a ballet storybook.
Horseback Riding Adventures:
Before departing, I embarked on a little detour to explore the beautiful countryside outside Prague. Picture me, perched proudly on a gentle pony, riding through meadows awash with wildflowers - pure fairy-tale fun! The horse’s velvety brown coat perfectly matched my new pink ribbon for my braid.
Tutu Tips for Prague:
Now for some Tutu Tips to help you plan your own ballet-inspired Prague escapade:
- Plan your ballet show: Make sure to book your tickets well in advance for any major performances - ballet shows tend to sell out quickly!
- Embrace the cobblestone streets: These charming streets add an enchanting atmosphere but can be tricky in heels, so pack flats for those long days of exploration.
- The colour pink is king: Embrace the magic of Prague by incorporating hints of pink into your outfits. A pink scarf, a rose-printed dress, or maybe even a tiny pink hat!
- Pick a unique souvenir: The streets are brimming with beautiful antiques and vintage clothing, but don't forget to take home a little piece of Prague to remember your trip by.
From Prague with Love:

Until next Wednesday, may all your tutu dreams come true. And remember, it’s never too late to embrace your inner ballerina!
